YouTube introduces Music Key subscription service for Android, iOS and web

YouTube has introduced YouTube Music Key, the company's new subscription service for web, Android and iOS that lets you watch and listen to music without ads, in the background or offline. This was leaked back in August. You can watch favorite music videos, recommended music playlists based on what you’re into and playlists of trending music across YouTube for free. It has new pages that display an artist's entire discography and all the videos associated with their music. Android and iOS apps would be updated with these features soon. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMQxeb5ERps YouTube Music Key beta, monthly subscription service is available at a promotional price of US$7.99/month and the original price is US$9.99/month. This includes subscription to Google Play Music and the ability to watch YouTube official music videos right from the app in coming months. The YouTube Music Key will launch as invite-only beta next week and is likely to be U.S. only for now. Those who have an invite can try YouTube Music Key for six months for free. YouTube said its availability will expand over time.

Lenovo announced the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro in August and launched in India in September for Rs 32,999. The phone has a 6-inch ( 2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD display with ultra narrow bezels, powered 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 (8974AC) processor with Adreno 330 GPU and Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Vibe UI 2.0.  We went hands on with the Vibe Z2 smartphone at the IFA 2014. Lets take a look at hardware of the phone in this photo gallery. Vibe Z2 Pro has 5MP front-facing camera and the earpiece and LED notofication. There are three capacitive buttons below. At the top it has a 3.5mm audio jack. Loudspeaker grill and micro USB port are situated at the bottom. On the right side we can see SIM card slot and the power button. The volume rockers are situated on the left. The Vibe Z2 Pro is encompassed in a plastic body, it is sleek and measures 156 x 81.3 x 7.7 mm and weighs 179g. BlackBerry and Samsung team up to offer mobile security solutions to Android

BlackBerry and Samsung have joined hands to further boost mobile security solutions on Android. The security focused partnership will bring BlackBerry's encryption system to businesses using Samsung's Galaxy smartphones. In early 2015, Samsung will integrate BlackBerry's BES12 end-to-end encryption service, into its own Knox software. Samsung KNOX and BES12 will offer complete separation of business and personal data. The upcoming security suite will also provide enhancements that address some of the Android-specific security issues. It will bring a series of core security enhancements to better protect device integrity from kernel to apps. “BlackBerry has developed a very close partnership with Samsung and we’re committed to deepening the interaction between our engineering and product development teams for the long-term. It is a natural progression in our path to providing our customers with more alternatives to meet their evolving mobile needs. Samsung KNOX offers a number of hardware and software security features and our partnership allows us to tightly integrate these capabilities with BES12.” said John Sims, President of Global Enterprise Services, BlackBerry in a statement. The pricing and availability of this security solution is not known as yet. In July, Apple and IBM teamed up to bring iPhone and iPad to enterprise customers.

Sony unleashes AOSP source code for Xperia Z3, Z2 and Z1

Sony has posted source code and binaries for the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact. The company is yet to release the Android Lollipop Update for these devices, however it has already confirmed that it will release it soon. Last week, Sony announced Android 5.0 Lollipop beta test on Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3. Google pushed Lollipop source code to AOSP last week. Developers can use the kernel source to build a version of stock Android for these devices, or use it as the basis for a custom ROM. The source code and binaries released today can be used as a base for developing your own version of Android for devices from the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1 series, which have an unlocked boot loader. Sony said that there a couple of limitations like the camera is not working and the modem is not enabled, which means you cannot take photos or make phone calls. Microsoft rolls out Movie Creator App for Windows Phone

Microsoft has launched a new video editing app for Windows Phone. Dubbed as Movie Creator, the app which is currently in beta works only on Lumia phones and the Lumia 2520 tablet. The Movie creator app allows users to mix photos, videos, music, cinemagraphs, living images and location data into movies. Users can even choose from a wide range of themes and filters. The app lets you create movies using up to 25 videos you have recorded on your phone and they can be easily shared once are created. In addition to themes, you can also set captions for your masterpiece, or set it to a particular piece of music. Users can edit the length of your footage, freely move clips to different places on your video timeline and even pan, zoom, and rotate. BlackBerry Classic now available for pre-order at $449, launching on December 17

BlackBerry has started taking pre-order for the BlackBerry Classic, the company's latest top-end smartphone with a physical QWERTY keyboard. It is the successor of the BlackBerry Q10 that was launched last year. The Classic was originally announced as BlackBerry Q20 back in February and it was expected to launch this month. BlackBerry has not revealed the complete specifications of the BlackBerry Classic yet. It will have a  3.5-inch touch screen display, that is the largest display ever on a QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone, the company said at the announcement earlier this year. It runs on BlackBerry OS 10.3.1,  has HSPA+/  LTE connectivity via a nano SIM card. The BlackBerry Classic is now available for pre-order from the official BlackBerry Shop in the U.S. for US$ 449, in UK for 349 GBP and in France and Germany for 429 Euros. It is expected to ship mid-December 2014. BlackBerry will launch the smartphone at several events in  NYC, Frankfurt and Singapore on December 17th.

