Xiaomi's products are often affordable enough for the general public. However, if you thought there was scope for improvement, Xiaomi has you covered. According to outlets based in China, Xiaomi is working on an updated version of the Redmi Note, and a more affordable, knocked down variant of the flagship Mi 4. WATCH: Xiaomi Redmi Note Unboxing The current crop of Redmi Note phones come with either the 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processors or the slower, 1.4GHz octa-core MT6592m processors. The updated version though, is said to feature the new and improved MediaTek MT6595 that powers the Meizu MX4. It's worthy to note that although the MediaTek MT6595 is an octa-core chip, not all eight cores function at once. This version of the Redmi Note, besides getting a faster processor, will also come with more RAM (3GB) and more pixels (1080p, vs. 720p). Moving on to the knocked-down Mi 4, its being said that this version will feature just 2GB of RAM instead of the standard 3GB that we see on the device. This will certainly help keep costs down, and bring the phone to a more MX4-rivaling category in terms of price (the MX4 sells for 1799 Yuan/US$293 in China). What's more, this version ...

Google has updated Chrome apps for mobile with a bunch of new features. The company had announced in January that Chrome apps for iPhone and Android are coming later this year. Latest update brings Chrome apps closer to native built mobile apps with richer notifications and sign-ins. "The newest version of Chrome Apps for Mobile includes Chrome APIs for identity, Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) and rich notifications, as well as an improved developer workflow and modern WebView capabilities extended to older versions of Android." posted Michal Mocny, Chrome Apps for Mobile Engineer and Mobile Magic Maker in a company blog post. In order to show off some of the new functionality, Google has packaged its Topeka Polymer web app as a Chrome App for Mobile. Moreover, Chromium WebView, which was introduced as part of Android 4.4 KitKat, is now available on any device running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and higher.  A new feature dubbed as live deploy will now give you the ability to instantly preview the Chrome App you are editing on your Android or iOS device. Google is aiming towards reducing the difference between Chrome and Android platform. Earlier this week, the company launched four Android apps for Chromebooks. via:Google Chromium Blog

Lenovo Vibe X2 listed on official Indian website, launch imminent?

0
Out of the many devices that got unveiled at the IFA earlier this month, only a few went on to truly stand out. And the Vibe X2 from Lenovo was certainly one. Not only does the smartphone pack a punch with powerful internals, but it is also one of the most eye-pleasing devices to have seen light of day this year. Lenovo claim the Vibe X2 to be the world's first 'layered smartphone'; we aren't really in a position to argue upon that, but we do admit that the phone does look quite unique with the design it has. Specifications 5-inch 1920 x 1080p display 2.0GHz MediaTek MT6595m octa-core CPU 2GB RAM 32GB non-expandable storage 13 megapixel rear camera 5 megapixel front camera 2300mAh non-removable battery Android v4.4 KitKat The specifications aren't chartbusting in any way, but the Vibe X2 isn't meant to be a flagship. It's rather aimed at those who like let their phones reflect a bit of their style. There's no word on a date when the Vibe X2 will be available in India. However, a listing on the official site means that it's only around the corner... SEE: Lenovo Vibe X2 Photo Gallery What price would you be happy to pay for the Vibe X2? Source

It isn't known yet about how much of this functionality would work on non-OnePlus phones, however. We only hope that these buds are a bit easier to get hold of than the OnePlus One itself. Even months after launch, people are finding it difficult to have the One in their hands. OnePlus did announce the pre-order policy ...
