Last month's rumors about the HTC Volantis claimed that it would be Google’s next Nexus tablet. Now @evleaks has revealed details about the tablet and has also posted a macro shot of the tablet. According to @evelaks the earlier leaks that showed the render or concept of the tablet is fake. The tablet is expected to be powered by a 64-bit Tegra K1 SoC and would have aluminum unibody design, that coincides with the earlier leak. The test device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip and has a 5GB DDR3 RAM, but the final retail unit might not feature 5GB RAM. It also has a 8.9-inch (1680 x 1050 pixels) display, but the final unit is expected to come with 2560×1600 pixels display, so the display should be sharper than the Nexus 10. Earlier leak revealed that it would feature a 8.9-inch (2048×1440 pixels) display. The prototype has 64GB of onboard storage and 5MP rear camera with 1080p, but the final unit might come with a 8-megapixel camera as rumored earlier. It would also feature stereo front-facing speakers with Boomsound technology. The Android Silver OS Alpha 1.4 marking on the image hints that this could be the company's first Android SIlver tablet and not the Nexus 9 as previous rumors suggested. According to ...

Qualcomm has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Wilocity which is working on chips for the next-generation of Wi-Fi, known as WiGig and 802.11ad. Founded in 2007, the Israeli startup is a chip designer that uses the 60 gigahertz spectrum to transfer data at gigabit speeds over a relatively short distance, such as between a tablet and a PC or TV in a living room. Due to high-speed it covers much shorter distances and cannot penetrate walls. Wilocity said its chips can get up to 4 gigabits to 5 gigabits per second, compared to hundreds of megabits a second for Wi-Fi. WiGig will play an important role in Qualcomm’s strategy to address consumers’ increasingly sophisticated smartphone, tablet and computing requirements to support applications—such as immediate streaming of 4K video and high throughput peer-to-peer communication to enable the next generation of social interactions between users sharing content,” said Amir Faintuch, president, Qualcomm Atheros in a statement. Qualcomm which has invested in Wilocity since 2008, aims to integrate it technology via a tri-band package, complete with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. 60 GHz technology complements traditional Wi-Fi with zones of ultra-high-speed connectivity, while expanding the wireless use cases for high-end mobile, computing and ...

Nokia is reportedly working on three Windows Phone 8.1 phones that are due for launch later this year. The three devices are - a high end device with 3D sensors - codename McLaren, mid-range 4.7inch display laden device - codename Superman and a low end device with codename Rock. If rumors from China are to be believed, Nokia is also prepping a successor to the long forgotten Lumia 820 in the form of Lumia 830. From the leaked images, one can infer that the build quality of the alleged Lumia 830 will be quite good with an Aluminum frame and a polycarbonate back. This device could also be the rumored Nokia Tesla handset. If that is the case, then this device could also be a replacement for the mid-range Lumia 720 and be called Nokia Lumia 730. The camera module on the back looks flat, but big and it could indicate a reasonably good camera unit on the alleged mid-range device. Even with Microsoft removing the need for mandatory capacitive keys on the front, Nokia has decided to give this Lumia device physical buttons instead of the on-screen ones.

The China based smartphone manufacturer recently announced its launch of what it calls the world’s slimmest phone. Dubbed the Elife S5.5, the USP of the phone is most definitely the aesthetics. Samsung Gear Fit Review

Unlike most wearable wrist gadgets, launched in the first half of 2014, Samsung Gear Fit is the only one that does not look like a police ankle monitor! (square). It is the best looking wrist gadget I have used, thus far. Samsung Gear Fit not only looks good but also juggles well, its dual functions - of being a Smart watch and a Fitness gear. I sported the watch gear for nearly a week, especially during outdoor running, gyming activities. Samsung Gear Fit does pull a lot of attention for its bright screen and distinguished shape. I too, savored its good looks and smooth touch screen till I eventually began to see its not all perfect. From step one i.e. charging, why does the charging for a wearable gadget have to be so complicated? Samsung Gear Fit requires 2 equipments (I'd like to call them that). One, a charging cradle (very easy to misplace) and second a different charger (which is not the same as your Samsung Galaxy phone). Once charged, the device does not last for more than 5 hours, on average use because of its bright screen. Gear Fit’s specification page suggests 3 to 4 days on typical usage! Wear-ability: I found ...

Samsung has taken an aim at Apple iPhone's poor battery life in its latest Samsung Galaxy S5 ad. The electronic tech giant is calling iPhone users as "wall huggers" thereby suggesting the weak battery life of the phone. The one minute long ad shows iPhone users sitting next to power outlets on airports and not doing basic anything else. It taunts them as "tethered to walls" struggling to keep the battery on their phone. In contrast, the ad features Samsung Galaxy S5 users enjoying  their device while Apple owners look on with envy. Moving on, the ad also shows a Galaxy S5 user changing the battery, a feature not present in the Apple's iPhone. Battery life is one of the most important part of a smartphone ecosystem that people definitely consider before buying one.At the end of the ad Samsung advises iPhone users to stop being “wall huggers”, because they can now get an S5. Galaxy S5 is the flagship device by Samsung that was unveiled in February. The 5.1-inch Galaxy S5 boasts of a fingerprint sensor, a water resistant casing, and a heart rate sensor.
