Gionee has announced that it will roll out the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for its M2 smartphone on September 5th in India. It was launched back in February running Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). The company released Android KitKat update for the Pioneer P4 in India earlier this week. It rolled out KitKat update for the Elife E7 mini and Elife S5.5 smartphones in India few weeks back.
Along with the Android 4.4′s features such as wireless printing, support for emojis and more, this update should bring a new homescreen layout, update for Amigo Paper, Game Zone, UC browser, Kingsoft Office and more, similar to other smartphones. The company did not reveal any details regarding the KitKat update for the Elife E7 that went on sale earlier this year.

HTC device codenamed flounder appeared twice in May. Rumors about the HTC-made Nexus tablet condemned Volantis surfaced in June. Recently a HTC tablet running Android L has been spotted at Wi-Fi Alliance website that is believed to be the upcoming Nexus tablet. According to the certification, it has Broadcom BCM4345 WiFi Chip with dual-band WiFi. It also shows 3 separate model numbers: 0P8210000, 0P8220000, and 0P823000.
According to earlier rumors, the HTC-made Nexus tablet would come with a 8.9″ (2048 × 1440 pixels) (281ppi), NVIDIA Tegra K1 64-bit processor, 2GB RAM, 16/32GB internal storage, 8MP rear camera with Sony sensor, 3MP front facing camera, Stereo front-facing speakers and aluminium build. Some rumors that said it will come with 5GB RAM turned out to be fake. It will be 7.9mm thick and weigh 418 grams. It is expected to come in WiFi and LTE variants.
Some rumors suggested that the tablet would arrive in the third quarter of 2014, but Q3 is going to end this month. Google is also expected to unveil the Motorola-made Nexus smartphone codenamed Shamu with a Quad HD display and Snapdragon 805 processor soon.

Not too long back, the concept of a phone that you could upgrade and configure based on your whims and fantasies only looked like a sci-fi movie scene. However, thanks to the tremendous technological advancements that we've seen in the recent years, the modular phone idea is on the verge of being reality.
What's more, it is none other than Google that's working on a project such as this one -- Project Ara -- so you can rest assured it's not going to be restricted due to lack of budget or resources. In fact, a few early prototypes are already going around, hinting at what could be the future, very soon.
These prototypes feature chipsets from Texas Instruments (OMAP 4460 to be precise). However, Google just announced that Project Ara modules will be compatible with SoCs from China based fabricator Rockchip.
Rockchip is best known for making high-performance SoCs at a very affordable cost. However, the company has usually dealt in TV boxes and Android tablets, so something like the Project Ara will be a completely new platform for the company.

Flipkart has just sent us an invite for a tablet launch in partnership with Intel. The invite reads What's in red, grey, pearl white and blue? It will be powered by an Intel processor. It is clear that it's going to be a tablet, looking from the invite. It has an earpiece on the top, so it is likely to come with voice calling capabilities. Since it is is more wider than normal 7-inch tablets, it could have a screen that is 8-inches or more.
Flipkart launched Digiflip Pro XT 712, its first tablet under its Digiflip brand back in June. It's a decent tablet compared to other tablets in the price range. Large-screen tablets with a screen size of over 8-inch will not be comfortable for voice calling, since it might be comfortable to hold. Let us see what Flipkart has to offer next week.
The teaser doesn't reveal the specifications of the tablet. Flipkart asks us to wait till the launch day, August 27th for a better clue. We will be there at the event to bring you more details about the tablet on launch day.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has been making its rounds for quite some time in the rumorland, but today, we find the device already floating in the Malaysian market. One of the countries authorized retailer – SenHeng has listed the phablet as available.
It has to be noted that the company hasn’t officially announced the Mega 2 yet, so the listing might actually be a blunder on the retailer’s part.
We confirmed the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 with our exclusive coverage and accordingly, the Mega 2 comes with 6-inch HD display, Exynos processor with quad-core 1.5GHz CPU and Mali 400 GPU. The phablet features 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory with microSD card support and an 8 megapixel rear camera.
The Galaxy Mega 2 will run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and will be powered by a 2,800mAh battery. The smartphone will be up for grabs in black or white color schemes. Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will carry a price tag of RM 1,299 (about $411) in Malaysia.

Intex has launched Cloud FX, the company's first smartphone running on Firefox OS, as it promised back in June. It has a 3.5-inch HVGA screen, powered by a 1GHz processor, has a 2-megapixel rear camera and comes with dual SIM support, similar to the Firefox reference design that was unveiled earlier this year. It has 2G (EDGE) connectivity.
The Firefox OS is based on HTML5, has Adaptive App Search or the Single Window Search and comes pre-loaded with Facebook, Twitter and more apps. It also has Firefox marketplace to download more apps. Spice launched the Spice Fire One Mi-FX 1, it's first Firefox OS smartphone last week priced at Rs. 2,299.

