Oppo’s rumored Smart Lens leaks online

0
0
Oppo has been long rumored to release a smart lens for smartphones very much like what Sony did with their QX10 and QX100 attachable lenses. Only rumors have been floating around till now, but today an image showing off the device has been leaked online. The device has an Oppo branding on it, but that definitely wouldn't be restricting usage to Oppo smartphones alone as we saw with the cross compatibility of the Sony lenses. The lens comes with a dedicated power button on it and it will also have its own set of options. You will be able to transfer photos to your device through WiFi or NFC. Seeing the large number of user configurable options, this Smart Lens will be more of a standalone camera lens than as a companion shooter attaching itself to the back of a smartphone. Oppo is yet to announce the device and with no rumored flagships in the work, they could announce the Smart Lens without much fanfare. Via

Apple, Google and two other tech companies settle antitrust lawsuit

Google, Apple, Intel and Adobe Systems have settled a class-action lawsuit against nearly 65,000 employees who had alleged the companies conspired to keep wages artificially low through no-hire agreements. Reuters report reveals that Apple, Google, Adobe and Intel have agreed to settle the case and the settlement amount is worth $324 million.  The tech workers claim that from 2005 to 2009 Apple, Google, Adobe and Intel conspired to not poach each others’ employees in order to avert salary bidding wars. The employees had been seeking $3 billion in damages. Under antitrust rules, that could have been tripled to $9 billion. During pretrial proceedings in the class-action antitrust case, emails from top executives including the late Steve Jobs, Google cofounder Sergey Brin and then-CEO Eric Schmidt surfaced, showing the executives conferred on hiring plans, sometimes through intermediaries. The settlement goes before a judge on May 27. Other companies were also involved, including Pixar, Lucasfilm and Intuit, although they previously settled their lawsuits for about $20 million. Source:Reuters

Microsoft has released preview version of its Remote Desktop app for the recently announced Windows Phone 8.1. The company had launched the Remote desktop app on Android and iOS in October last year. It allows users to control your PC from a Windows Phone device while on the go, but it requires Windows Phone 8.1 that is currently available only for developers. The Remote Desktop app provides a rich multi-touch experience with RDP and RemoteFX that supports Windows gestures. Users can get a rich Windows experience and be productive on their Windows Phone devices because the app uses RDP 8.1 and RemoteFX to provide high fidelity audio and graphics. posted David Bélanger, Program Manager, Remote Desktop team in a company blog post. The app can manage multiple remote desktops via a dedicated Connection Center thanks to its  Network Layer Authentication protocol. It app connects to Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista.  If you connect to a Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 machine, the system defaults to touch mode. However, if you are connecting to a Windows 7 PC, the default input mode will interpret your finger as mouse input. Last week Google introduced Chrome desktop app for Android which enables users to access their PC from mobile. Download Microsoft Remote ...

Samsung Galaxy S5 Camera Samples

Samsung's latest flagship device, the Galaxy S5, was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona and eventually arrived in Indian shores earlier this week. With a sky high price of Rs. 51,500, we set out to find if the device is really worth the price. While we will let you know the conclusion in our full review of the phone, in the process, we took the really intriguing 16 MP camera for a spin. We had purchased the international variant in the US and tested the camera in and around San Francisco to see how it fared in different lighting conditions. Go past the break to find all the full resolution samples, and more importantly the 4K video sample after that. The 16 megapixel camera on the Galaxy S5 is based on the ISOCELL technology, which basically means the individual pixels are isolated from each other, making way for better overall colour reproduction and accuracy. The downside is, even if it has a larger surface area for the sensor, the pixels will be a lot smaller than the conventional pixel size one could get from a normal BSI sensor. Coupled with a clear f2.2 lens, how does the new ...

HTC's design chief might be moving on to greener pastures, but he sure has left quite a legacy behind. After the original HTC One won accolades for its pleasing design and quality of build, the Taiwan manufacturer has one upped itself with the new HTC One M8. The design language might be almost exactly the same as its predecessor, but with minor changes in the build, and tweaks to the already good design, HTC has carved yet another well designed smartphone for the premium market. Lets take a hardware walkthrough of this device in photos to see how it looks in front of the camera. The One M8 has a narrow and long front face, thanks to the amount of space occupied by the stereo speakers they fondly call "Boomsound". The familiar premium design lends credence to the flagship nature of this device. Above the new 5 inch full HD IPS display is the front facing camera that has a higher megapixel count than the phone's main camera. This sits along side the sensors, the speaker grille and the notification LED that lays inside. The new One M8 loses the capacitive shortcuts that were part of the older one, but still keeps enough ...

HTC Desire 310 Dual SIM Review

0

HTC has had a troubling past few quarters with well reviewed devices that haven’t really caught the consumer’s eye. In the upper end of the segment, we’ve seen HTC’s new One M8 that incorporates cutting edge design and materials to create the perfect flagship. However it is sales in the volume segment ie the entry level that can help revive the flailing smartphone giant. The Desire 310 aims to be exactly that device as it aims to combine a good experience with an enticing price point. Does it succeed? Read on to find out. Hardware Where the M7 and M8 shattered the boundaries of what was possible with smartphone design, the Desire 310 is the polar opposite. The phone is as pedestrian as they come in terms of looks and it appears that HTC hasn’t even attempted to make it stand out amongst the competition. The phone has a front design that is basically just the display and elements included above the screen. An HTC logo can be seen below the 4.5 inch panel. There are no capacitive buttons here as the phone makes use of onscreen controls. Up top, things are kept slightly fresh by including an earpiece grille in a shade ...
