LG has officially launched the G Pro 2, the company's latest smartphone in the G series and the successor of the G Pro. It packs a 5.9-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display with 3.3 mm narrow bezel, powered by a 2.26 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, OIS+, 4K Ultra HD video recording and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.
It has metal mesh finish on the back that makes it resistant to fingerprints and smudges. It has a range of software features such as Knock Code, to unlock the phone using two to eight taps and 86,000 possible combinations. Other features include, Mini View, Content Lock and 1W Hi-Fi sound that is 30% louder than G Pro.

Motorola Moto X+1, the successor of the Moto X has been rumored for the past few weeks. Motorola's Moto Maker website that lets users create custom design for Moto X now has a new page that mentions "Moto X+1 Details", but the logo seems to be missing. According to a recent leak from @evleaks, the Moto X+1 would come with 25 custom backplate options, including four leather options.
We still don't have any other details of the Moto X+1, but we can definitely expect a considerable upgrade to the current Moto X. Since the new placeholder is already up, the announcement could not be far. Motorola recently announced separate events in London and India on May 13th to announce an affordable smartphone that is "made to last".
It is not clear if we can expect the Moto X successor at the launch event next week along with the rumored Moto E. It could also announce a separate event soon for the Moto X+1 launch, like it did for the Moto X.

The long going Apple and Samsung patent trial received another hearing and decision from the US federal jury. In its verdict, the jury found Samsung guilty of infringing on two of four Apple patents, the '647 patent for data detectors and the '721 patent for "slide-to-unlock". However, the jury said that Samsung did not infringe the '959 "universal search" patent or the '414 "background sync" patent.
The jury ordered Samsung to pay $119.6 million in damages against $2 billion demanded by Apple in its latest verdict. The Galaxy S3, one of Samsung’s flagship products, accounted for the biggest portion, contributing $52 million worth of the damages. In a statement released to US media, Apple portrayed the verdict as a victory that “reinforces what courts around the world have already found: that Samsung willfully stole our ideas and copied our products.”
Meanwhile, the jury also found that Apple infringed Samsung’s ’449 patent and awarded the company to pay $158,400. Samsung in turn has argued that Apple should pay $6 million for infringing on its own patents for video features on smartphones.

Xolo has announced the Q900T, the latest smartphone in the Q CORE series and the successor of the Xolo Q900. It has a 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display at 312 ppi with 178-degree wide viewing angle and a 2.5 D Edge-to-edge curved glass on the front, similar to Xolo X1000 that was released last year and the rear panel too looks similar to X1000. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor that is clear from 'T' in the model number of the phone. It runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), similar to most of the Xolo phones.

Apple has acquired LED maker Luxuve for an undisclosed sum, according to a TechCrunch report. The startup specializes in power-efficient displays that could be used in small consumer devices lacking space for bulky screens or batteries.
“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans,” Apple said. The report suggests that Apple could be looking at both micro-LED's minimal power requirements and its improved brightness as benefits to its mobile range. In last month's earnings call Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that the company had bought 24 companies in the last 18 months.
Founded in 2009, not much is known about Luxuve except that it had raised $43 million in funding from Kleiner Perkins and others. The startup has filed a number of patents that could help devices maintain long battery life while keeping screen brightness high. It can be predicted that Apple might have acquired the start-up to use this technology in its much awaited foray in wearable tech with its rumoured iWatch.
Apple is holding its annual developer conference next month, when it is anticipated to unveil new range of softwares and products. Last month there were reports that Apple is planning to buy Japanese chipmaker Renesas SP Drivers.

The world's most popular Windows Phone turned into a life saver for a police man in Sao Paulo, Brazil where a couple of robbers opened fire at him in his house. The Lumia 520, which was sitting in his back pocket took a bullet, and in the end saved his life, and literally his behind too. This happened in broad daylight, when the military police officer, aged 24 was just returning to his home with his uniform in hands, as he was off duty and wanted to wash it at this home. As he entered the house where his family members were held hostage, the two criminals opened fire, seeing his uniform. They reportedly fired two shots, once the officer began to flee, and one of them hit his buttocks, with the Lumia 520 taking that hit and the other shot reportedly hit the neighbour's gate. While the criminals fled the scene, the officer returned to find that the pair took off a lot of valuables.

Specifications of the HTC M8 mini leaked out back in February even before the HTC One M8 was unveiled. Now @evleaks has posted a press render of the M8 mini that is expected to be launched as HTC One mini 2. The leak reveals the phone's colors, Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold, similar to the HTC One (M8). According to the leaked render, it is clear that the phone lacks a Duo camera arrangement like the One M8.
According to earlier rumors, the HTC One mini 2 would come with a 4.5-inch HD display, 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, and Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0. It is also expected to come with a 13 MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. This would have on-screen buttons instead of capacitive touch buttons and also has the same HTC logo below the screen.

Live images of the LG G3 leaked twice recently, now @evleaks has post two press renders of the smartphone in black and white colors. It shows the similar narrow bezel, rear mounted buttons, loudspeaker and a sensor next to the camera module, which could be the rumored fingerprint reader.
Another render from @evleaks reveals a Infrared LED on the top of the phone. There is also another slot on the top that could be a stylus or an antenna for the Korean version. Google has updated Google Search app on Android by adding offline support to Google Now. This means, now when a user loses internet connection on their phone, all the important Google Now cards will still remain loaded on your phone.

All the relevant information like your scheduled appointments, meetings will still be stored on your phone even if you are unable to access internet for some time. Google will inform you via note at the top as to when was the cards last updated. This means the cards will be cached for offline viewing and will sync again when you get an internet signal.

Nokia HERE might soon land on other popular platforms like Android and iOS, according to a job listing. The company has posted a job offering on LinkedIn which suggests that Nokia is planning to offer its native HERE apps to other platforms besides its own and Windows Phone.
As per the job posting, Nokia is looking for a software engineer that "will design and build advanced location-based services applications for the Android and iOS platforms" among other tasks. The posting does not mention a specific HERE app for which it is planning to recruit. However, there are two postings for the job one of which is for an iOS/Android developer that produces mobile SDKs. While, the other one is or an Android Mobile App Developer for HERE crowd mapping.

Nokia has announced the launch of a $100 million venture fund to invest in auto technology across the globe, including India. The Finnish phone giant plans to invest the fund in promising startups and auto service companies that are involved in connected car related technologies.
Nokia which recently completed its sale of mobile devices business to Microsoft said that the fund will be managed by Nokia Growth Partners (NGP). The funding amount will be used to invest in new opportunities around the automotive mapping and location ecosystem that is such a focal point for HERE.

Samsung is probably planning to launch a new series of premium tablets with the branding Galaxy Tab S. Samsung seems to be obsessed with the tablet market as it is not giving up anything on the market and with the new Galaxy Tab S series, it hopes to increase its number of tablet offerings.
The rumored Samsung Galaxy Tab S series will initially come in two screen sizes - 8.4inch and 10.5inch. Xolo has released Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update for the Q1000 Opus that was launched back in December last year running Android 4.2.2. This is the company’s first smartphone with a quad-core Broadcom chip in the Q CORE series and also its first smartphone to get the KitKat update. The company had released several minor updates for the phone since the launch. It released a minor update back in January to fix camera bugs.
It released another minor update earlier this month for camera and touch screen optimizations. At that time Xolo confirmed that the phone would get Android 4.4.2 in the next update. The Kernel is dated April 29th and the build number is dated 3rd May 2014. There is no official changelog for the update.