Sony has launched the Xperia C3, the company's latest selfie-focused smartphone in India. It was unveiled last month and packs a 5.5-inch HD display, 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor and Android 4.4 (KitKat). The Micromax Bolt A082 is priced at Rs. 4,399 online. It is currently on sale only in White color, but it would also be available in a range of colors such as Blue, Violet, Yellow and Red colors.
Moto X+1 had appeared in GFX benchmark last week with some detailed specifications. Now, HelloMotoHK has released some more specs of the phone stating that it will have an optical zoom and along with a 3D display.
Previous leaks had suggested that the Moto X+1 will have 12MP rear camera that supports 4K UHD and 2MP front facing camera but nothing was mentioned about an optical zoom. Moving on the report further states that the device will also feature an advanced versions of features such as touch-less control and active display which were originally used in the Moto X.
Meanwhile, a Brazilian retailer Livraria Logos has listed the Moto X+1 in black, leather and bamboo wood option. The listings also show a model number of XT1097 which is similar to the one found in GFX benchmarks. Last month the Moto X+1 photo with wooden back panel had surfaced. Also, @evleaks had released some press images of the phone last week.

Samsung has started teasing features of the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 smartphone that would be unveiled on September 3rd in Berlin at its Unpacked 2014 Episode 2, ahead of IFA. The first video titled Your Note for Handwriting emphasises on the smartphone's handwriting feature using the S Pen. The second video titled Note for Crafting that was released earlier today hints at new note taking and editing features.
Description says, Expect more on your Note for writing. The Galaxy Note 3 brought Air Command that included Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window and more new features. It also had automatic conversion of handwritten notes, contact numbers or addresses into digital memos.

Image of Lumia 830 had surfaced online last month and the phone was spotted with 'Nokia by Microsoft' branding. Today, the phone has visited Brazilian FCC Anatel who has also leaked more photos of the phone.
The leaked photos show the phone under the model number RM-985 in full black with volume, power/lock, and a dedicated camera button situated on the right side of the device. The phone has the round camera at the back which is expected to be a 13 MP PureView along with lens made by Zeiss. Internals of the phone have “Microsoft Mobile” branding while in the front it still bears the Nokia branding. As per Anatel documents, the purported handset measures 139.4 mm x 70.7 mm x 8.5 mm, making it thinner than a number of Lumia handsets.
The phone will have a removable battery and back cover and physical navigation buttons which are usually present in most Windows Phone handsets. Also, Lumia 830 will support microSD card slot along with 4G LTE. Unfortunately the Brazil Anatel did not reveal any further information about the specifications of the Lumia 830 right now except that it might have a 4.5 or 4.7 inch screen.

Recent reports had stated iPhone 6 may include a reversible Lightning cable that allows you to plug it into USB ports from both the sides. However, it looks like the iPhone 6 will afterall come without the reversible USB.
A third party Apple retailer by the name Moca.co said that the company has not yet placed any order for the reversible USB cable from its manufacturing partner. The retailer claims that the reversible cable will miss the iPhone 6 launch and also will not be available to consumers this year.
We are informed by the Official Appointed Manufacturer of Apple that the new Reversible USB Cable will not be released together with upcoming iPhone 6 and Apple has not placed any order with them yet. Apple fans will not be able to get the MFi version of this revolutionary cable from Apple this year but that is not the end of the story.

The LG L60 X-147 is listed on Flipkart as LG L60 Dual, but it just says coming soon without any price tag or availability details. It is expected to go official in coming weeks.
HTC just confirmed that it would unveil the Desire 820, successor of the Desire 816 at its IFA 2014 event on September 4th 2014. The company has also teased the smartphone with an image that shows the smartphone's front-facing camera sensor, blue colored rear shell and something that looks like a speaker grill, similar to the one on the Desire 816 smartphone.
Qualcomm has teased a smartphone with its 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with an image that looks exactly like HTC's image. The chip has 8 ARM Cortex A53 cores ( four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz per core and four clocked at 1.0 GHz per core), Adreno 405 GPU, 4G LTE support and Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) capabilities.
We don't have the complete specifications of the smartphone yet. The HTC's IFA event is scheduled for September 4th at 8AM CEST (11:30 AM IST).

Recently Flipkart sent out press invites for the launch of its Intel Atom-powered tablet on August 27th. Today the online retailer has posted a teaser image of the tablet with Digiflip Pro and Intel brandings on the back. The image has the wordings Packed with features. Powered by intelligence. This clearly shows that it would be powered by Intel processor and come with new features that were not present in its Digiflip Pro XT 712 tablet.
The teaser image shows a microSD card slot on the side. According to a report from AndroidOS.in, Flipkart plans to launch three new tablets later this week with 7-inch, 8-inch and 8.9-inch display sizes and Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It also adds that the tablets would be upgraded to Android 4.4 (KitKat) and is expected to be priced between Rs. 5,999 and Rs. 15,999.
Other specifications of the tablets are not available at the moment. Still there is one more day before the it goes official, so Flipkart is likely to post another teaser image before the launch.

Oppo launched the N1 Mini, a smaller variant of the Oppo N1 in India recently for Rs. 26,990. It has a 5-inch 720p screen, compared to the 5.9-inch 1080p screen on the Oppo N1. It is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, instead of Snapdragon 600 processor on the N1. Otherwise, it has exactly the same 13-megapixel swivel camera on the top, has ceramic back and aluminum frame, similar to the N1. Check out the unboxing below.
