Swipe ties up with UniverCell to foray into South Indian market

Swipe has announced its foray into South Indian market by partnering with UniverCell Telecommunications. The company launched MTV Slash 2, MTV Slash 3G and MTV Slash 4X devices in the Swipe 3D Life Plus and Swipe MTV Series, which will be available exclusively  at UniverCell stores across South India. It raised Rs 30 crore from Bangalore-based Kalaari Capital back in April. Back in July 2012 it raised $10 million from Pune-based Mantra Ventures. The company tied up with MTV to launch a range of smartphones and phablets It launched new Konnect series of budget smartphones recently. Launching the Swipe tablet range, Sathish Babu, Founder, UniverCell Telecommunication said, It is the right move by Swipe and the right time to enter South Indian Market. In order to boost the growth of Tablets, manufacturers are focusing on offering technologically advanced products at affordable prices and retailers are coming up with innovative marketing campaigns. Samsung Galaxy F surfaces in new live image

Samsung Galaxy F, the company's rumored high-end smartphone with metal build has surfaced in a new live image that reveals the phone's metal rim. Live images of the smartphone surfaced last month and the renders showed up soon after, showing the smartphone in several colors including gold.  According to earlier rumors the Galaxy F would feature a 5.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2560×1440, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 805 processor and come with IP67 ratings for water and dust resistance. According to the leak, the phone has a metal frame, similar to the iPhone 5/5s and would come with removable plastic back. In the earlier leak and the render, the front-facing camera was present on the other side of the earpiece, but the new leak shows the camera next to the sensors, so it raises a doubt the authenticity of this image. Motorola starts rolling out Android 4.4.4 update for Moto X, Moto G and Moto E in India

Few weeks after Google pushed out the Android 4.4.4 update for the Nexus devices, Motorola has announced that the it has started rolling out Android 4.4.4 update for the Moto X, Moto G  and Moto E users in India, skipping the Android 4.4.3 (KitKat) update that started rolling out in the US early June . This minor update would bring all the features present in the Android 4.4.3 update, including improved dialer with a new interface, new colors to enhance consistency and usability and several stability, framework and security fixes in addition to accuracy improvements to the power profile. The Android 4.4.4 update would also bring fixes to vulnerability in OpenSSL and other security and  stability improvements, which might improve your Android experience. We are yet to receive the update on our Moto E and Moto G devices. Since Motorola just started rolling out the update, it might arrive in coming days.

Apple reportedly hires Tag Heuer VP of sales for iWatch

Apple has hired Patrick Pruniaux, Vice President of Sales and Retail at Tag Heuer, according to a report from 9to5 Mac. Tag Heuer CEO revealed in an interview to CNBC that Apple has hired sales director of luxury Swiss watch maker TAG Heuer for its iWatch. Apple has been in a hiring spree, adding several people to its iWatch team. Last year it hired Nike design director Ben Shaffer and earlier this year the company reportedly hired a sleep expert from Philips. According to the CNBC report, Jean-Claude Biver, head of Jewelry and Watches at TAG Heuer's parent company LVMH said he was happy for the employee as the new role represents a great opportunity for him. He said, "If it had been a direct competitor, I would have felt a bit betrayed, but if he goes to Apple I think it is a great experience for him" According to recent reports, the iWatch would feature a 2.5-inch screen with a slightly rectangular face. Oppo launched the Find 7, the company’s first smartphone with a Quad HD screen and a Snapdragon 801-powered last month. We already brought you the benchmarks and review of the Oppo Find 7a with a 1080p screen, here we have the benchmarks of the Oppo Find 7. LG G Pad 10.1 global roll out begins, coming to US, Europe, Asia and more markets this month

