Google Maps for iOS is getting a new update that brings a new feature ‘match.' This feature will help you by suggesting new restaurants that it thinks you might enjoy. Google will collect the data including the places you’ve visited and interests you provide, to predict if you would like a particular restaurant. Google Maps Match feature was initially rolled out to Android back in May and was first introduced at the I/O 2018. The 'Your Match' feature will display how likely you are to enjoy a place and reasons explaining why once you tap on any food or drink venue. Google is using machine learning to generate this based on factors like food and drink preferences you’ve selected in Google Maps, the places you’ve been to, and more. The matches list will change as your preferences evolve. You can download or update the already existing Google Maps app for iOS from App Store here. Google about the new Match feature on Maps said: Our new “match” feature will help you find your one true love. And by love, we mean your next favorite cheeseburger. Tap on a food or drink spot to see how likely you are to enjoy it based on your unique preferences – so ...

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="571"] Image: 9to5Mac[/caption] We've heard about future iPhones sporting Dual-SIM slots, in fact, the upcoming entry-level 6.1-inch iPhone 2018 with dual sim support to be priced as low as $550. To further strengthen earlier rumors, the iOS 12 developer beta 5 update that was rolled out recently shows the evidence of the dual-SIM support.  The iOS 12 beta 5 shows the support for dual SIM at least in the software front. A component of the system that is responsible for the generation of diagnostic reports includes new references to “second SIM status” and a “second SIM tray status”. Another component shows references of a “dual sim device.” These references are a clear indication that Apple is finally prepping iOS to run on future iPhones with support for Dual SIM cards. This particular feature is especially important for European and Asian markets where support for Dual SIM cards is a necessity since it eliminates the need to swap SIM cards constantly. Though this development doesn't mean that future iPhones will come with Dual SIM card slots, it sure brings a ray of hope for those who were waiting. Source

Apple is rumored to launch the large 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus later this year with a screen resolution of 1242 x 2688 pixels. Now according to a Brazilian Apple news site iHelpBR, there were pieces of evidence found in the latest iOS 12 beta update that more or less confirms the resolution and suggests the iPhone X Plus will support iPad-like landscape mode. Despite the presence of a large 5.8-inch display on the iPhone X, it does not support the iPad-like landscape mode throughout the operating system, but rather only supports limited app interfaces in landscape mode. Testing the iOS simulator and XCode with iOS 12 at a resolution of 1242 x 2688 pixels, it is discovered that the stock applications such as Calendar, Contacts, and Messages are already being optimized for a broader landscape layout. For instance, take the Calendar app which displays dates on one side, while events on the other side.  Contacts let you view a single contact card on one side and your full list of contacts on the other. Apple seems to be finally addressing the most asked implementation of the landscape with this year’s 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus. Source | Via

Microsoft launches password-less Web Authentication for Edge browser

Microsoft today has introduced support for the Web Authentication specification in Microsoft Edge, enabling more secure user experiences and a password-less experience on the web. This lets users sign in with their face, fingerprint, PIN, or portable FIDO2 devices, leveraging strong public-key credentials instead of passwords. Microsoft says that password-based protection isn't enough to protect the data we store on websites as they are vulnerable to phishing and cracking. With the same goal, the company has been working on technologies like Windows Hello biometrics and pioneering work with the FIDO Alliance to create an open standard for passwordless authentication – Web Authentication. Beginning with build 17723, Microsoft Edge supports the CR version of Web Authentication. This implementation provides the most complete support for Web Authentication, with support for a wider variety of authenticators than other browsers. Windows Hello allows users to authenticate without a password on any Windows 10 device, using biometrics like face, fingerprint recognition or a PIN number to sign in to websites. Thanks to the Web Authentication, users can use the Windows Hello to log in to websites in seconds, with just a glance. Users can also use external FIDO2 security keys to authenticate with a removable device and your biometrics or PIN. Google said to be planning on launching censored search engine in China

Google is said to be planning on launching a censored version of its search engine in China that will blacklist websites and search terms about human rights, democracy, religion, and peaceful protest. The project is code-named Dragonfly and has been underway since spring of 2017.  The project acceleration started taking shape after the meeting between Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai and a top Chinese government official, according to internal Google documents and sources. Furthermore, Google teams of programmers and engineers said to have created a custom Android app, codenamed  “Maotai” and “Longfei,” and is a different version. Interestingly, the final version of the app has already been demonstrated to the Chinese government; the finalized version could be launched in the next six to nine months, pending approval from Chinese officials. If Google can achieve this, it marks the first time the internet giant has operated its search engine in the country. The current situation in China has blocked the Google’s search service by the country’s Firewall. The new app built by Google for China will comply with the country’s strict censorship laws, restricting access to content that Xi Jinping’s Communist Party regime deems unfavorable. The internal documents about the project are currently marked “Google confidential,” say that Google’s Chinese search app ...

From a disruptive starter to a humble leader: OnePlus’ unconventional breakthrough in India

0
0
Over the past few years, OnePlus in India has established itself as customers' delight, as the company's vision of selling power-packed smartphones at unbelievable pricing struck the right chord. Having said that, the transition from a humble startup into a flourishing brand at present comes through years of hard work. This upstart has already mastered the art of putting out quality devices on a consistent basis, be it OnePlus 3/3T, 5/5T or the latest OnePlus 6. Unlike big smartphone makers, OnePlus rather opted an unconventional way where they relied on the feedback of its large fan base in developing products. Since the launch of its first device in India, OnePlus had a native feel with an impressive build, clean software, and a swift performance. In addition to that, most of the people looked out for a sophistication and value for money in their devices, which the OnePlus directly addressed. Have you ever thought how OnePlus remains at the top albeit they work on only one phone at a time? It's because a great product would sell itself and doesn't need too much marketing. This relentless pursuit of excellence and perfection has made the latest OnePlus 6 as the must-have phone for tech lads ...
