After passing through the FCC, Huawei's P Smart has finally surfaced online revealing the design in its full glory. The device comes with a waterdrop notch and much like recent Huawei and Honor phones, it too will come in new gradient colors. Apart from the different color scheme, the looks of the P Smart is largely identical at first sight. As for the specifications, it is expected to sport a 6.2-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) LCD display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio. The teardrop notch accommodates the front camera. It will be powered by the Huawei's own Kirin 710 Octa-core SoC clocked at 2.2GHz. It will have different variants ranging from 3/4GB to 32/64GB. While there is very little information available about the device, the camera details remain a complete mystery. But going by the recent lineup of Huawei, it should pack in a 24-megapixel camera on the front, while a 13-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary camera for recording depth information. It has a moderate 3200mAh battery and might run on Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 on top. Since the company launched the original P Smart back in December 2017, we expect the 2018 edition to go official in the next few weeks. Stay tuned. Source

Huawei said to be testing Google’s Fuchsia OS on Kirin 970 powered Honor Play

It is already known that Google is testing Fuchsia operating system for months now, though it never spoke about it publicly. It is also speculated that eventually, Fuchsia will replace the Android operating system completely, and possibly even Chrome OS too. While we know nothing about the OS, we now know that Huawei could be the first OEM to boot Fuchsia OS.  The company is allegedly test-driving the OS on the Honor Play. A new commit in the Fuchsia source code has revealed that Huawei has managed to boot the Zircon kernel on the Honor Play. The Zircon kernel–separate from the Linux kernel Android is based on–in its finished state will serve as Fuchsia’s kernel. While it is still far from being finished or stable, it is still a good start. The patch adds support for the HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC to the Zircon kernel, and the Honor Play is one of the smartphones with this chipset. Apart from Honor Play, there is the Huawei P20 lineup, the Huawei Mate 10 lineup, the Honor 10, the Honor View 10, and more. However, this means nothing to the end user since Fuchsia is currently in an unfinished state and we have no clue when it will be. Right now, it is just a ...

This could be the best time to shift from your iPhone to the OnePlus 6T: Here’s why

$

Undoubtedly, iPhones are the most popular smartphones in the world with its own set of pros and cons. With that being said, the Cupertino tech giant has been slowly cranking up the average cost of the iPhone especially in the past couple of years. This move was abhorred by most of the people including few hardcore Apple fans. As a result, the company has limited the production of the recently launched iPhone XR, iPhone XS and XS max. While few remain loyal to iOS, there are lots of consumers out there, wanting to switch to Android eco-system due to its open-end possibility and affordability. If you are the one planning for a switch, this could be the best time to shift from your iPhone to the OnePlus 6T for some premium Android experience. One of the major reasons is its price point. Carrying a retail tag of Rs. 37,999, the OnePlus 6T is more than half the price of the iPhone XR. Another reason is based on Android customisation. As per the Google claims, Android Pie is one of the major updates in the Android's history which in different direction focussed heavily on Assistant's and AI's, with increased automation at the core ...

Here’s How OPPO’s Super VOOC Charging Works

$

Ever since OPPO introduced VOOC charging a few years back, it has taken the mantle of being the fastest charging standard around. However, as smartphone usage becomes ever more integrated into our life, there is a need for an even faster charging solution. Earlier this year, OPPO debuted the successor to VOOC and it puts every competing standard to shame. Follow along as we talk in depth about OPPO’s Super VOOC charging technology.  Let's start with the basics. OPPO's Super VOOC takes a leap ahead of VOOC Flash Charge and dramatically improves on charging times. Super VOOC can give you a 40% charge in 10 minutes. Realistically, we’re talking about a full day’s worth of charge in the time it takes you to make a cup of coffee. This is a drastic improvement over the first generation VOOC technology that took half an hour to charge up to 60%. So how does it work?  A standard charger tops off a phone with a constant charge. This takes a really long time to charge your phone. In comparison, fast charging technologies are able to give you a lot of power quickly but then taper off once the battery has reached a certain percentage. The first generation ...

Google Chrome for Android to get iOS-like gesture-based navigation

Google Chrome for iOS packs gesture navigation making it easier to surf the internet. It allows you to go back or forward a page by simply swiping right or left. However, the company seems to be working on bringing this to Android, according to a new commit posted on Chromium.  It is an early work-in-progress version of gesture navigation for Chrome’s Android app. By “over scrolling” to the left or right, you will be able to quickly navigate forward or backward through your history. Chrome for Android offers a vertical ‘pull to refresh’ gesture, which is being used as the basis for these new horizontal gestures. As it’s still in the work-in-progress state, it may be a few weeks before we see the new navigation gestures in action. It would first become available to Chrome Canary Android app. Once it does arrive for testing, the gestures will still need to be enabled with a flag. Gesture navigation certainly needs a solid amount of testing, as there are surely mobile-friendly sites that use a swipe to the left or right to do things like change pictures in a gallery or open a context menu. Furthermore, the Chromium team is also working out when certain native pages, like the New ...

In recent months, it has begun rolling out to other countries when English is selected as the default language. Google app 8.59 plans to widen the availability, noting that “Continued Conversation is currently available for all English users.” Google Assistant’s Your people feature allows users to assign the personal relationships between themselves and others. For example, you can directly tell Assistant which contact is a family member, or when their birthday is. Google app 8.59 is testing the ability to expand the home screen home screen widget.
