Samsung has filed for trademarks for four new devices. The news comes from the company after it had announced to reduce the handset portfolio by 30 percent this year. Samsung might give the J series a similar line up as the A series with Galaxy A3, A5 and A7. The company has already launched Galaxy E5 and E7 in India earlier this month. Hence, it looks like the Galaxy E3 will be the third phone in the E series. In case of the J series, we have already seen leaked images and specs of the Galaxy J1 and it seems like it will now expand with the Galaxy J3, J5 and J7. The Galaxy J range is tipped to focus on the low end of the smartphone scale. It must be noted that Samsung has only trademarked these names and it does not necessarily mean that all of them will see the day of light. But, going by the trend of the company regarding naming the devices, the possibility cannot be overthrown. via

Apple has released an iOS 8 update that bumps to version 8.1.3. The update includes "bug fixes, increased stability and performance improvements." One of the important feature of the update is that it reduces the amount of storage that is required to perform a software update. This will be a welcome move as users without less free space on their device had difficulty updating because of the size of the software download. The update also fixes a problem with the Apple ID password for Message and FaceTime, as some users had trouble entering their passwords. iOS 8.0 update was a 1.1GB download  which required over 5GB to install. This forced users to either delete apps, media or other data to make room, or connect their cables to perform a “tethered” iTunes sync. In comparison the latest update is only 247MB which will be a relief for users. The update can be downloaded by going to Settings > General > Software Update. You can also download and install the update through iTunes by plugging in your iPhone to your Mac or PC. Apple launched iOS 8 in September when the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus was announced. There were a few bugs when iOS 8 launched so Apple quickly ...

The burgeoning giant in the smartphone space, Xiaomi, today finally launched its flagship handset in India. Dubbed the Mi4, it is the successor to the very popular and usually sold out Mi3 handset that was launched in India earlier last year. It's been a long while coming and today we finally got a chance to touch and feel the handset in our own grubby paws. Does the phone stand out amongst its competitors? Can it make as big a dent as the original Mi3 did? We'll test that out in our review but for now here are our first impressions.  The phone has a dramatically different facade when compared to the original handset. Gone is the relatively bulky build with large bezels and aluminum construction. Instead you get a glass and stainless steel shell. The front has a 5inch 1080p display manufactured by JDI with Sharp as a backup supplier. The screen pixel density is 441ppi and Xiaomi claims that the panel covers 95% of the NTSC gamut. In our brief time with the phone, we certainly weren't able to test that claim however the screen is quite a beauty. Outdoor visibility was perfectly good with nice and punchy colors throughout.