Oculus VR mobile SDK available for developers

Oculus Rift has released the mobile software development kit (SDK) for Samsung's Gear VR Innovation headset. The Gear VR is powered by the Oculus Mobile software and therefore comes with an official Mobile Software Development Kit that will encourage developers to prepare some apps for the new platform. The SDK carries source codes for three VR apps -  Oculus Cinema, Oculus 360 Photos and Oculus 360 Videos. All these apps come with an open licence which will help developers to modify or change any part in order to come up with their own creation. The Gear VR offers several fancy-sounding features that are supported by the Mobile SDK of Oculus. These include direct warped content, real-time CPU threading, fine grained GPU context switching in real time, GPU context priorities, clock frequency locking, direct front buffer rendering, and asynchronous timewarp. Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images for Nexus 4 now available

Google started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop over-the-air (OTA) update and released factory images and binaries for the Nexus 5, WiFi variants of both Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 7 2013 and the Nexus 10 earlier this week. Now the Factory images and binaries for the Nexus 4 is available for download. Factory images and binaries for the Nexus 6 is not available yet. Initially Google did not confirm the Android Lollipop update for the Nexus 4, later during the Android 5.0 announcement Googler Sascha Prüter clarified that the Nexus 4 will also receive the 5.0 update. Google did not provide the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the Galaxy Nexus last year since Google doesn't update its Nexus device beyond the 18 month period. Even though the Google Nexus 4 that was introduced back in October 2012 is over 18 month period, the company has provided Lollipop update for the smartphone, which makes the owners of the smartphone rejoice. The over-the-air (OTA) update for the Nexus 4 should also be rolling out soon. Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 went on sale in India recently. We already brought you the unboxing, photo gallery, benchmarks and the battery test results of the smartphone, here we have the camera samples from the smartphone. The Mega 2 has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/2.4 aperture. Other than the Auto mode, it has Beauty face, Shot & more, Panorama, Continuous shot and Night mode. It doesn't have HDR mode. The camera UI is similar to most other Samsung smartphones running on Android 4.4. ASUS ZenWatch lands on the US Google Play Store for $199

ASUS introduced the ZenWatch, the company's first smartwatch based on Android Wear platform at the IFA back in September. Now the smartwatch is available in the U.S. through Google Play and Best Buy, priced at $199.99 (Rs. 12,350 approx), cheaper than both the Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R. The ZenWatch has a 1.63” (320 x 320 pixels) AMOLED 2.5D curved glass screen and has a soft genuine stitched leather strap with quick release clasp. It is powered by a Snadpragon 400 chip, 4GB of internal storage and 512MB RAM, similar to other Android Wear smartwatches. It has IP55 ratings for water resistance and has a built-in microphone to listen to Google Now voice commands. Huawei Honor Holly Battery Test

Huawei launched Honor Holly, the company’s latest budget smartphone in India at a price tag of Rs. 6,999 recently. We already brought you the photo gallery of the smartphone, here we have the battery test results of the smartphone. The Honor Holly has a 2000mAh removable Lithium-ion battery. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, has a 5-inch HD display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Talk Time The smartphone lasted for 12 hours and 30 minutes in the talk time test, similar to the Xolo Q2100 smartphone. 3G Browsing In our 3G browsing test, the Honor Holly lasted for 5 hours and lies just behind the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2. WiFi Browsing In the Wi-Fi browsing test, it lasted for 5 hours and 15 minutes and lies behind most other smartphones. Video Playback In the video playback, it managed to last for just 7 hours and 8 minutes. The overall One Charge rating for the Honor Holly is 7:37 hours. This means the smartphone can be used for 7 hours and 37 minutes continuously before it runs out of juice. LG introduced the G Watch R, the company's second Android Wear smartwatch and the successor of the G Watch ahead of IFA. It is the second Android Wear smartwatch with a circular display after the Motorola Moto 360. It went on sale in the U.S. on Google Play recently, priced at $299. Microsoft introduced the Microsoft Band fitness tracker for US$ 199 few weeks back. We brought you the unboxing of the Microsoft Band recently, here we have the photo gallery of the smartband. It has a 1.3 x 0.43-inch,320 x 106-pixel TFT LCD touch screen display. On the front there is a microphone that lets you speak out voice commands since it has Cortana integration. The Microsoft Band works with Windows Phone 8.1, Android and iOS devices. If you receive a call, you can reply using text or dismiss an incoming call. Microsoft announced the Microsoft Band, its fitness tracker last month for $199. Along with the band the company also launched the new Microsoft Health platform. We have already seen the unboxing and photo gallery of the Microsoft Band, now lets compare it with Samsung Gear Fit that was launched in India earlier this year. The Microsoft Band has 1.3 x 0.43-inch,320 x 106-pixel TFT LCD touch screen display while the Gear Fit has wide 1.84-inch (432 x 128 pixels Curved Super AMOLED display. The former is 0.75" wide and 0.34" thick (19mm x 8.7mm) and weighs 60 g while the latter measures 23.4 x 57.4 x 11.95 mm and weighs 27g. The Microsoft band comes in different sizes – small (39mm), medium (41mm) and large (49mm). While the Gear Fit comes in a universal size and the straps can be changed to Black, Orange and Mocha Grey colors. The Microsoft Band has 10 smart sensors, including a UV sensor for sun exposure and a galvanic skin response measurement.
