SHARP has announced AQUOS R2, the company's latest flagship smartphone and the successor of last year's  AQUOS R smartphone in Japan. It has a 6-inch WQHD+ IGZO LCD display with 19:9 aspect ratio 100 Hz refresh rate and support for Dolby Vision. It is powered by Snapdragon 845 with 4GB RAM and runs Android 8.0 (Oreo). It has a 22.6-megapixel primary camera along with a 16.3-megapixel secondary rear camera with 135-degree ultra wide-angle lens to shoot videos in 4K 2K (3840 × 2,160 pixels) resolution. The AI live shutter support will take pictures automatically during movie shooting. It addition to Dolby Vision, it also has Dolby Atmos and also supports Dolby AC-4 for an immersive audio experience, making it the world's first smartphone to support both these Dolby features. Google debuted ARCore 1.0 at the MWC event back in February, and at the I/O event, it announced major updates to the platform. Chrome OS to get support to run Linux applications

Google announced that it is bringing the ability for Chromebooks running Chrome OS to run Linux applications. It is bringing the ability to code on Chromebooks, be it for building apps or writing a quick script.  While Chromebooks already have access to apps from the Google Play store, Google is aiming to expand it by bringing access to the tools that create it. With support for Linux, developers will have the ability to create, test and run Android and web app for phones, tablets and laptops all on one Chromebook. You can run code in your favorite coding language, launch projects to Google Cloud with the command-line. Linux will run inside a virtual machine that was designed from scratch for Chromebooks. Linux apps can start with a click of an icon, windows can be moved around, and files can be opened directly from apps. The preview of these new tools will be released on Google Pixelbook soon. Gmail for iOS now lets you send and receive money, snooze e-mails

Google is rolling out a new update to Gmail for iOS using which you can send and receive money, and snooze emails. Using Google Pay with Gmail, you can now send or receive money. This was rolled out for Android last year.  Gmail will send the payments as attachments, and the recipient only needs an email address to receive their money. To send money, open Gmail app on your iOS device and in the bottom right corner of the screen, tap compose and hit attach to enter to enter the amount you want to send and choose a payment method. You can also add a memo which is optional and once you are finished, tap done to send the email. Using the same process, you can also request money from your contacts. To receive money, on your iOS device open the Gmail app and open the message with attached money and tap transfer to the bank. From here you can now add a debit card and enter the required details to claim the cash As for snooze emails, you can hit a snooze button to deal with the Emails later. Few hours back Google released Android P Beta for several smartphones, including Nokia 7 Plus Android One smartphone, making it one of the first smartphones in the world to officially support Android P. Unlike Pixel phones that get Android P beta via over-the-air (OTP), you have manually flash the build. Here is a quick procedure on how to do it. Android Oreo adoption hits 5.7%, Nougat is now on 31.1% devices

Google is out with Android distribution numbers for the month of May and according to the number, Oreo adoption rate now at a decent 5.7% which also includes the Android 8.1 as well. Google announced Android P beta a few hours ago at the I/O 2018 event, which is available in beta for selected devices. Oreo adoption  slowly, yet steadily is increasing which is a good sign for Google. it has seen a solid 1.1% increase in just one month. Android Nougat; both Android 7.0 and Android 7.1 Nougat is now on 31.1% devices; with a jump from 30.8% from April which is again a steady growth. Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now at 25.5%, declining from 26%. The Lollipop operating system adoption now stands at 22.4% down from 22.9%. KitKat OS now stands at 10.3% down from 10.5%. Jellybean is currently at 4.3% down from 4.5%. Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich are at 0.3% and 0.4%, respectively with no change. During Google I/O 2018 event, Google released Wear OS developer preview 2 which is a continuation of the DP 1 which it released back in March. Google announced the Android P Beta, a major OS update at the I/O 2018 event earlier this week and for the first time the public beta is available to non-Pixel devices as well including the Sony Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21, OnePlus 6 and Essential PH‑1.  The main force behind this move is Project Treble. Qualcomm already announced that it has teamed up with Google with an aim to support fast commercial availability of Android. Android P Beta provides an opportunity for developers and early adopters around the world to try the latest Android release, test their apps, and provide feedback back to Google. This was a combined effort of  Google, silicon manufacturers (SM), device manufacturers (OEMs), and carriers. Google says that this process is technically challenging and requires aligning the schedules between the industry partners. Motorola patent hints at foldable smartphone that unfolds into a tablet

Huawei, Samsung , and now Motorola have joined foldable smartphone race according to the new patent filed and approved by the World Intellectual Property Organization on March 13, 2018, although it was filed back in September 2016. The patents hint at a foldable smartphone that unfolds into a tablet. Although the concept of it seems pretty close to ZTE's Axon M, the hinge design is the not the most elegant designs. Moving along, the main camera is positioned at the left top, and the loudspeaker is present at the right top.  It also offers space for another camera right next to the loudspeaker which is where you have the selfie shooter. Interestingly, the design of it allows you to use both the cameras at the same time and record stereo images, creating a 3D visual effect. When folded, it behaves and looks like a regular smartphone and when unfolding the user has two complete phone screens resulting in a tablet format.  The battery is located in the right housing. Google Drive gets refreshed material design

Last month Google rolled out revamped Gmail with refreshing new design and interface and now the company has announced an update to Google Drive on the web. This includes a range of visual tweaks to align with Google’s latest material design principles. The company is touting the new interface as responsive and offer an efficient experience for Drive users. Other notable changes include the logo in the top left has been changed to the Google Drive logo and all the custom company logos are now moved to the top right. The settings icon has now been moved in line with the search bar and the Help Center icon has been moved in line with the search bar. The page background is now white, not gray and the header font has also been changed. The new interface does not change any functionality and will work exactly how it did before. The redesigned GDrive will be available for everyone in the next two weeks. Source
