Ever since CyanogenMod announced the formation of a new company called Cyanogen Inc, there's been a lot of drama involved within the team. Guillaume Lesniak, the person behind the rather awesome Focal camera app, has distanced himself from Cyanogen because of the changes in licensing. The app will now be available on the Google Play store and is initially in beta phase. Even for a beta, the app is fully featured and includes everything from burst shot, set timers, camera effects, light settings and even a range of scene modes. Interestingly, Focal also has a PhotoSphere replacement built in and is called PicSphere. We're quite impressed by the beta version and it'll only get better over time. If you've been wanting to check out what is arguably one of the best replacement camera apps out there right now, do check out Focal by heading to the Play Store link mentioned below. Spice is known for making quality hardware at affordable prices. With the Pinnacle FHD, the company is aiming for the upper reaches of the mid range device market. The specifications line up well enough for the handset but is it enough to earn our recommendation? Read on to find out. Design The phone has a design that stands out from that of the average budget priced smartphone. The entire device has a dual tone finish in black and white that looks surprisingly good. The quality of plastics used is top notch and the ergonomics are great. Above the display is the front facing 2MP camera unit. The display is a 5inch Full HD panel that occupies most of the front of the phone. Bezels on the sides are fairly slim but there's considerable usage of space above and below the screen. [gallery ids="84859,84862,84858"] There's a very cool looking chrome finish border that runs around the phone. The right side has the power button while the left side sports the volume rocker. Tactile feedback is generally satisfactory though the buttons don't feel very reassuring. A 3.5mm audio jack is placed at the top of the phone. Over at the back of the phone is an 8MP camera ...

Bought yourself a spanking new Galaxy Gear? Then you'll want to update to the latest edition of the Gear Manager application as it brings with it a very major improvement. You can now enable practically all notifications from your phone to be displayed on your wrist. This has been a major issue for early adopters and it is good to see that Samsung has fixed this with the update. The latest update to the Gear Manager app lets you select apps for which you want to push updates and can also include previews for email, Hangouts messages. While this goes a long way in improving the utility of Samsung's smart watch, we feel that there's a lot more that needs to be fixed before it goes mainstream. The single day battery life and high cost are both very real deterrents in adoption of the Galaxy Gear but fast updates by Samsung should definitely help. The Galaxy Gear smartwatch retails for Rs. 22,990 in India and is compatible with Samsung devices like the Note 3, Galaxy S4, S3, Note 2 as well as the S4 Active, Galaxy S4 mini, Mega 6.3, Mega 5.8, and S4 Zoom. Samsung revealed its roadmap for its future products at the Analyst Day 2013 earlier this year. The roamap revealed that Samsung would launch bendable and foldable displays in future after the launch of Galaxy Round with a curved display. Now Bloomberg reports that new Galaxy smartphone coming next year with a display that wraps around the edges.  The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) filing that Samsung filed earlier this week shows a device that wraps around frontward and provides extra display space on its sides. The patent image shows side displays with icons for music player, ebooks and more serving these functions and the front-most display used for primary activity. The phone will reportedly be using an upgraded version of Youm display technology from Samsung. This would let each side of the display operate independently. These details are yet to be confirmed by Samsung. The new display might be used on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S or Note series. We might also see this in a complete new series. Samsung Galaxy smartphone with three-sided wraparound display is expected to release second half of 2014.

Back of the HTC M8 appeared online last week, now @evleaks has hinted that the the HTC M8, reportedly the successor of the HTC One (M7) would pack a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) display, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 80 processor and run on the latest Android 4.4 (KitKat). It is not clear if this would feature a Ultrapixel camera or 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera similar to the HTC One. According to earlier to rumored the HTC M8 would also have a unibody construction, and the body would be wrapping around the sides too, unlike the HTC One. Earlier rumors also revealed that the phone would pack 3 GB of RAM, run on Sense 6 UI with new features that are available on the Sense 5.5 and even a fingerprint sensor since the leaked pictures revealed a finger print sensor, smaller than the one on the One Max. No word about the memory or the battery capacity yet. The HTC One took about three months to release after first leak back in December 2012. The HTC M8 is also expected to launch ahead of the MWC 2014 in February, one year after the HTC One.

The much awaited Google Nexus 5 is expected to launch in India as early as next week. LG Stores, LG Shoppes and retailer sources across various cities including Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai have confirmed to us that stocks will be arriving by Monday. Google has already listed the Nexus 5 on the Play Store at Rs. 28,999 for the 16GB version and Rs. 32,999 for the 32GB version, but LG would sell the phones in the market at Rs. 29,999 for the 16GB version and Rs. 33,999 for the 32GB version, which is Rs. 1000 higher than the Play Store pricing. The higher price tag might be the MRP of the device, and the MOP might be closer to the Google Play pricing. LG branded stores or LG Shoppes would stock the devices first and the device is expected to go on sale from other retailers 2-3 days after launch. The Play Store listing is expected to go live soon for people who might want to buy it online. The Google Nexus 5 manufactured by LG was announced back in October and it packs a 5 inch full HD IPS screen with LG’s own in-cell touch technology. The phone is powered by the blazing fast Snapdragon 800 processor and ...

Intex Aqua i7 Review

The mid range smartphone market in India is insanely competitive to say the least. We have been seeing tons of companies make affordable phones with some of the specifications that are usually only reserved for the top end phones. But due to the same cut throat competition, we have also been seeing many similar devices, with common attributes like the display and the chipset. In that sense, the current market trend is this - a 5 inch 1080p display and a MediaTek 6589T processor. The Gionee Elife E6, the Micromax Canvas Turbo and of course, the Intex Aqua i7 are all part of this trend, improving upon the 720p screen based phones earlier. But is it really worth the effort and upgrade? We find out in our review and are going to see if the Aqua i7 delivers the usual promise of "more for less". Box Contents Intex Aqua i7 In-ear earphones with mic Micro USB cable Travel Charger Flip Cover that replaces the back User guide and Warranty card The box contents are the usual except for the Flip Cover that we increasingly notice in big screen phone boxes these days. Here's our unboxing video of the same - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmJUUpl5sLM Hardware Walkthrough The design of the Intex Aqua i7 is ...

Does the Moto G lack the WiFi Hotspot feature ?

We were all excited about the Motorola Moto G which is a $179 unlocked Android device with some really impressive specs for a phone in that price band. It is even coming soon to India as early as Jan 2014. But today something caught our attention on twitter. While responding to a user's query , Motorola's official account did mention that that the Moto G does not have the WiFi hotspot feature ! Now this is interesting because the Moto G runs on pretty much stock Android with no custom skin . But Google did disable WiFi hotspot in the Nexus 7 3G 2012 edition so this is not something totally new.  This might be a move to prevent backlash from American carriers as they would require a tethering plan for the same. But the device itself costs only $179 without a contract so paying a premium for a tethering plan does not make any sense. Here is the conversation which took place on twitter between Motorola Mobility and user Logan who seemed to have a doubt about this feature. But before you vent your anger against the company , there might be some good news too. Thanks to our dear friend ...
