Maxx Mobile has launched MSD7 Smarty AXD21, the company's first smartphone running Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 4-inch WVGA screen, powered by a 1GHz dual-core MediaTek processor, has a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and VGA front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support, 3G connectivity and comes pre-loaded with MAXX World, MAXX life Box, MAXX Care, MAXX New Launch, Getit, OLX, Flipkart, Hungama, Opera Mini, Wechat, Gameloft games and more apps.
It has 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage with expansion slot and 1450 mAh battery. It has leather-like finish on the back. The company launched 26 new phones including seven Android Smartphones earlier this year.

Microsoft has updated Outlook.com for Android with several features. The app now syncs email history and adds the ability to access them in the cloud. The update also adds unlimited syncing of emails and these can be checked even when a user is offline.
Outlook for Android now allows users to access all the mails with the help of server search and not just access those which are synced to your phone. In addition, the update adds the ability to send emails from Outlook.com aliases. The latest version gives some new tweaks to Outlook with different colors and themes. Users can choose from eight colors to customize the app interface.
Finally, the update will let users set and manage vacation replies and the app now supports traditional Chinese language. Microsoft had updated the Android app last year with new UI and features. Earlier in April this year, the company launched its Outlook for Web app on Android.

Google is developing a Knowledge graph tool that pulls data from Wikipedia to create interactive timelines based on the item being searched. The feature generates content from Wikipedia in a periodic manner about search queries.
Chrome and Search enthusiast Florian Kiersch has posted screenshots of a new Knowledge Graph tool that automatically generates timelines of broad historical topics that are taken from Wikipedia. Kiersch gave a gist of the feature with few examples where a simple search for 'Google' showed all the details about the company, its founders and other important events in an yearly order. Another screenshot related to a search about World War I showed a timeline above your main search results. These interactive search results can be navigated by a user.
Kiersch stated that the new search feature is in its nascent stage and will be ready in about three months. It is not clear if the feature is limited to only desktop or mobile. He has also posted a small video on its Google+ page that showcases the feature.

Soon after Flipkart announced that it has secured $1 billion in latest funding, Amazon has revealed that it is investing $2 billion in India. The e-commerce firm stated that the funds would be used to support its rapid growth and continue to enhance the customer and seller experience in India.

Amazon announced 7-inch and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX tablets with Snapdragon 800 chips last September. Now a new 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX tablet with Snapdragon 805 has surfaced on AnTuTu database. According to the listing, it would be powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 GPU with Adreno 420 GPU and run on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) with Fire OS on top.
Other specifications of the tablet are similar to last year's version, including a 8.9-inch ( 2560 x 1600 pixels) display at 339 ppi, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1-megapixel front-facing camera and 2GB RAM. Connectivity and battery capacity of the tablet are not available yet. According to AnTuTu, Amazon is expected to be testing this Kindle Fire HDX tablet with a faster processor.
One of the main aspects of the Kindle Fire HDX tablets were its competitive price tag for its specifications, so the upcoming tablets are likely to be priced in similar range. It is not clear when Amazon plans to launch the tablets. Hope we can expect the refreshed tablet range in coming months.
Microsoft has updated OneNote for Mac, iPhone and iPad to make it more organized and productive. The note taking app from Microsoft allows users to insert documents, PDFs and audio and video files into their notes from Mac as well as iOS devices.

It even includes improved integration between the OneNote and OneDrive.
The Mac, iPhone, and iPad updates are now available to download in the iTunes App Store.

Panasonic has officially launched the Eluga U, the company's latest smartphone in the Eluga series in India. It was spotted online yesterday and packs a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display based on one-glass-solution with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

BlackBerry has bought mobile security firm Secusmart with an aim to secure voice and data. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
A German based company, Secusmart specializes in voice and data encryption. BlackBerry and Secusmart have been partners since 2009 and they have teamed up in the past to bring Secusmart's technology to BlackBerry. SecuSUITE for BlackBerry 10 was selected last year by Germany's Federal Office for Information Security for the government's classified communications.

Microsoft has just announced the next minor update to their mobile platform, called the Windows Phone 8.1 Update. The update brings the highly awaited Cortana personal assistant to markets like China, with extra localization, as a beta and countries like India, Australia and Canada, as an alpha. Apart from Cortana rolling out to other countries, the update also brings some extra user-facing additions like support for Live Folders on the start screen and better VPN support and so on. The update is rolling out next week for phones running on the developer preview and will eventually roll out later to Windows Phone 8.1 devices in the coming months.

