Apple UK market share hits record high
Shortly after the global launch of the iPhone 6, Apple called its latest smartphone the greatest yet and according to recent figures, this has translated into sales and a noticeable improvement in Apple's UK market share. Kantar Worldpanel Comtech report that strong sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus resulted in Apple's market share reaching 42.5 percent in November.
In the UK, the sales of both new iPhones saw the Cupertino company's market share rise to a record 42.5 percent in November which is up from 30.3 percent a year earlier and up from 39.5 percent in Q3. The folks at Kantar accredited this to the sales of the iPhones and whilst the rise is great news for Apple, it spells bad news for Google.
Apple's rise meant that Android market share dropped by 6.7 percent year on year to 49.7 percent in November. Kantar note that this was largely driven by the rapid and unexpected decline in Samsung smartphone sales although it was arrested somewhat by sales from other OEMs such as HTC, LG and Motorola.
Carolina Milanesi, Chief of Research at Kantar, said:
"The iPhone 6 was the best selling phone in the three months through November 2014, capturing 19 percent ...

Monster sues Apple’s Beats over stealing headphone technology
Apple's Beats has been sued by audio-equipment maker Monster over stealing headphone technology. The company says that it had played an important role in design and engineering the popular headphones.
Monster has filed a lawsuit against Apple's Beats Electronics, claiming that the high-end-headphone maker's co-founders allegedly conspired to sever the headphone line from Monster before Apple bought the company last year for $3.2 billion. The law alleges Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and rapper Dr Dre pirated the "Beats By Dr Dre" headphone line from Monster and its CEO Noel Lee. The company alleges in the suit that Beats hid the co-created work Monster and Lee put in to the design, manufacture and distribution of the original Beats headphones, then sold 51 percent of the company to HTC for $300 million. Soon after the HTC deal, Iovine and Dre reacquired 25.5 percent of Beats, by using a "change of control" clause in the contract that effectively severed ties with Monster. Monster also claims that the company has lost millions owing to the "fraudulent activities" and "sham transactions".
This is the second lawsuit on Beats as the first one was brought by the Bose Corporation over patented technology for canceling noise in earphones ...

The report further says that Spartan browser will have a "reading mode" button that "strips out the text of an article and makes it easier to read the content on a page."
Share and Folder icon are situated next to the reading icon that makes it easy to share content on the internet. At the right side we can see three small dots that are for settings. The Spartan browser has a borderless window that allows the content to spread from edge to edge. Touted as lightweight, the browser will use Microsoft’s Chakra JavaScript engine and Trident rendering engine instead of WebKit. The report states that the new Spartan browser will be bundled with the desktop and mobile versions of the forthcoming Windows 10 OS.

Samsung to launch round smartwatch at MWC?
Samsung looks set to follow rivals LG, Motorola and Acer by announcing a round smartwatch at Mobile World Congress in March. The annual conference is likely to see the introduction of a plethora of new mobile devices, tablets and wearables and Samsung's first round wearable would run on its Tizen OS (and not Android Wear like its rivals).
Although Samsung has already introduced an Android Wear device - namely the Samsung Gear Live - its next smartwatch is still set to run on the Tizen platform which also powers the Gear 2 Neo, Gear Fit and Gear S wearables. The rumour comes from SamMobile who say the new smartwatch has model number SM-R720 with codename Orbis (which would actually be a rather good launch name for the device no?)
The site also notes that Samsung has been granted a series of wearable-related patents recently and one of these is for a ring-operated design which could be set to launch on the Orbis. The smartwatch, which is very much in rumoured status, is likely to be completely different from any Gear smartwatch yet and with most manufacturers launching wearables - including Apple with the Apple Watch around the same time as MWC - Samsung will need ...

The message, as detailed by Apple Insider, reads:
Within the next 36 hours, prices on the App Store will increase for all territories in the European Union as well as in Canada and Norway, decrease in Iceland, and change in Russia.
