Phablets are a reality. Often passed over as a fad, the large number of successful giant sized devices has proven that there is a demand for these phones. With the One Max, HTC is going after the Samsung Note 3. The end result is an HTC One that has been stretched to fit in a larger display while introducing a few new forgetable features. Read through our review to figure out if this behemoth is worth the small fortune that HTC is demanding for it. Unboxing Here's a video unboxing of the phone to get you started. You can see the contents of the retail packaging of the HTC One Max. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAteHqHsrdg Hardware While the HTC One was a pioneering design, follow up handsets have been more or less iterations of the same base unibody aluminum shell. Look closely and you'll notice that the One Max is more HTC One Mini than the original One. There is liberal use of plastics with aluminum panels inlaid on the front and back. When Google introduced Google Now as their primary search option on Android smartphones, we knew they were headed for something big. Google Now has been trying to take over your Android smartphone as it tries to provide you all the "relevant" information that you may want. The latest power that Google Search has got is the ability to search through applications and show them in the results. The latest update(which should be rolling out gradually) makes it easy for the users to search for something inside their application directly from Google Search. For example, if you want to look up a movie in Imdb, all you have to do is Google search the movie and among the results, you will see an option showing the Imdb app and an option to open the application from there. This saves a lot of time, especially if you are in a hurry.  In addition to this, Google will also provide Android apps as a search result(but only when it is relevant). According to Google, they are currently working with only a few developers and within some time, we should see these features roll out to other apps. Imagine having the flexibility to search for a ...

TellTale games, the developers of the "Game of the Year 2012 - The Walking Dead", had released their next game based on the Fables short stories, "The Wolf Among Us", for console and PC earlier. It is now also available for the iPhone and iPad on the app store. This is keeping up with the tradition of releasing their game on the most popular mobile platform(for games), as they had done the same with The Walking Dead. With cell shaded graphics and an amazingly immersive story line that changes based on the decisions you make, The Wolf Among Us seeks to continue the awesome story telling that TellTale is known for. It has received rave reviews from critics all around, and in the mobile form, the point and click game should be as good as how the Walking dead game was, or at least we hope. Download The Wolf Among Us($4.99) from the app store Set in a Neon-filled fictional city, the game reminisces characters from the Aesop's Fables short stories, like the pigs, the wolf and more and intricately spins a detective story line around these characters. It definitely makes for a fun experience, and some times even nerve wracking, as ...

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update resumes Internationally

Samsung had big plans for its yesteryear flagships - Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 when it announced that both phones will be skipping Android 4.2.2 update and will be directly updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The big plan seemed to go well for the South Korean electronics giant as it released the Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S3 right on time, but only to be halted later because of performance issues. Samsung Galaxy S3 started receiving the Android 4.3 update during the first week of November in parts of Europe, but eventually during the middle of the month, Samsung pulled out the update citing performance issue reasons. Some of the issues that were faced by users included - Wake up lag, Random Freezing, Huge battery drain, Bluetooth Audio issues during playback in car, Stuttering music playback with stock Samsung music app, Device freezes as soon a call is received (Black screen issue), Poor RAM management, Wi-Fi issues and more. Owing to these setbacks, the company stopped the update and said that they are working on the issue. Finally, after a couple of weeks, Samsung seems to have squished the bugs in Android 4.3 firmware for Samsung Galaxy S3 as it has started seeding the update for ...

Nokia MixRadio – A new refreshed Nokia Music Service

Nokia is still one of the most loved brands in India, and Indians are quite music loving people. Nokia understood that massive business opportunity few years back and before the competition, launched Nokia OVI Music services globally and in India. Back then Nokia was the only mobile manufacturer invested heavily in Entertainment and Music services in India. Yes, world had Apple iTunes but in India Nokia Ovi Music was the only service with massive tie-ups with majority of Music Labels, Artists, Copyright Owners, etc. Nokia Dropped the OVI branding and their Music services renamed to Nokia Music. Nokia Music Service became stealthy killer weapon for company, thanks to the massive music content available for absolutely free to Nokia Music Unlimited Customers. Yes that too DRM free with option to download high quality 256Kbps MP3 tracks directly from Nokia Music website or Nokia Music Player. Except Apple's iTunes, there is not a single Music service available in India even today which provides more than 20 million tracks with huge regional content with tie-ups to almost every local and global Music Label. But here is the twist, iTunes does not give even a single track for free to Apple customers when they buy ...