LG unveiled the G Pad 7.0, G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 10.1 in the G Pad series back in May. The LG G Pad 7.0 went on sale starting from Europe last month. Today the company has announced that the G Pad 10.1 would roll out globally starting from this month. The G Pad 10.1 has a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) WXGA IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with a new flat UI. It also has a range of features present in the LG G3, including Touch & Shoot, Gesture Shot, Smart Keyboard and Dual Window. The QPair 2.0 lets you connect it to other Android-powered tablets and smartphones via a simple Bluetooth to receive notifications of calls and messages on that and respond directly from the G Pad. We brought you our review of the Samsung Gear Fit that marries a curved display to a fitness tracker. The Sony Smartband SWR10 takes a decidedly different approach to the same goal. Does it succeed? We find out in our review. Hardware There's not much to the hardware of the Sony Smartband SWR10. Comprising of two separate parts, the Core is what contains all the sensors. Measuring just about an inch in length and half of that in width, the Core slots into the wristband provided alongside. The underside of the Core is curved to make sure it sits comfortably on your wrist. A button is placed along the edge and there are three LEDs as well over here which light up in line with various functions and notifications. The button is used to switch between day and night modes and can also be used as a trigger for Life bookmarks. Google Now is getting an occasional reminder option that will alert you about your tasks and to do list.  Users will be asked by Google to set reminders for tasks.  They can choose from options including “today,” “tomorrow” and “occasionally.”   Recurring alarms for a particular task can be set along with one-time reminder based on your time or location. In order to dismiss an occasional reminder users will only have to swipe them. It is unclear how occasionally will Google remind the tasks, but reportedly it’s around two or three days. Google Now has got various interesting cards since past few months. In May parking reminder cards were added to Google Now followed by alerts for your stop on public transport card in June. Lumia 830 render spotted with ‘Nokia by Microsoft’ branding

Last week image leaks of the alleged Nokia Lumia 830 images surfaced online. Now, a latest leak from Chinese website shows the so called Lumia 830 with a branding mark that reads " Nokia by Microsoft". The phone in the previous and the latest image is the same however, the former did not have the branding mark while the latter has one at the back of  it. Touted as the successor of Lumia 820, the phone reportedly has an aluminum frame with a polycarbonate back cover. The Lumia 830 is expected to have a 13 MP PureView camera with a lens made by Zeiss. Also from the images it looks like it has a smaller and more compact camera module on the back.  Unfortunately not a lot of information is available about the specifications of this device right now except that it might have a 4.5 or 4.7 inch screen. Sony releasing a selfie focused smartphone tomorrow

Rumors that were looming around for a while suggested that Sony will be launching a smartphone in second half of 2014. To add more fuel to these speculations, images of alleged selfie smartphone by Sony has emerged online. Also, the company has released a tweet on Twitter that reads "See your #selfies in a whole new light". Also, there are hashtags that say get the full picture tomorrow and has a date 8th July 2014 on an image that shows few girls in a selfie shot. This pretty much makes it clear that Sony is in fact launching a selfie focused smartphone. Images of the phone were leaked on two websites that claims the Sony smartphone with front facing flash. As per the images from Geeky gadgets, the phone has a code name Gina and features a front facing camera that will supposedly have a flash. Another image provides a rear view of the device with Sony battery which is removable. Android powered Lumia phones reportedly in the works

Render images of a possible Nokia Lumia 830 surfaced online today that has trademark 'Nokia by Microsoft'. Now, report is coming from the popular leakster @evleaks saying that an Android-powered Lumia phone is coming under the same branding. This is first time any report or a leak has suggested that Microsoft it thinking of making a Lumia handset running on Google's Android OS. @evleaks revealed the news on his website that reads "Big news: Android-powered Lumia incoming, from Nokia by Microsoft,”. Nokia already has Android phone in the market under the brand name Nokia X that runs on Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Given that Android is one of the biggest competitor of Microsoft, it is puzzling why would Microsoft take such a step. The latest revelation by @evleaks raise a lot of questions like, Will Nokia kill the Nokia X range and bring it under the Lumia 'Nokia by Microsoft brand? What will happen to Windows Phone once there are Lumia Android phones in the market?
