Xiaomi Mi3 sellout on Flipkart: How many devices?

0
0
As expected, Xiaomi continued their flash sale marketing with their first sale in India on 22nd July. This came after a week of registrations, when over a lakh Indians registered to be eligible to buy the device when it goes on sale. With a VFM proposition as lucrative as the Xiaomi Mi3's it wasn't surprising that the device got sold out in under 40 minutes of going on sale. All of this made for a pretty headline, and as you'd expect from Xiaomi -- who now know the tricks of the trade inside out -- the news was shared across their social media accounts soon after. However, neither Xiaomi nor Flipkart gave a figure as to how many devices they actually sold in the 38 minutes and 50 seconds. According to BGR India, citing 'sources privy to the information', the number of devices on sale was under 10,000. Although this in no manner is bad business for considering the time duration of 40 minutes, but given that over a lakh hopefuls participated in the registration activity, one would've expected the Xiaomi-Flipkart duo to roll out a bit more (read: a few thousand more) devices for sale. OnePlus hand out 5,000 invites for the OnePlus One

China's Xiaomi might be in the forefront these days, but compatriot OnePlus is making sure there's still some thunder left for them. After Xiaomi launched their Mi4 smartphone two days back, OnePlus hit back in their own style. With just one phone in their kitty yet, OnePlus handed out a wholesome 5,000 invites for the OnePlus One. For those who aren't aware, 'invites' are something that you require to be eligible for a One purchase. Might sound strange to those who aren't in line with the concept, but OnePlus say that invites allow them to cut the middleman and give the benefit to the end user, which, in a way, does make sense. The device was initially released on April 23rd with very limited availability. However, with time and better production capacity, OnePlus was able to churn out a better number of devices, resulting in wider availability. The smartphone is still only available in the 11 official launch countries, however, scalpers (mainly Chinese) are offering the device to customers worldwide, saving a cut for themselves. We're working on a OnePlus One review that should be out soon, so stay tuned! Via

Foursquare rebrands app, unveils new logo

Foursquare has announced a major overhaul to its app along with a brand new logo. For starters, the app has chucked its traditional 'check-ins' and has shifted it to Swarm. "Everyone explores the world differently – guided by their own unique tastes, their friends, and the people they trust. Local search has never been good at this. It doesn’t get you, and, as a result, everyone gets the same one-size-fits-all results. Why should two very different people get the same recommendations when they visit Paris? Or the same list of places when they’re looking for a bar? We’re about to change that. In a couple of weeks, we’re rolling out a brand new version of Foursquare that’s all about you" posted Foursquare in a company blog Earlier in May, Foursquare un-bundle some of its core features into a separate app, called Swarm. The Swarm app was soon launched on Android and iOS after the announcement. With the latest revamp, Foursquare is now focusing on offering personalized local search and location discovery. Meanwhile, Swarm will be responsible only for check ins. All your past Foursquare check-ins, friends, and photos will automatically transition over to Swarm. The app has a new navigation bar at the bottom, ...

Yesterday, a video released by HTC showed a smartwatch which was believed to be its own creation. But, the company today has dismissed all reports regarding the watch saying it is just a prototype. "HTC encourages our design team to explore and tinker with new ideas and even models, as is the case with the watch some viewers noticed in our recent HTC Design video. It in no way indicates an actual product HTC is planning to release. Keep an eye on this space for exciting new products from HTC when they are ready to be announced!" reads HTC’s official statement regarding the mysterious wearable.
