Microsoft unveiled the much awaited Microsoft Office suite for iPad with 3 separate apps for Word , Excel and Powerpoint. The apps just went live on the US iTunes App Store at 11AM Pacific time and 2PM Eastern time. The apps are free to download and viewing office documents is free. However to edit the documents, an Office 365 subscription is required.

Sony was one among the first of the electronics giant to jump into the smart watch category and it has so far launched a couple of smart watches. Until now, both the products haven't really made it to the larger crowd. Sony SmartWatch does not use Android as its OS, but works with Android smartphones.
Last week, when Google announced Android Wear SDK for smart watches, LG and Moto were the first manufacturers to jump aboard with their LG G Watch and Moto 360 respectively. Sony was not a part of the list of manufacturing partners at that time and Sony don't seem to be willing to be a part. Sony has announced that it will not adapt the Android Wear OS for its smart watches, but will continue to push its own OS for its smart watches.
According to Sony US head, the company has invested a lot of efforts and resources into the company's own platform and it hopes to continue in that direction. In an update to the original statement, Sony has mentioned that it is still evaluating its options and is open to Android Wear.

HTC unveiled the Desire 816 at the MWC last month. Earlier this month Desire 516 with 5-inch qHD display and a quad-core processor surfaced online. Today, HTC Desire 616 with octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor has surfaced online in live images posted by a weibo user. It has also been certified in Tenna in China that reveals the complete specifications of the device. It has a 5-inch HD display and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with HTC Sense 5 on top.
Other features include a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 3G support, 1GB RAM and a micro SD expansion slot. Details about internal storage and battery are not available yet.
The HTC Desire 616 would come in Black, Blue, White, Red and Yellow colors. It is expected to launch officially in China soon. HTC unveiled the Desire 310, a budget smartphone with MediaTek chip earlier this month. Hope we can expect HTC to launch these budget smartphone in India.

Samsung India Country Head Vineet Taneja just confirmed that the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) would be powered by an Octa-Core Exynos processor in India as expected, similar to the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3. It would be powered by a Octa-Core Exynos 5422 (A15 1.9 GHz ＋ A7 1.3 GHz) processor with ARM Mali T628 MP6 GPU and Heterogeneous Multi-Processing and has XMM6360 for HSPA+ ( up to 42 Mbps) connectivity. Since it has Heterogeneous Multi-Processing, it can run combination of up to eight cores to provide optimum performance.
It based on ARM big.LITTLE architecture and is based on 28nm High K Metal Gate Process technology. Four cores are of the Cortex A15 type running at 1.9 GHz will be doing all the heavy lifting for the intensive tasks while the Cortex A7 cores, which are the remaining four running at 1.3 GHz, are used for the less intensive tasks.
The LTE variant has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. We will be checking out the performance of the Exynos Octa 5422 in detail soon. Samsung is yet to unveil the pricing for the Galaxy S5.

It was announced at the MWC 2014 last month and packs a 5.1-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display, powered by a Octa-Core Exynos 5422 (A15 1.9 GHz ＋ A7 1.3 GHz) processor with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat).

Samsung announced the much anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona earlier this year and it missed out more features that were rumored than the ones it packed. there wasn't a 2K display or a premium build quality which was among the many features it missed. Nevertheless, Samsung knows the market better than anyone and they have come up with the Galaxy S5 with a bigger display, better camera and battery.
Today Samsung launched the Galaxy S5 in India, but it did not announce the final pricing yet. Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched at Rs. 41,500 in India and currently retails for around Rs. 29,500. Yesterday, there were rumors which suggested that Samsung Galaxy S5 would be the first Samsung flagship device to sport a price tag of over Rs. 50,000 and today, a Press Release suggests the same. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be priced between Rs. 51,000 and Rs. 53,000. That makes it Samsung's costliest smartphone offering and it will be nearly Rs. 10,000 higher than the current price of Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Ever since phablets launched, there has been a push for scaling and an increase in the information density on those screens, irrespective of resolution. There has been a push to adopt the, initially clunky, Multi Window system that allowed an user to have two different apps, or more recently, two different instances of the same app. all on the same screen. It made sense for some tasks such as using the calculator and having your expense notes on the same screen, or a voice recorder and a notes page for quick typing of notes on the same screen. Samsung has launched the Gear and Gear Neo smartwatches in India along with the Galaxy S5. Samsung unveiled the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and the Gear Fit at the MWC 2014 last month. The Gear 2 is the successor of the first Galaxy Gear, that was introduced at the IFA 2013. Unlike the first Android-based Galaxy Gear, this one runs on Tizen OS, optimized for wearable devices. It has the same 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display that we had seen on the Gear. It has a 2-megapixel auto focus camera capable of recording 720p HD videos.
The Gear Neo is almost similar to the Gear, but it lacks a camera on top. Samsung has launched the Gear Fit in India along with the Galaxy S5, Gear and Gear Neo. Samsung introduced the Gear Fit, the company’s first wearable fitness band at the MWC 2014 last month. The Gear fit has a wide 1.84-inch (432 x 128 pixels) Curved Super AMOLED display. It also has Pedometer, Heart Rate sensor, Accelerometer and Gyro sensors.
You can remove the Gear Fit unit easily to change the strap. It has IP67 ratings for dust and water resistance and uses Bluetooth 4.0 LE to pair with your Samsung Smartphone. It also has companion Gear Fit Manager app to manage apps and monitor your fitness data and also control your media on the phone, from the Gear Fit.

BlackBerry Z10 received a price cut to Rs. 17,990 last month to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its foray into the Indian market. S Mobility has launched the Spice Stellar Mettle Icon Mi- 506, the latest smartphone in the Spice Mettle series with a metal body. It has a 5-inch (480 x 854 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Apple is not the sort of company that get its consumers through discounts and low prices. Samsung already sells LED lighting products in several countries. Today Samsung announced their first Smart Bulb with Bluetooth support. This lets you control 64 bulbs directly from a smartphone or a tablet using an application. It doesn't need bridge,wireless connection, equipment or any tedious set up, says the company. LG unveiled a similar Smart Bulb earlier this week with built-in Bluetooth 4.0 that lets you control it using Android and iOS devices.
The Smart Bulb can be dimmed down to 10% brightness and is CCT tunable from 2700K (arm white) to 6500K (cool white). A Smart Bulb would last for 15,000 hours (based on 4-hour use per day) so you can approximately 10 years, says Samsung. It also supports Zigbee Smart Bulb so that you can control it from anywhere.
Samsung would showcase the Smart Bulb and other LED products at Light + Building 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany from March 30th to April 4th 2014. It is not clear what we can see the Samsung Smart Bulb in the market or how much it would cost.

Dell is not just one of the biggest PC makers out there, but also a close ally to Microsoft, with the latter recently helping out when the company went private. But being an independent company, Dell did make its foray into other platforms, with Android, and eventually even Chrome OS, both Google products. But surprisingly, even Microsoft is licensing some patents from Dell for its Xbox gaming consoles, making this deal more balanced than usual.
