Nokia Asha 205 Review

0
0
The Asha 205 is one of Nokia's low end offerings that aims to help people with a lower budget experience a glimpse of the various services of the internet, and prepare them for the smartphone onslaught. It can also be a secondary back up device for Smartphone users for its battery life and basic internet connectivity. With a nice QWERTY keyboard aimed at the youth, and with a low price of Rs. 3,475 can it satisfy the budget user? Lets find out. The Asha 205 is a classic Nokia design, with bright colours and attractive lines, considering the primary target audience is the youth of today. The body is completely made of quality plastic and is a mix of matte and glossy textures. The matte textures on the sides provide better grip but the overall glossy nature makes it prone to scratches, a thing we witnessed frequently over the course of usage. The back is nicely textured with a slant pattern, and the curves sit nicely in the hands. On the front of the phone you have the display and the QWERTY keyboard, with the ear piece on the top. The colour we have looks like black but is actually brown, with a ...

Spice Smart Flo Pace 2 Mi-502 benchmarks

Spice introduced the Smart Flo Pace 2 a few weeks back at a price point of Rs. 6,999. The handset is powered by a 1Ghz processor and is paired with 512MB of RAM. The low amount of RAM does get in the way of multitasking on the handset. The processor too isn't particularly powerful but the bloat free stock Android build keeps things running smooth. We've embedded a range of benchmarks from the handset below for your viewing pleasure.  In the AnTuTu benchmark, the Spice Smart Flo Pace 2 scores the least amongst the competition. The score of 5465 is well behind the competition. The Linpack multi threaded test places the phone well below the competition but ahead of phones like the Xolo B700. Similarly in the single threaded Linpack test, the phone shows middling performance and can placed right in the middle of the competition. NenaMark is a GPU centric benchmark and we can see that this is where the Spice Smart Pace Flo 2 manages to score. With 25.6 frames per second, the handset is ahead of most of the competition but lies well behind phones by Huawei. The phone scores just 2271 in the Quadrant benchmark which places it amongst the lowest ...

While the rest of the world is just warming up to the idea of LTE, Samsung has gone ahead and announced the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A for Korea with high data speeds upto 150 Mbps. Spice Smart Flo Pace 2 Mi-502 Review

Budget Android phones are a dime and dozen these days. With rapid improvement in specs and performance, these devices are finally becoming a viable option for everyone who is satisfied by a well performing, reasonably priced smartphone. We've been fairly impressed with Spice's offerings in the segment but will they be able to continue the streak ? Read on to find out. Design Spice has generally opted for a metal finish design with a matte back plate and very high quality materials all around. Sadly most of this is missing in the Smart Flo Pace 2. This handset is a budget segment device and the materials feel the part. The front of the phone has a 5 inch screen with a front facing camera above it. The bezel around the screen is fairly narrow and the design is fairly generic with a few similarities to the Samsung Galaxy series. Below the screen are three capacitive buttons that correspond to menu, home and back keys as always. The buttons are responsive enough and are backlit as well which should make it possible to use them in adverse lighting conditions. The top of the phone sports a solitary 3.5mm audio jack while the charging / data ...

Google developing Android gaming console, new Nexus Q and more for the big refresh – WSJ

The Wall Street Journal is always a bit of a hit or miss when it comes to rumours and its sources, so take this with a pinch of slat. Google is reportedly developing its own Android based gaming console, inspired by the Ouya, says the publication according to "people familiar with the matter". This doesn't come as a surprise because a start up funded by Kickstarter has already pioneered this idea in the form of the Ouya, and just like what Google did after the Kindle Fire, we guess it will take the opportunity to follow through with the disruption. Apart from that, WSJ says that Google is also gearing up for a major Android release that will expand its usability over different form factors like the laptop, a PC, a smartwatch and even a refrigerator, and at the same time, bringing a much more scalability for lower end devices with less RAM and low hardware specifications. This huge refresh has the gaming console at its forefront from what we can infer from WSJ's reports. Expanding on the laptop/PC situation, it is reported that HP is working on a Android based laptop, with better support for mouse/KB and other forms of input ...

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Hands On

0
0
This year has seen the rise of durable smartphones as a credible trend in the market - first we had the Xperia Z followed by the Huawei Ascend D2 and now Samsung has joined in with the new Galaxy S4 Active. The S4 Active is the durable cousin of the Galaxy S4, sharing an impressive specs list whilst also adding IP67 dustproofing and water resistance up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. Up front is the large 5 inch touchscreen which is bright and vibrant but uses TFT technology as opposed to Super AMOLED in the Galaxy S4. Compared to the Galaxy S4, the S4 Active is only slightly thicker (9.1 mm vs 7.9 mm) but is very pleasant to hold. The extra thickness adds a sturdier feel to Samsung's rugged flagship and a 1.9GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM ensure the Galaxy S4 is no slouch. 16GB internal storage makes it on board and a microSD card slot allows you to increase the storage by up to 64GB. The Galaxy S4 came with a 13 megapixel camera and this drops to an 8 megapixel sensor in the Galaxy S4 Active. However, despite the drop in sensor size, the S4 Active comes with ...

The Nokia Asha 501 forms the next generation of feature phones. Bright colorful designs, a touch centric interface and the legendary Nokia build quality are poised to offer a very compelling smartphone-like experience to a first time user. Here's a gallery of Nokia's latest while we work on the review. True to the all touch design philosophy, the Nokia Asha 501 can be navigated for the most part using gestures. The handset sports a single button below the screen. The button corresponds to going back. Those of you who are aware of and have experienced the Harmattan based Nokia N9 will feel right at home on the Asha 501. The interface elements are very similar and the iconography used is reminiscent of the N9. A single button can be found below the display and is used to go back a menu. The button provides good tactile feedback. The remaining buttons can be seen on the right side of the handset. The segmented volume rocker and power keys all provide sufficient feedback and have a very reassuring click to them. Continuing the Lumia inspired design language is the back of the phone. The camera module can be found inside an 'island' etched into the back with the Nokia ...
