Samsung announced a pair of Super AMOLED display tablets on June 13th and among the two, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is the bigger one and is the one that competes with Apple's iPad Air. The 10.5inch Super AMOLED display on the Tab S is absolutely gorgeous and we put it next to the iPad's Retina display. The iPad Air is on the left side while the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is on the right side. The slightly bigger display of the Tab S 10.5 has a resolution of 1600x2560 pixels and hence, a pixel density of 288ppi while the iPad Air has a 9.7inch display sporting a resolution of 1536x2048 pixels with a pixel density of 264ppi. We also made a quick video of the display comparison which you can check out right below. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4DsvxUOQwk As you can see in the images above, both the displays are great and it is really tough to pick a clear winner. Popular Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi is expected to make its debut in India very soon. Ahead of the launch, its website has gone live that proves to be rather short on details but does help create a bit of buzz around the launch. Xiaomi is also making its presence felt via their official Facebook page. The launch of the website and the company's India specific social properties makes us believe that Xiaomi devices might go on sale sooner than the Diwali time frame that has been hinted at previously. The news follows the company's appointment of Manu Kumar Jain as General Manager, Xiaomi India. Xiaomi makes a range of products that offer compelling specifications & user experiences at a very enticing price point. The product range includes the Mi3, RedMi, RedMi Note as well as a number of accessories. Additionally, Xiaomi has diversified into verticals like 4K televisions. We expect the company will introduce a subset of their offerings including the RedMi at launch. We expect to see the company retail devices via their own web based store as well as e-retailers like Amazon and Flipkart. [Via - AndroidOS]

The play here will of course be to push content through Amazon's portal. In a report published by Wall Street Journal, we find out that the handset will also be exclusive to AT&T. The headset would under price competitors by using the hardware on your phone. It can then be used for viewing media and for playing video games. A British fashion designer along with Microsoft has created wireless mobile-charging trousers. The duo claims that they it is the first time such a trouser is made in the world. Adrien Sauvage, a 31-year-old designer has been working on the trousers for the past six months and the prototype will be released today in London. It will house parts from the Nokia DC-50, a portable wireless charging device with built-in battery, in one of the front pockets of the pants. The wearer essentially needs only to put their phone in the pocket, and through “inductive charging”, a process that uses electromagnetic fields to send energy, the phone will begin to charge. Having something that you want to Put On without the Expertise feeling cumbersome was a challenge. It was once also difficult to distribute the warmth so that the wearer wouldn’t feel like they were in a sauna. said Sauvage in a statement. The pants will be sold on Amazon.com in the wearable technology section for "over $340," but only for a limited period time of three months. However, there is one drawback that the phone charging trouser will not be suitable for machine wash. Speaking about the wireless charging trousers, Adam Johnson, head of ...

Despite BlackBerry's multiple attempts to create a developer ecosystem around the BlackBerry 10 platform, uptake has been slow. The company tried to get around this by offering an Android runtime. Developers were also free to port their Android applications and bring it to the BlackBerry application store. Savvy users could also sideload APK files directly. This was however far from an intuitive solution. Enter BlackBerry's new partnership with Amazon. “Making the Amazon Appstore available on BlackBerry 10 devices will help BlackBerry continue to meet two essential needs: greater app availability for our smartphone users and enhanced productivity solutions for enterprises,” said BlackBerry Executive Chairman and CEO John Chen. With the introduction of the Amazon Appstore, BlackBerry 10 device users will have access to over 240,000 Android applications already available on the store. This includes a wide variety of extremely popular apps including Candy Crush Saga, Minecraft, Netflix and Groupon. BlackBerry will on the other hand shift its developer focus towards enterprise solutions and secure applications. The two companies will work together to help existing BlackBerry developers to migrate their applications to the Amazon Appstore to be ready in time for the launch of BlackBerry OS 10.3. The move brings interesting ramifications for ...

At an event in Seattle, Amazon finally pulled the veil off its much awaited smartphone. Called the Fire Phone, it is meant to capitalize on the digital ecosystem that the company has created around the likes of its Kindle hardware and the new Fire TV. The phone runs a forked version of Android which at first glance appears to be very similar to the one on Amazon's tablet efforts. Specifications of the handset will not leave anyone wanting. Under the hood is a 2.2Ghz Quad Core processor paired with 2GB of RAM which will guarantee a "fast and fluid" interface in Amazon's words. The camera hardware too is quite impressive with a 13MP sensor, f/2.0 5 element lens and an optical image stabilization system that should aid low light imagery. Additionally, the phone has a dedicated camera button which is essential for every device in our humble opinion. The phone has a 4.7 inch 720p display capable of upto 590 nits of brightness. That last bit should ensure superior day light visibility. The device runs on Fire OS 3.5 which is Amazon's forked version of Android. There's a 2400 mAh battery powering the show here. The phone includes a dedicated button to ...
