Sony has announced its new Digital TV (DTV) Tuner Module (SMT-EW100) for mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, automotive infotainment systems, navigation systems and PCs. It boasts the world's smallest size and superior reception as well as extremely low power consumption, making it an optimal candidate for inclusion into mobile devices, says the company.
This is the first module from Sony specialized for mobile usage, and supports various types of digital terrestrial TV broadcast systems, including DVB-T and DVB-T2 for ASEAN, Middle East, Europe, Africa, DVB-T2 Lite, ISDB-T for South America and ISDB-Tmm for Japan. Sony India will offer tuner module, the antenna, software and technical support as well for the tuner enabling mobile device manufacturers easily incorporate a DTV feature into their products.

LG unveiled the G Flex 2 smartphone, the second phone in the G Flex series at the CES earlier this month. It went on pre-order in Germany last week, today LG has announced that the G Flex 2 would launch in Korea on January 30th. The G Flex 2 has a 5.5-inch 1080p curved P-OLED display that can bend ranging from a radius of 400mm to 700mm across the front, back, sides and top-to-bottom edges.
It has Spin Hairline Pattern on the curved back that can heal automatically from nicks and scratches. It even has laser auto focus that was first introduced in the LG G3 smartphone for fast auto focus, even in low light conditions.

Acer has launched two new Chromebooks that are designed specially for students. The 15-inch (C910) and 11.6-inch (C740) Chromebooks are the latest ones from Acer that will withstand daily damage.
Acer says that both Chromebooks have "reinforced covers" that are able to withstand 60kg of force as well as "reinforced" hinges that are capable of standing up to unusual twisting and stress. The corners are also said to be able to withstand nearly 1.5-foot drops without taking damage. The C910 and C740 come with internal safeguards, as well, with the option to create multiple accounts, so students can individually save documents, photos, and other files.
The 15.6-inch Acer Chromebook C910 is ideal for labs and classrooms where students can share a screen whereas the Acer C740 is for individual use and fits compactly into a backpack. Micromax’s YU has announced that it sold 15,000 units of Yureka smartphones in just 4 seconds in its second flash sale on Amazon.in. In the first sale 10,000 units sold out in 3 seconds. The website did not crash after the sale opened, like the first sale. Some managed to order the smartphone, but most users couldn't get the smartphone and were added to the waitlist, which didn't open up.
Even though the company did not announce the number of people registered for this sale, it looks like lakhs tried to buy the smartphone today. YU confirmed that the next flash sale will happen on January 29th, Thursday at 2PM. Registrations for the next sale will start 5PM today on Amazon.in. It might increase the number of units for the next sale, but we are yet to hear the number officially. YU offered a free leather back cover with the orders for the first sale, which is limited only for the first sale.

HTC is all set to launch Desire 626, a new smartphone in the Desire 600 series. Press images and complete specifications of the smartphone have been leaked by @upleaks. According to the leak, the smartphone would come with a 5-inch HD display and would run on Android 4.4 Kitkat with HTC Sense UI on top. It would get Android 5.0 update later, says the leakster. It would come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
It is expected in two variant, just like the Desire 620 and Desire 620G. The differences are the processor, RAM and connectivity. The 3G variant would be powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor with 1GB RAM, while the 4G variant would have a 1.7 GHz Octa-Core 64-bit MediaTek MT6752 processor (It is mentioned as MT6572 in the leak, which is actually a dual-core processor) with 2GB RAM.
Both the variants would come with 16GB of internal storage with expansion slot and a 2000 mAh removable battery. According to the image it has dual-front-facing speakers and dual SIM support. Hope we have expect the official announcement soon.

The Lenovo S580 sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display. It has a bright display even on minimum brightness and it will be a boon during watching videos and playing games. It even comes with good viewing angles. However, the screen is easily reflected in sunlight that reduces visibility. The phone is sleek, light weight and fits easily in one hand. More images of the upcoming HTC One M9 has been leaked. This time the phone images are less blurry and shows that the power button has been moved from the top of the device to a more accessible location on the right side near volume rockers.
The images also shows the back of the phone that was seen in another leak couple of days back. Even this image shows the rear camera that has a square module than a round one which is seen for the dual camera. The One M9 does resemble the design of the One M8. The sources from the recent leak also reveal the specs of the phone like a 5-inch 1080p display, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, an UltraPixel front-facing camera, Snapdragon’s next-generation 810 processor (with 8 cores), 3 GB of RAM, and a 2,840 mAh battery.

Microsoft has introduced the next version of Office that is dubbed as Office 2016. The next version of its fully-featured Office suite of desktop PC applications will be released later this year.
"We will have more to share on Office 2016 in the coming months, but this suite will remain the comprehensive Office experience you’re long familiar with, best suited for a PC with keyboard and mouse,"
wrote Julia White, general manager for Microsoft's Office Product Management team, in a blog post.
Microsoft announced the Office 2016 following its Windows 10 event yesterday. The desktop version is going to be fully featured and most likely include additional Office apps as part of that suite, and work on the desktop in Windows 10. Microsoft says the new Office touch apps will eventually be "pre-installed for free on phones and small tablets running Windows 10, and available to download from the Windows Store for other devices." A brand new Outlook mail app will also span across Windows 10 on desktops, tablets, and even phones.

