With iPhone X, Apple got rid of the fingerprint scanner, and replaced it with the TrueDepth Camera System for Face ID as a biometric authentication method. Having said that, the company is planning to follow the same strategy with the upcoming iPhone devices as well according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. According to Kuo, Apple's 2019 iPhones won't be supporting the In-display fingerprint scanner either. He also added that Android manufacturers are adopting In-display fingerprint just to differentiate their device from the iPhone. Furthermore, he also predicts 500% growth on smartphones with in-display fingerprint scanner by the first half of 2019. Moreover, the other companies like Samsung also adopted facial recognition technology, but he mentioned that it is not as secure as Apple's TrueDepth Camera System. After rumors of Nokia phone with 5-camera lens on the back, the design sketch of it surfaced earlier this year. Now a prototype of the smartphone has surfaced in China with a similar design. Earlier rumors revealed that Foxconn is working to design and wil manufacture the phone. It has a model number TA-1094 and is rumored to release as Nokia 9 sometime early next year. On the back there are 5 lenses arranged in 1-1-3 formation, one LED flash, an unknown sensor on a circular ring. This doesn't show a fingerprint sensor on the back, so there are chance for the company to introduce 3D face unlock like Apple or go for an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone is rumored to pack a 5.9-inch Quad HD OLED screen, Snapdragon 845, up to 8GB of RAM and OZO audio. HMD Global recently acquired 'PureView' brand, that Microsoft acquired right after the purchase of Nokia’s Devices and Services business back in the day, so there are chances for PureView to come back with Nokia 9.