After Asus Padfone Infinity that was launched at MWC 2013 earlier this year, Asus is back with the Padfone mini, a small version of the Padfone with a smaller docking station. Asus has sent out press invites to media outlets for the Padfone mini launch on December 11th in Taipei, Taiwan. The small docking station to dock the Padfone mini is expected to pack a 7-inch screen and is likely to come with a built-in battery, similar to the original Padfone station. The phone would have a 4.3-inch display. We still don't have the complete specifications of the device yet, so it is not clear if the Padfone mini would have an aluminium body like the Padfone infinity. According to the rumors, the Padfone mini would have a 4.3-inch (960 x 540 pixels) screen, powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor and run on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It is expected to come with 3G connectivity, and lack 4G LTE support. Asus did not launch the Padfone 2 or the Padfone Infinity in India. So it is not clear if the Padfone mini would come to India. Would you get one if it launches here?

Xolo A600 Unboxing Xolo launched the A600, its mid range entry in the A-series sometime back in November. It's a neat little device, powered by a MediaTek 6572W dual core processor and has modest specifications for its cheap price - Rs. 8,199. We have got it for unboxing today, and we kinda like how this device looks and feels. Yes, this is a cheap device, but that hasn't stopped other similarly priced devices like the Nokia Lumia 520 to stop short on build quality, and we think there is something very similar happening here, with the Xolo A600. Watch our unboxing video to get a look at it - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF5QoTZtSvg Here are the box contents - Xolo A600 Phone 3.5 mm in ear headset Travel Charger plug 1 Screenguard micro USB cable User guide and warranty information booklets   Lets talk about the device now. The smooth feel and the minimalistic design makes the device look great in the hands, as you can see from the picture above. The A600 has a 4.5 inch qHD display on the front, pretty similar to ...

Google Play Music All Access can now store music on SD cards

0
0
Avid users of Google's Play Music All Access service have long lamented the lack of ability to set a download location for offline music. With the latest update, Google's Spotify Competitor lets you store the tracks on the SD card instead of eating up valuable internal storage. Google Play Music All Access is a service by the search giant that lets subscribers stream music from a 16 million track library and also lets you keep tracks offline. If you just stream music or have a device that lacks a card slot then this won't affect you much. However, if your use case scenario is similar to ours where you end up saving playlists offline over WiFi to avoid going over your data limit then you'd know how quickly all those tracks can eat up space. Simply head to the settings option in the app and click storage location. A pop up will let you decide between internal storage or an SD card if you have it installed in your phone. In the brief amount of time we spent with the updated version of the application, we couldn't spot an option to move already existing tracks over to the SD card so ...

Airtel releases carrier update for iPhone 5s and 5c ahead of LTE roll out

0
0
Aitel already confirmed their plans to roll out 4G LTE service on smartphones for customers in Bangalore later this month. Some of our users have received a carrier settings update on the iPhone 5s and 5c that enables the 2300 MHz LTE (Band 40) on their smartphones. This was first spotted by BGR India.  Airtel's TD-LTE service works only on that particular band (40) which is rarely seen in smartphones that are currently sold in India. After the new carrier update you get "Enable LTE" option in the Cellular settings, instead of 3G. Even though Bangalore would be the first circle to get LTE support, all the iPhone 5s and 5c users on Airtel would receive this carrier update which reportedly fixes some network issues. Airtel uses Circuit Switched FallBack (CSFB) voice solution for the TD-LTE network that would let customers to make and receive voice calls and access voice mails while retaining the experience of ultra-fast data 4G services. Earlier this year Airtel had announced that they would offer voice services for 4G customers in Pune, but it did not happen. Airtel currently offers 4G LTE services in Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Punjab,