OnePlus has launched its OnePlus One smartphone in Indonesia. It has partnered with Lazada to sell the smartphone in the country. This is the first market that OnePlus has entered in Southeast Asia, said the company. It was launched in India last month, and is still in huge demand.

Samsung has been working on a new wearable health sensor for the past two years. The engineers at Samsung’s C-Labs have announced that they are working on a wearable that has the ability to detect strokes in the wearer.
The sensor called as Early Detection Sensor and Algorithm Package (EDSAP), monitors brain waves and give the wearer information to track potential strokes. The device is a headset that the user wears, as you can see in the image above, and through the monitoring of brainwaves combined with an algorithm, it will be able to detect whether the user is at risk at stroking and whether they should consult a doctor or receive immediate help.
“We approached neurologists, asking them whether this was feasible. They were dismissive, but we wanted to give it a go. Health-related wearable devices are becoming more and more complex, meaning their capabilities are growing increasingly sophisticated. The five of us wanted to make our mark in this development.”

Samsung is expected to launch a round smartwatch at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC). Now, a report from SamMobile is giving more details about various features of the smartwatch.
Samsung' smartwatch is named as Project Orbis and is expected to come with rotary ring dial at its front, which will allow its users to access it. The latest report says that the Orbis smartwatch will not have the calling capabilities like the Gear smartwatches. Instead, the Tizen powered smartwatch will only be able to dismiss or accept incoming calls from the smartwatch.
Moving, on the report states that the rotating ring will provide users with an easy way to show apps on a home screen either one at a time, or three depending on quickly you rotate—in addition to other swiping gestures. The side-positioned crown of the watch will function as a "back" and a hang-up button. Swiping from the top to the bottom to access settings and toggles like the Bluetooth, battery life and brightness controls. Apple CEO Tim Cook received a hefty bonus of $9.2 million in the fiscal year 2014. As per the company filing, Cook took 1.75 million in salary and 6.7 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation.
The bonus received by Cook is more than double compared to the pay in 2013. Cook was granted a pay package valued at $4.25 million in 2013. Eddy Cue, Apple's Senior Vice President of Internet software and services, received nearly $25 million in total compensation. Meanwhile recently hired retial chief Angela Ahrendts received $73.4 million in total compensation, both of which were mostly through stock grants.
Luca Maestri was promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer following Peter Oppenheimer’s retirement. Oppenheimer made $4.5 million total, including stocks, as he exited the company and Maestri made $14 million including stock awards. In 2014 net sales rose 7 percent, or $11.9 billion, to $182.8 billion and the operating income also rose 7 percent, or $3.5 billion, to $52.5 billion, compared to 2013.

Details about battery life of the Apple Watch has been revealed in a new report from 9to5Mac. The report states that the upcoming Apple Watch may last for about 2.5 hours of heavy use and 3.5 hours of standard app use.
The Apple Watch will provide 19 hours of mixed active and passive use, 3 days of standby on low power use, or 4 days in sleep mode. The report adds that the Watch runs on S1 chip that offers similar performance as Apple's A5 chip that is present in iPod touch and iPhone 4s. It will also run a stripped down version of iOS dubbed as "SkillHill". Apple is apparently thinking that fitness-tracking features might result into a better battery life and the company supposedly targets almost 4 straight hours of exercise tracking.
Moving further, the report touts that Apple is concerned about the battery life of the Watch and it may fall short of expectations. The reason for easy battery consumption is its powerful processor and display. The 3.5-inch (720 x 720 pixels) TFT LCD square display at 294 PPI pixel density is the largest ever on a BlackBerry QWERTY smartphone, slightly larger than the 3.1-inch screen on the BlackBerry Q10. The display is bright with vibrant colors and good sunlight legibility, but the viewing angles were better in the AMOLED display on the Q10. Microsoft has announced its second quarter earnings for fiscal year 2015. The software giants' Surface and Lumia divisions has helped in increasing revenue and handset sale.
Microsoft reported a revenue of $26.5 billion and $7.8 billion of operating income. Devices and Consumer division of the company reported revenue of $12.9 billion, up 8 percent on a year-over-year basis. Microsoft’s Surface revenue was up 24 percent to $1.1 billion from $908 million in last quarter. Surface Pro 3 was responsible for the growth as its sales increased during the holiday season.
“Microsoft is continuing to transform, executing against our strategic priorities and extending our cloud leadership. We are taking bold steps forward across our business, and specifically with Windows 10, to deliver new experiences, new categories, and new opportunities to our customers.”
said Satya Nadella, chief executive officer of Microsoft.