Cortana for China - Called "Xiao Na", the assistant is heavily localized with additions like Air quality metrics with weather, Mandarin support in voice, text and speech, ability to track local TV shows and celebrities, and even has a different avatar. (check image below)

Xiaomi launched its Mi3 smartphone at a competitive price tag of Rs. 13999 in India. It sold 20,000 units of the smartphone in the first two batches of sale. At the launch the company announced that it would launch several accessories such as Power Banks, In-the-ear headset and flip covers for the Mi3.
The Xiaomi Mi Power banks are now listed on Flipkart along with pricing, but it is currently out of stock. The 10400 mAh power bank is priced at just Rs. 999 and the 5200 mAh bank would cost Rs. 799. These have aluminum casing and uses dual battery cell technology. The battery pack is designed by Texas Instruments.
The Mi3 doesn't come with a headset in the box. Xiaomi said that it would sell the official headset separately. The Mi ZBW4122IN in-ear headset is also listed on Flipkart, which is priced at Rs. 999. It is also out of stock. The Mi3 Flip covers are priced at Rs. 559, again this is also not in stock.

Samsung has announced update to its Kids Store which is available in Kids Mode on Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Tab S. The update has added new child friendly applications to the store.
“The average age at which children using ‘smart devices’ for the first time has become lower than before. Samsung is committed to providing interesting and educational content to children, while continuing its effort to help parents protect their children and allow them to enjoy safe, parent-approved content in their daily lives.”
said WonPyo Hong, President of the Media Solution Center at Samsung Electronics.
The latest addition brings the store to over 900 fun and educational apps specially selected for children. Apps in the Samsung Kids Store have been categorized into three subjects: learning, play and story. They have also been grouped for children 0-4 years old, 5-6 and 7+. The Store includes free gifts of over $50, and allows allows children to download apps from the Kids Store section and they can only purchase content approved by their parents via a password.
The Kids Store is available in 150 countries around the world.
Recently Samsung applied for Gear S patent at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) . This is likely to be a wearable device since it has Gear in its name, so it could be a smartwatch. Yesterday, Samsung applied for new smartwatch design patents at USPTO. All these have rounded or circular faces, unlike square faces present in its current Gear smartwatches.
The images in the patent also reveals cameras on the strap, similar to the first Galaxy Gear smartwatch. it also mentions gesture controls that is not available in current Samsung smartwatches.
The charging port is present in the bracelet closure, according to the images in the patent. It doesn't reveal the specifications of the smartwatch or whether it would run on Tizen or Android Wear. Samsung already has Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo running Tizen OS and Gear Live running on Android Wear.

Samsung plans to announce the Galaxy Alpha on August 4th, according to Sammobile. Unlike the Galaxy S series or the Galaxy Note series, the Galaxy Alpha would have aluminium build on the sides, but it would come with mid-range specifications, according to earlier reports. Live images of the smartphone showed up online last week, confirming the Galaxy Alpha name and Android KitKat OS.
According to earlier reports, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha would come with a 4.8-inch 720p display, Android 4.4 (KitKat), 32GB internal storage without expansions slot, fingerprint scanner, heart rate monitor, LTE support, nano SIM slot and faux leather back. Other specifications are not available currently. Since the announcement is expected to next Monday, more details about the smartphone is expected later this week.

Thanks to whistle-blowers like Edward Snowden, privacy has become a public topic of discussion these days, which is always a good thing. We have spoken about a 4G LTE variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note that was believed to be in the works previously, but today was the first time that we got to have a look at the very device. Ditching the octa-core MediaTek processor for a better-compatible, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928, the 4G LTE version of the Redmi Note looks more or less identical to the initial version. The Redmi (Hongmi) got similar treatment from Xiaomi when it was updated to a Snapdragon 400 SoC from the MT6582 earlier this year.
The Xiaomi Mi 4 is the company's first ever LTE phone, and the Redmi Note might soon join the league if you go by the leaks. It's expected to feature the same 5.5-inch 720p display, 2GB RAM (and maybe a 1GB RAM variant), a 13 mega-pixel main camera and Android v4.2 Jelly Bean.
