Just a few minutes back, we covered the Acer DA223 HQL which was a 21inch portable Android AIO and now Acer has announced Acer TA272 HUL which is 27inch portable Android AIO. The huge 27inch wide angle display sports a WQHD resolution(2560x1440 pixels). Despite being huge and bigger than most normal monitors, it is powered by Android OS. The specifications of the big AIO are NVidia Tegra Quad-core processor 27 inch  WQHD display Android 4.2 JellyBean 10 point multi-touch Dolby Surround sound Edge to Edge design Asymmetric stand 2MP web camera for video calls HDMI port DisplayPort USB 3.0 The Acer DA223 AIO comes with an adjustable tilt stand that allows the AIO to be used in various angles between 30 and 80 degrees. It also comes with Acer's BYOC(Build Your Own Cloud) feature that lets it connect seamlessly with other Acer PC using its own cloud service. We have seen companies stretch the limits of an Android powered device and this is the first time we are seeing a manufacturer come up with an AIO that is fixed to its position because of the lack of a battery pack inside it. Since there is no internal battery, you cannot use it on the go(anyways, you wouldn't want to carry around a 27inch device). The ...

Google and LG partnered to launch the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition back in December last year. We already unboxed the tablet, here we have the benchmarks of the tablet. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz with Adreno 320 GPU and packs 2GB of LPDDR2 RAM, similar to the global variant of the LG G Pad 8.3. It has a 8.3-inch Full HD IPS WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Let’s see how it performs in various synthetic benchmark tests. Since Google has optimized the processor to use the minimal use of CPU cores when the phone is idle, some benchmark might not show the correct scores. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giR2Kq4avKk Quadrant Benchmark It scores 10678 points in the Quadrant Benchmark and lies just behind the Tegra 4-powered Tegra Note. AnTuTu Benchmark 3.3 It managed to clock 14940 points in the AnTuTu Benchmark 3.3. As you can see in the video above, it scored 24747 points in AnTuTu Benchmark 4.0. Low scores in AnTuTu 3.3 might be due to the CPU optimization in the tablet. Vellamo 2.0 HTML5 It scored 1439 in the Vellamo 2 HTML5 browser benchmark. Again, CPU optimization might be the reason for low scores. Vellamo 2.0 Metal It scored ...

Among the plethora of home appliances and tech gadgets that are announced and ready to be shown off at the CES 2014 in the coming days, there are rumors circulating that Huawei will announce a Windows Phone device in Las Vegas during CES 2014. This information falls nicely in place after Huawei announced their commitment towards the Windows Phone platform in September and they seem to be undisturbed by the fact that Microsoft now owns Nokia which holds more than 90% of the WP market share. Huawei Ascend W3 is rumored to be the successor of Huawei Ascend W2 which was a mid-range Windows Phone smartphone. According to leaked rumors, the specifications of Ascend W3 don't go beyond the budget range and it is expected to come with a slightly bigger and better display(supposedly 720x1280 pixels). Despite being complacent in specifications, Huawei seem to be bothered about the build quality as the Ascend W3 is expected to sport a thin all aluminum build and is expected to follow a design language close to the Huawei Ascend P6. In terms of software, Huawei Ascend W3 is expected to run GDR3 version of Windows Phone 8 OS. The device is expected to be shown ...

Nokia Lumia 1020 and Lumia 520 emerge as the favourites in #SmartFone13

0

2013 came to an end a few days back and so did our quest to see which two phones would emerge as the favourites in our #Smartfone13 championship for flagships as well as budget devices. Two major polls were run in parallel for about a week with several phones knocked out in the weeks before, to bring the tally to the final four. It was Sony Xperia Z1 vs the Nokia Lumia 1020 for the flagship battle and the Nokia Lumia 520 vs the Gionee Elife E6 for the budget devices battle, with the Lumias ending up as the winners. How? Go past the break to find out! The Lumia 1020 first contested with the HTC One, which is arguably one of the best looking Android phones ever made, but when it came to the camera, there was no question of which was better. The Lumia 1020 won by a decent margin even thought the polls were close at the start. And then it contested with the LG G2, which upped the level of competition because the G2 is easily the best LG device ever made and had a lot going for it. It even had a great camera, so the ...

HTC’s unaudited 4Q 2013 results show small net profits amidst operating losses

HTC posted its first losses last quarter, even after the good performance of its flagship device - the One, and was expected to post huge losses this quarter too. Apparently, the Beats buy back seems to have provided some much needed cash for HTC, which has translated directly into small net profits for the company, after taxes. Today, HTC has posted its unaudited Q4 2013 results, with the numbers coming in at NT$42.89 billion(1.43 billion USD) of revenue with operating losses of NT$ 1.56 billion(52 million USD). Apple acquires Snappylabs, the maker of burst photo app Snappycam

0
0
Snappylabs, a one-man company that is known for the burst photography app called Snappycam, has been acquired by Apple, as per confirmation provided to Re/code. Apple's A7 processor already enables super fast burst photography at 10 frames per second on the iPhone 5s, but from the looks of the acquisition, Apple might want to push for more with their default camera. The Snappycam app, which was recently pulled from the app store, could take up to 30 or even 60 fps high resolution images, which is pretty outstanding for a third party app. The company, which has now been acquired might pave the way for more camera innovation for the iPhone, at least from the software front. The iPhone always has a pretty great camera, with the 5S recently getting nice little additions like 720p slow motion and super fast burst capture, but competition has been advancing vastly. The Lumia PureView cameras, the LG G2, the Oppo N1 and several other phones have ensured that the space gets enough action and constant one-upping, so it's on Apple to deliver something great for the next iPhone, which might have led to this acquisition. Like several of its earlier acquisitions, this will be ...
