Big screens aren't for all customers and manufacturers are keen to address the need for different screen sizes. The latest trend is 'Mini' which brings the features of the HTC One to a smaller size. Announced last month the HTC One Mini brings the Ultrapixel camera, BoomSound speakers and Beats Audio to a smaller screen and thinner build. The HTC One Mini has just gone on sale in the UK and we're bringing you a retail unboxing of the small-but-powerful One Mini. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKqrHz_mxBE The HTC One Mini follows the same design as the HTC One, with the screen flanked by the dual frontal stereo BoomSound speakers that come with a dedicated amplifier. Above the screen of the HTC One Mini is the 1.2MP front facing camera, an array of sensors and the earpiece speaker. Just like the One, the HTC One Mini is made from a single piece of aluminium and features a unibody design with an 1,800 mAh embedded battery and micro-SIM card slot. Despite less than positive feedback about the design, HTC chose to keep the two-button arrangement from the HTC One. However, as ...

Nokia CR-200 Wireless Car Charger Review

Given the larger screen sizes and increasing processing power in smartphones, they're fast replacing dedicated GPS units and even in-car entertainment systems. While phones have become more powerful, battery technology hasn't really caught up. The Nokia CR200 tries to solve multiple probles in one go by  acting as a sturdy car charger, providing built in wireless charging capabilities. Let's take a closer look at the car holder. The car holder is built in two segments. A very sturdy base that locks on to the surface by creating a vacuum between the surface and the base. A swivel clasp near the base lets you easily install or remove the holder. In our testing, the seal was incredibly solid and the holder remained stuck, no matter how bad the condition of the roads was. The base connects to the actual holder by means of a ball and socket joint that allows for a lot of flexibility in setting up the holder exactly the way you want it. The holder integrates wireless charging and NFC. The charger connects from the lighter port in your car to the charging base via a 2.5mm pin cable. The box contents include a 1.5m extension cable. A green light glows ...

The Gionee GPad 2 falls into the mid-range phablet market in terms of pricing and features. Lets check out how it performs. Box Contents For a midrange device, the Gionee GPad 2 comes with a lot of stuff in the box. The various box contents include Phone Battery 16GB microSD card Flip cover with plastic back Two Scratch guards microUSB cable USB Charger 3.5mm Headphones SIM eject tool Documentation including service center list, manual and warranty card The Flip cover that is offered is of reasonably good quality. Usually, we find a single scratch guard with budget devices, but we were surprised to find two scratch guards that comes with the phone. The headphones that come with the phone are definitely not the best, but they get the job done. Design and Build Quality Unlike other budget phones, the Gionee GPad 2 feels quite solid in the hand despite an all plastic build. The phone is quite solid and seems a little heavy because of the metal rim running across ...

Sony Xperia Z Ultra Review

Every once in a while we come across a product that is a bit ahead of the curve or perhaps such a niche that it is hard to accept it in its current incarnation. The Xperia Z Ultra while not exactly revolutionary, does have the inklings of what might be come the future of smart computing. But is it good enough to convince us ? Read on to find out. Design Two words come to your mind when you view the Xperia Z Ultra. Gorgeous, Massive. The all glass smartphone – tablet hybrid is a play on the design first pioneered by Sony on the Xperia Z earlier this year. Sony has a heritage of making beautiful products and the craftsmanship on the Xperia Z Ultra is a testament to that design culture. The front of the device is comprised of what is perhaps the largest smartphone display we’ve come across yet. Indeed the handset that clocks in at 179.4 x 92.2 x 6.5mm stretches the limits of smartphone dimensions. The glass and metal build of the handset also take a toll on the weight of the device that comes in at well above 200 grams. Up top next to the Sony logo lies ...
