Google Maps for iOS is getting a new update that brings features like restaurant wait times, improved transit directions and More. The updated app brings the version number to 4.47. The new restaurant wait times will be available at more than a million restaurants around the world.
It will let you know long you can expect to wait before being seated, and it also gets the ability to sort and search through reviews of a restaurant, store, or other business.
It also gets new transit directions feature that will let you know the transit entrance you need to go, which is available in New York, Hong Kong, Taipei, Paris, Los Angeles, Delhi, Moscow, Singapore, Madrid, Barcelona, Kiev, and Budapest.

Motorola has been expanding its retail footprint across India rapidly. Earlier this year it opened 50 new Moto Hubs in New Delhi, and recently in opened 25 stores in Kolkata and 50 stores in Mumbai. Today the company has announced the opening of 100 new Moto Hubs in Karnataka that includes 50 in Bengaluru, with a focus of strengthening retail store in the southern region.

The Moto Hub store will house the entire portfolio of Motorola devices, including the online exclusives such as Moto X4 and Moto MODs as well as accessories like on-ear and in-ear headphones, moto shells and covers.
Few months back Motorola announced a strategic partnership with Poorvika Mobiles across 43 cities in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Karnataka and with Big C and Lot Mobile stores across 55 cities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Qualcomm today at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), announced a new virtual reality development kit which consists of a wireless, standalone VR head-mounted display (HMD), and a new software development kit (SDK) based on the powerful Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 Mobile VR Platform. The company recently introduced the Snapdragon 845 VR reference design.
Qualcomm says that the new virtual reality development kit (VRDK) is designed with an aim to support the next generation of mobile virtual reality applications. Furthermore, Snapdragon 845 is capable of supporting immersive VR experiences. The development kit is designed as a stand-alone mobile VR platform which will be supported by Snapdragon profiler and power optimization tools to simplify development and provide VR application developers with access to new VR features.
New technologies like Room-scale 6DoF SLAM, Qualcomm Adreno Foveation, Eye Tracking, and Boundary System that are important for immersive VR experiences will be supported in the Snapdragon 845 Virtual Reality Development Kit.

According to a latest report citing industry sources, Google is said to be acquiring innovative camera startup Lytro for $40 million. Lytro as a company has started off as a ground-breaking camera company for consumers and move onto VR using its depth-data, light-field technology.
Neither Google nor Lytro commented on the matter, but sources who connected either to the deal or the companies confirm about the acquisition, according to the report. While one source said that the Lytro is going for no more than $40 million, while the other source claim that price was even lower than $25 million. There are also reports from sources that employees are not coming over with the company’s technology; some have already received severance and parted ways with the company, and others have simply left.
The acquisition might also include Lytro’s 59 patents related to light-field and other digital imaging technology. On the other hand, this isn't a big win for Lytro as well, as the company raised over $200 million in funding and was valued at around $360 million after its last round in 2017. Samsung today introduced Exynos 7 Series 9610 processor, successor of Exynos 7885 that powers the latest Galaxy A8 and A8+. It is based on the 10-nanometer (nm) FinFET process technology, and has eight-core CPU with four of Cortex-A73 CPU cores along with other four Cortex-A53 cores. It also supports slow motion video recording at 480 frames per second (fps), and has AI features such as vision image processing unit based on a deep-learning technology and image processing with a neural network engine for more intelligently enhanced face detection, as well as single camera out-focusing and augmented low-light images.
It also has advanced face detection feature that enables the camera to recognize faces that are either not facing forward or partially covered with objects like hair or a hat. Dolby Laboratories today announced a strategic intellectual property partnership with OPPO. The partnership will result in OPPO collaborating with Dolby on High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding (HE-AAC), JPEG-HDR and other audio and video technologies.
High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding (HE-AAC) is an international standard for audio encoding by Dolby Laboratories that is currently being used by hundreds of companies around the world. JPEG-HDR is part of the static image encoding standard whilst also storing data in a highly dynamic range of more than 8 bits so users can sample the entire range during post-processing.
OPPO also said that 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of the OPPO smartphones. The company at the start of 2018 has officially entered the Japanese market and has mentioned that it is working on entering into Europe market very soon. Dolby Labs said its agreement to share its IP-based audio-visual technology with OPPO.

Xiaomi has announced that it has opened its first Mi Home Store in Punjab. This is the 30th Mi Home Store in India after Mi Home stores in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Madhya Pradesh, Coimbatore and Gujarat.

In-display fingerprint technology though took sometime are finally making their way. Vivo was the first one to introduce and it looks like Samsung might be finally bringing their flagship Galaxy Note9 with an in-display fingerprint sensor and there are reports that say Samsung will take a call on the same by the end of this month.
Though there were conflicting reports about the company bringing an in-display fingerprint sensor, the latest report from the Korea Herald claims that Samsung is going to make a final decision on the in-display fingerprint sensor for the Galaxy Note9 soon. Furthermore, Samsung Display, the division which supplies panels for Samsung devices has said to have prepared three or four solutions to integrate a fingerprint sensor into the display.

With Google Assistant you can now send peer-to-peer payments or request payments from your contacts easily. Starting today, users in the U.S. will be able just to say commands like "send money to" both on Android or iPhone and Assistant will take you through the steps to send the money via Google Pay.
If you haven't setup the Google Pay account yet, Google will take you through the process as soon as you ask the Assistant to send money to your contacts. The payments are made instantly even if the recipient doesn’t have a Google Pay account. Your friends and family will receive an email, text message, or notification if they already have the Google Pay app installed so that they can cash out.
Earlier this year, Google finally rebranded Android Pay/Google Wallet to Google Pay. If at all you have used the payments options in Gmail, you most definitely already have a Google Pay account and don't need to setup again. Transactions with Assistant will require authentication with either your fingerprint or your Google password. Google also mentioned that the ability to send money on voice-activated speakers like Google Home in the coming months.
