Like any other Apple event, the event started off with numbers from the past discussing the sales and success that the previous generation iPhones have had. This time, Tim Cook had an interesting fact and said that, by the end of October, nearly 700 million iOS devices would have been sold. At June, during the WWDC, Apple had announced that it has sold close to 600 million iOS devices till then. iOS devices include - iPhones, iPod Touches, iPads and iPad Mini. During the event, Cook also claimed that the focus of the company was turning back home and he particularly highlighted a store in Stanford, California. The iPhone 5S is a minor update and it comes nearly a year after the iPhone 5 was launched. Along with the premium iPhone 5S, Apple has launched a subsidiary iPhone 5C for the first time to capitalize on the mid-range market. The two iPhone strategy is new for Apple and we will have to wait to see how it works out for the Cupertino giant. For the first time, China is among the countries where the iPhone will be launched first and this is a result of China's huge smartphone market which will eventually ...

That's right. C definitely doesn't stand for cheap. The unsubsidized unlocked prices for the iPhone 5C have been revealed. The 16 GB version will be available for 549$ and the 32 GB version will be available for 649$. Let me do the direct conversion for you, the Indian National Rupee prices will likely be - Rs. 35,500/- for the 16 GB version and Rs. 42,000/- for the 32 GB version, rounding off to the nearest values without taxes and import duties. That seals the rumour that a low cost iPhone is on the way. It never was and is going to be the plan for Apple as they would never want to lose the insanely high ASPs that they are getting with the current iPhones. The iPhone 5C also directly replaces the iPhone 5, which means that Apple will cease sales of iPhone 5 everywhere and push the 5C and 5S instead. The iPhone 4S still remains though, by going free on contract in the US and unlocked prices now at $450(Rs. 29,000). The iPhone 5S on the other hand is priced at $649(Rs. 41,750) for the 16GB version, 749$(Rs. 48,200) for 32 GB and 849$(Rs. 54,616) for the 64 GB version. Quite ...

LG G2 Knock On Feature Demo

It seems that LG is taking a leaf out of Samsung's book with the new LG G2 smartphone coming with a range of new software-based features, each of which comes with its own name for clever marketing gimmicks. One of these features is Knock On, which is exclusive to the LG G2 and was on show at IFA 2013. Similar to the double-tap to wake feature on Nokia Lumia smartphones, such as the Nokia Lumia 1020, Knock On allows you to wake your device from sleep with a double tap on the screen. LG rely on sensors to register the motion and we found that Knock On is actually a quite handy feature to have, especially as the LG G2 has the power button on the back. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diRoAr56GH4 The one thing we would like to point out is that the feature works most of the time. We did have a couple of attempts where the LG G2 took longer than we would have liked to respond. Natural instinct is to double tap the screen again and once the LG G2 registered the motion, it then switched the screen back off again as if a secondary double-tap had switched it off. It's possible that the ...

LG announced their flagship G2 nearly a month back and it is being showcased in IFA 2013 in Berlin. LG G2 runs on Snapdragon 800 and has a 5.2inch Full HD Tru IPS display. Along with the many features that LG introduced in its G2, we brought you the live demo of Knock On feature, here is the OIS demo. The LG G2 is probably one of the first phones to have its power lock key on the back side and it can be a bit cumbersome to unlock the phone when it is lying down. Hence LG have introduced a feature known as "Knock On" that will enable the users to unlock the screen just double tapping on the display. LG G2 has a 13MP camera at the back that comes with Optical Image Stabilization(OIS). At IFA 2013, LG had a very interesting demo to show off the OIS capabilities of the LG G2. You can check out the video below to see how LG showed off the OIS feature of LG G2. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2jkPChemCE The OIS feature greatly reduces the shakes during capturing videos and it is clearly seen in the video when the LG G2, which has OIS, produces much more stabilized ...

The Sony Xperia Z1 is the latest smartphone flagship from the Japanese manufacturer. The phone packs top of the line specifications in a stunning packaging made of aluminum and glass. We got to spend some time with the phone and here's our brief impressions. Video Demo httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg51DR0cqC4 The front of the phone comprises of a large 5 inch Full HD display. This is of the triluminous variety and is a much needed improvement over the panel on the Xperia Z. Very similar to the excellent screen on the Xperia Z Ultra, it has great viewing angles and contrast. The colors appear bright and vivid. Above the display is the 2MP front facing camera. Powering the Xperia Z1 is a Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2 Ghz and it is paired with 2GB of RAM. It also has an Adreno 330 GPU. All this means that the phone is blazing fast. Running on Android 4.2.2 but with an Android 4.3 update expected at launch, the phone has the same custom Sony interface layer that we've seen on several other devices. Over at the back of the phone, the glass panel continues and looks absolutely gorgeous. However, it is also one of the most fingerprint prone surfaces ...

LG G2 Quick Window Case Hands on Demo

The launch of Samsung's Galaxy S4 smartphone earlier this year introduced yet another concept into the mobile space - smart covers that work in tandem with your smartphone to display information even when your screen is "off". The Galaxy S4 S View cover only displayed the time but with the Galaxy Note 3, Samsung have managed to evolve their take on the smart accessory. It's not just Samsung who are getting in on the act, with LG bringing out a range of similar accessories for their new LG G2 smartphone. With a 5.2 inch Full HD 1080p screen, the LG G2 offers ample real estate for LG to make use of a smart window style accessory and as you'll see in the video below, they've actually worked hard to make it a very useful feature. The LG G2 Quick Window accessory is an S-View style cover with a large window through which you can access a range of features, including the weather and time. As we've seen time and time again, the first iteration of any new accessory or feature usually comes bereft with bugs and sadly this is the case with the LG G2 Quick Window which failed to respond at times ...

At the Intel Developer Forum 2013, Intel announced a new series of SoCs called as "Quark" SoC. The main motive behind the "Quark" SoC is small size and power consumption. The small Quark SoCs are expected to be much much smaller than the current Intel Atom SoC and that would make them perfectly compatible for the wearable gadgets that are expected to drive the technology race in the coming years. Intel has already targeted the tablets and smartphone category with its Atom series of processors and the new smaller and low power Quark series is expected to take care of the small things ranging from smartwatches to other wearable technology keeping in mind the power efficiency. Intel have shown off some bracelet like devices, although they are just a proof of concept of the new processor. Recently, at the IFA, Qualcomm showed off their Toq smartwatch that was powered by Cortex M processors. Both Qualcomm and Intel believe that the next battle for the processors will be in wearable technology and hence are showing off their capable SoCs. The Quark SoCs will be based on x86 architecture just like the rest of Intel microprocessors. The first Quark SoC will be the 32nm ...
