Sony announced the Smartwatch 3 SWR50 in September this year. The company's first smartwatch that runs on Android Wear landed on the U.S. Google Play Store last month for $249.99. It has a 1.6-inch (320 x 320 pixels) TFT LCD capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. The smartwatch offers notification for messages, calls and more when connected to the smartphone over Bluetooth. The Sony Smartwatch 3 has 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. The built-in microphone in the smartwatch lets you give voice commands via Google Now about news, sports, weather, directions and so on. The smartwatch has sensors like Accelerometer, Compass, Gyro and GPS and can be used for collecting fitness data. Moto G First Generation users in India receiving Android 5.0 Soak test invites

Motorola began the Android 5.0 Lollipop soak test for second generation Moto X and Moto G last month. Now, the company is gearing up for the soak test of Moto G first generation.   Motorola is now sending out invites to select Motorola Feedback network members who own Moto G (Gen 1) to participate in the new software preview test in India.  The soak tests allow Motorola to see how the new software behaves on a larger number of devices before its actual release.  With the help of soak tests, Motorola will gather feedback from users in case of bugs and once the software is ready, it will roll out to general public. The soak test is scheduled to go live in the next few days but there is no word on exact date for the update. Sony Xperia Z Ultra GPE receives Android 5.0 Lollipop update

Sony is rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition (GPE) devices. This makes the Xperia Z Ultra GPe one of the first Google Play edition devices to officially receive Lollipop. The update with build number LRX21P.S3.4201 weighs in at 397.3MB and requires 500MB of free space on the Ultra before it can be installed. Gmail web users can now easily open and edit Microsoft Office attachments. The company is adding adding conversion support in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides for 15 new Office file formats. Prior to the update, Google had made this feature for Drive, but the recent update makes the process much easier for Gmail. The files support list includes less common formats spread across Docs, Sheets, and Slides. New formats supported include: dot, dotx, dotm*, docm* conversions to Google Docs xlt, xltx, xltm*, xlsm* conversions to Google Sheets pot, potx, potm*, pptm*, pps, ppsx, ppsm* conversions to Google Slides Now, you can start editing Office files right from Gmail  as you will see a new edit icon on the attachments. As soon as you click it will automatically convert the file into the appropriate Drive app for you to begin editing immediately. The update also brings improved support for charts, images and tables. Samsung introduced the Samsung Gear Circle, a Bluetooth Stereo headset along with the Samsung Gear S smartwatch back in August. It was launched in India along with the Gear S back in October at Rs. 8,500. Now the headset is available for purchase from the official Samsung India eStore for Rs. 5,599. The Gear Circle lets you receive calls, listen to music, and send voice commands. It has magnetic lock which clasps around your neck when not in use and can also vibrate to notify you for incoming calls and notifications. It has Bluetooth 3.0 with apt-X, Magnetic Sensor (Hall IC) and Touch Sensor. It has Multi Point connection to connect two devices at a time and lets you connect to 8 different Bluetooth devices. Google releases Android 5.0.1 factory images, pushes AOSP builds

Almost three weeks after releasing the OTA updates and pushing Android 5.0 (Lollipop) factory images, Google has released factory images for Android 5.0.1 for the Nexus 9, Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 (2013) and also pushed the same to AOSP. There is no official changelog for this minor update, but according to a commenter over at the Android Police, this update is to fix a bug that could cause stray input on the lock screen to erase everything on the device. Google usually releases bug fix updates for the Nexus devices upon hearing the comments from the users. Few weeks after releasing the Android 4.4.3, Google released Android 4.4.4 update to fix security issues. Google Nexus devices starting from the Nexus 4 are likely to get the Android 5.0.1 over-the-air (OTA) update soon. You can download factory images for the Nexus 9, Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 (2013) Wi-Fi from the Google Developers website here. Google is expected to release factory images of Android 5.0.1 for other devices soon.

Samsung Galaxy A7 is inching closer to its launch. The third device from Samsung's metal A series is mere 6.6mm thick making it the thinnest smartphone made by the company yet. The Galaxy A7 has appeared in China's TENAA under the model number SM-A7009 and was first spotted by PhoneArena. The phone is slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, which comes in at 6.7mm and also than the iPhone 6 that measures 6.9mm. According to the TENAA listing, the Galaxy A7 sports a 5.5-inch full-HD display and will be powered by 1.5 GHz eight-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC. Google has released a Device Assist app that offer tech support for Android One, Nexus and Google Play Edition devices. The app as the name suggests assists users in troubleshooting problems, tips and more for the aforementioned devices. The Device Assist app aims to help users understand how to use their Android device and offers help with issues related to features like GPS, connectivity and battery and give tips on how to use new features and improve the device’s performance. It will proactively help with issues like GPS, connectivity settings, battery options and so on. Yesterday Sony rolled out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Xperia Z Ultra GPE and today Samsung Galaxy S 5 (SM-G900F) is receiving the Lollipop update, according to a report from SamMobile. The report stated that the OTA to version G900FXXU1BNL2 has begun to hit the SM-G900F model in Poland and may hit other European countries soon. Galaxy S5 got the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update in June and as per previous SamMobile report, the smartphone was expected to receive the Lollipop update this month. Samsung has continued with the TouchWiz interface but has also added some Material Design features to the Galaxy S5. The phone will lock screen notifications, heads-up alerts, multi-user support for phones, Smart Lock, MirrorLink and so on. Moto E second generation specs surfaces

Motorola unveiled the second generation Moto X and Moto G earlier this year. Now a fresh rumor from a Greek website is stating that the new Moto E is also in the making. As per the website, the new Moto E will sport a 4.5-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) display, and is said to be powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, which is the same as last year’s Moto G.  Additionally, it may have a LTE enabled chip which could either be the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 or even the newer Snapdragon 410. The phone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. Intel teams up with Luxottica for smart eyewear

Intel has collaborated with luxury eyewear brand Luxottica to produce smart eyewear. The duo will incorporate smart technology into premium, luxury, and sports eyewear. Luxottica Group is maker of most of the world’s most recognized eyesore, including Oakley, Persol, Armani, Coach and more. The company said that frames developed with Intel would serve very specific purposes and would not compete with its existing deal to manufacture and distribute Google Glass. The growth of wearable technology is creating a new playing field for innovation. Through our collaboration with Luxottica Group, we will unite our respective ecosystems and bring together Intel's leading-edge silicon and software technology with Luxottica's design innovation and consumer expertise.
