The European Commission has fined Google €4.34 billion ($5.04 billion) for breaching EU antitrust rules. It claims that since 2011, Google has imposed illegal restrictions on Android device manufacturers and mobile networks to cement its dominant position in general internet search.
The commission says that Google needs to put an end to the conduct within the next 90 days or face penalty payments of up to 5% of the average daily worldwide turnover of Alphabet. It says that Google imposed conditions that manufacturers have to pre-install the Google Search app and browser app (Chrome) as a condition for licensing Google's PlayStore. Google said to have made payments to certain manufacturers and mobile network operators on condition that they exclusively use the Google Search app on their devices.
Google said to have prevented manufacturers wishing to pre-install Google apps from selling smartphones other than Android. EU says that Google gets the vast majority of its revenues via its flagship product, the Google search engine. Anticipating the change from desktop PCs to mobile internet, Google developed a strategy to make sure that users would continue to use Google Search also on their mobile devices.
The Commission decision concerns three specific types of contractual restrictions that Google has imposed ...
Samsung apart from working on Tab S4 is also busy prepping the Tab A 8.0 (2018) and from the rendered image, you can read the date August 9, possibly hinting at its launch date, which also happens to the same day as the Galaxy Note 9 launch. As the name suggests, the tablet sports an 8-inches display with more compact housing compared to the Tab A (2017).
Samsung seems to be working on eliminating the physical home button to save space as much as possible. The rounded glass on the left and right of the screen gives the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018) more premium on the eye. On the right are the volume buttons and the power button with microSD card slot for memory expansion. It is 7.5 millimeters shorter and comes out at about 204.6 millimeters.
The tablet is expected to come with Android Oreo. However, at this moment, there are details on the specifications of the tablet, but with the probable launch inching closer, we should know more details at the time of launch.

The EU has fined Google with a $5.04 billion for forcing its apps on Android manufacturers. To put it in simple words, EU wants Google to unbundle its Chrome and Search app from Android phones, but this might have implication in the future of free-Android business model. Google CEO Sundar Pichai in a response to EU’s $5 billion fine, claims that users install an average of 50 apps themselves and also gives the ability to remove the pre-installed app any time they wish.
The vast majority of the free-Android model is dependant on the app bundling and preventing it from bundling its own apps, will upset the Android ecosystem. In a blog post, Google CEO, Sundar Pichai said: "If phone makers and mobile network operators couldn’t include our apps on their wide range of devices, it would upset the balance of the Android ecosystem. So far, the Android business model has meant that we haven't had to charge phone makers for our technology or depend on a tightly controlled distribution model. "
On the other hand, EU made no suggestions on how Google should solve its app bundling violations. But if the phone makers were given the chance to bundle their browser instead of Chrome and point search ...
