Xiaomi has scheduled an event in China on January 10th to launch a new smartphone. The invite has 4800 written upside down hinting at a 48MP camera phone that was teased by Xiaomi President Lin Bin in an image last month. The image showed a large sensor along with dual LED flash. Another teaser hints at a large sensor and 3x zoom.
Honor already introduced its V20 smartphone with a 48-megapixel camera last week. This will likely come with the same Sony IMX586 1/2-type (8.0 mm diagonal) sensor. It could be powered by Snapdragon 675 11nm Mobile Platform since Xiaomi has already confirmed that it will launch Snapdragon 675-powered smartphone this year.
Since we have a week to go for the event, we can expect more details about the smartphone in the coming days.
WIPO and USPTO published a patent of an LG smartwatch and method for controlling same on December 20, 2018. The patent hints at a smartwatch with a camera in the watch band. It is necessary to move the camera to get a clean photograph which is easy with a smartphone, but it's a bit difficult on a wrist.
For this exact reason, the camera is configured in such a way that it can be photographed in the direction of the object. The watch band can slide into the watch case, causing the camera to move towards the watch case. Alternatively, the camera itself may move on the watch band or the camera may be implemented in a loose link that users can swap with another link.
Additionally, LG may develop a clip that can easily be attached to the watchband. The patent also describes that LG's smartwatch can recognize faces. Once you make a picture of a person, the camera will be able to make a cut-out of the face. The camera can also be used to know more information about a product; meaning take a picture and give a long-press on the display and the watch will display information for the same.
In addition, users can take a picture ...

Huawei is said to be working on a smartphone with Penta rear camera setup, according to the case design. The company last year introduced smartphones with triple rear camera setup. The company now has applied for a number of design patents at the Chinese CNIPA on 27 June 2018 and the patents were published on 1 January 2019.
The company usually files for smartphone designs, but this time it is cases. One of these cases stood out from the pack as it comes with an interesting opening at the rear, larger than that of the Mate 20 Pro. Based on the design and the shape of the opening, the smartphone, there is a possibility that it might come with Penta rear cameras and LED flash.
As you would expect, no details regarding the camera or the smartphone itself are nowhere mentioned in the patent file. But putting the patented case and Mate20 Pro design aside, one could easily identify the difference and it is quite obvious that a smartphone with more sensors is in the making, so this could be Mate 30 Pro. Meanwhile, HMD Global's Nokia is also rumored to working on Nokia 9 flagship with Penta cameras on the back.
[caption id="attachment_272103" align="aligncenter" width="574"] Screen grab from @evleaks video[/caption]
We already know that Samsung is working on its foldable phone, and it was also showcased officially back in November last year. Out of nowhere, now a new video of a foldable smartphone from Xiaomi has surfaced, thanks to @evleaks. It can be folded both the sides, turning the huge tablet-like screen to a small phone-like formfactor. If this is real, this should be the world's first dual-side foldable phone.
Can't speak to the authenticity of this video or device, but it's allegedly made by Xiaomi, I'm told. Hot new phone, or gadget porn deepfake? pic.twitter.com/qwFogWiE2F

It runs MIUI 10, and the UI adapts to the screen size quickly. According to rumors from China, the phone might be teased at its Redmi event on January 10th as a surprise, while the official announcement and availability might take time. We should know more details about the foldable phone from Xiaomi soon.
Samsung is working on the Galaxy S10 flagships which are due in February. We have heard many rumors and reports leading until today, but we haven't seen the device in live, apart from renders. Filling the void, we are finally are getting to see the S10 "Beyond 1," in the wild.
As expected the device features infinity O display wherein it has a cut out within the display to accompany the front-camera. Going by the surfaced image, the Galaxy S10 packs an ultra slim bezels on all corners giving more room for the display. Like the Mate 20 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Beyond 1, will also feature the ability to wirelessly charge other compatible devices like handsets and watches as well.
One cool feature I haven't heard mentioned previously is this model's ability to wirelessly charge other compatible devices like handsets and watches.
— Evan Blass (@evleaks) January 3, 2019
Since Beyond 1 is the base model of the Galaxy S10, it packs singe front-camera, whereas the Plus variant will have quad-rear cameras arranged horizontally, unlike the Galaxy A9 and dual-selfie shooters, so the cutout is a bit wider. The bezels on top and bottom are slim even when compared to the Galaxy S9, and Note 9. According ...
Samsung is busy prepping the Galaxy M-series, which will be the first series to come equipped with the new Infinity-U display. One among the new series is the Galaxy M30 which looks to be Samsung's answer to the growing competition from Chinese manufacturers like Huawei, Xiaomi.
According to rumors, the Galaxy M30 packs a massive 5000mAh battery, and sports a 6.38-inch Infinity U Full HD (2220 x1080 pixels) display. The Galaxy M30 comes with three cameras on the back, a 13+5+5MP sensors which would be regular, wide-angle lens, and telephoto lens for portrait shots. It also comes with a single 16MP selfie shooter on the front. The M30 measures 159 x 75.1 mm and is around 8.4 mm thick.
Unfortunately, at this moment we do not have information regarding which processor is used on the device. There is a possibility that the Galaxy M-series might debut in the coming weeks. So until the company launches, all we have are the rumors and concept renders of the design.

Microsoft has switched the dark mode on with October update of Windows 10 and it's up to app developers to do their part. Google is now bringing dark mode for Chrome on Windows 10. Google Chrome for MacOS is already confirmed to bring dark mode in the first half of 2019.
Bringing native support for the dark mode in Chrome would put it in line with Microsoft's own Edge browser and Mozilla's Firefox on Windows 10. If you are a tester, you can try an early version of dark mode as early as today. According to a bug report, Google has intended since at least May 2017 that Chrome should embrace Windows 10’s dark mode setting.
Comments on the code found in Chromium’s Gerrit source code management have revealed that Windows 10 was originally supposed to gain dark mode support alongside macOS. However, there were some flaws leading to the developer to halt the progress.
The dark mode feature is available in Chrome Canary for Windows, including older versions like Windows 7. You can enable it by right-clicking your Chrome Canary shortcut, choosing Properties, then add “ –force-dark-mode.” The feature is currently in testing, so, we don't know when it would become available for everyone.

Samsung is said to be working on the newer version of the Gear IconX earbuds along with the Gear Sport and Gear Fit 2 successor. The latest IconX earbuds come with model number SM-R170 and will be available in black, white, and yellow colors. The earbuds will come with 8GB of internal storage which is the highest on any Gear-branded product for Samsung.
However, that's where all the good things end. Much like the Galaxy Watch, there is a possibility that the new IconX might feature the Galaxy branding. This may be a good move as it brings uniformity across products. Samsung is also said to be launching the Bixby-powered Galaxy Home with AKG speakers this year.
The company might offer better battery life on the new IconX and this might not be a significant improvement as the current Gear IconX (2018) already brings in a significant improvement in endurance over the first iteration of the earbuds. Instead, Samsung might increase the battery capacity of the charging case, but we can’t say anything for certain at the moment.
Samsung is working on the foldable display for years now and the company at the Developer Conference in 2018, finally showed off the prototype of this device with its new OLED panel; the Infinity Flex display. The company back then didn't reveal many details regarding the specifications except for the display size.
However, digging deep inside the firmware teardown of the Verizon 5G device codenamed “Bolt,” there were references to a new Sony camera sensor that Samsung will use in their foldable phone. “Winner” is the codename Samsung is using for the foldable phone. These files are library files that represent drivers for the device. This camera driver is for the unannounced Sony IMX374 sensor for the device code-named “winner”.
However, there is no information regarding the sensor itself. With the launch of the Galaxy S10 inching closer, there is no news regarding the camera sensors and it is rumored that the company will be announcing more information in February right before Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The Sony IMX374 sensor could be announced at CES or may lead up to MWC. Samsung isn't planning on launching the "Winner" foldable phone until after Q1 of 2019, so don’t expect much launch information just yet.
Samsung has started rolling out the stable Galaxy Note 9 Android Pie update. The update is currently rolling out in Germany but should make it to other markets where the beta was made available. For those who are already on the Note 9 Pie beta, the stable update is just a 95 MB download, which suggests that the last beta was more or less the final version.
The Galaxy Note 9 Pie update should also be available for those on Android Oreo since the stable Galaxy S9 update was also released for non-beta users. However, at the moment, it needs to be seen just how widespread the update will be since the Galaxy S9 Pie update is still available only in a few countries. Samsung did announce that the Android Pie for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 would be out in January, so it’s possible the official rollout may begin in the next few days.
The software version for the stable Pie update is N960FXXU2CRLT and it includes the January 2018 security patch. To get Android 9.0 Pie, tap the Download and install option in the Software update section of the settings app. Do let us know if you are seeing the Android Pie update on your Galaxy Note ...
