Samsung today unveiled the next chapter of its Galaxy Note line of devices. With an even larger display stuck inside a shell that is the same size as before, Samsung has some interesting industrial design going here. Over at the back is a faux leather material that makes it a bit more comfortable to hold.
The front of the device is dominated by its 5.7 inch display. The screen is of the AMOLED variety and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Below it is a hardware home key that has capacitive buttons flanking it on either side. Over on the top is 3.5mm audio jack alongside the iR port while on the right side of the handset is the power key. The volume rocker on the other hand is placed on the left side of the handset.
The back of the phone has a faux leather material with a 13MP camera onboard. There's a single LED flash below it. The Note 3 is one of the first devices to be able to capture video in 4K resolution. We were live blogging the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch event from Berlin and we did manage to get our hands on the device.It does look slightly different from the previous generation Galaxy Note 2 in terms of the design and features.It has a larger 5.7 inch display and feels pretty nice to hold in hand thanks to the new textured back which is not a fingerprint magnet.The back cover is still removable.It supports LTE globally on every network according to Samsung.It also supports Ultra HD or 4K video capture which is pretty new to phones. It weighs 168grams and is about 8.33 m thick and the iconic stylus or S-pen is still part of the package.

It's never a dull day at Samsung Unpacked and today at IFA 2013 in Berlin, it was the same with Samsung announcing the new Galaxy Note 3 and its companion device, the Galaxy Gear Smartwatch.

Sony has announced their new F886 Walkman, an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean powered Music Player with a 4-inch (854 x 480 Pixels) LCD Triluminos display for vivid, lifelike colours . It has one-touch listening via NFC connectivity so that you can pair and connect your F886 with a range of NFC-enabled devices, option to install Android apps and games via Google Play and has Sony’s proprietary sound technology that offer audio at 192KHz/24bit High-Resolution Audio.

Google has released the Android’s Platform Distribution Numbers for the period of August to September 2013. Devices running on Jelly Bean (Android 4.1 and 4.2) has jumped from 40.5% to 45.1%, a 4.6 % jump in a single month. The growth is more compared to last month. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean started rolling out for the Nexus devices and Google Play Editions of the S4 and the HTC One. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 that was unveiled yesterday would be the first non-Nexus device to launch with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) out of the box.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 would go on sale in several countries later this month, and Sony has promised that they would roll out Android 4.3 for their devices soon. Samsung Galaxy devices is also rumored to Hope we could see the Android 4.3 in this chart soon. Google announced the Android 4.4 KitKat earlier this week. It is not clear when they plan to release it.
Gingerbread continues to decrease, which has 30.7% share, while the ICS is down to 21.7% from 22.5% last month. The drop in ICS and Gingerbread indicates a steady rise in Jelly Bean. Last month we reported that HTC would launch the Dual SIM variant of the HTC One soon. The phone went on sale online last month, Now HTC and Tata Docomo has partnered to launch the phone in India officially, calling it HTC One Dual SIM +. The company says that this is the first Android phone launched in India which offers CDMA and UMTS dual SIM capability. It has similar features as the HTC One single-SIM variant including a 4.7 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, Android Jelly Bean with Sense 5, UltraPixel camera with LED Flash and a 2.1MP HD front-facing camera.
You can use CDMA or a UMTS/GSM SIM card as the primary SIM and a GSM SIM card as a secondary SIM. It also has a removable back cover and memory card slot that lets you expand the memory up to 64GB.

Without doubt, apple has had a lot of success with the slate design of their iPhones - from the iPhone 4 onwards, the design hasn't really changed.
For rival manufacturers, the challenge has been to design hardware that is as appealing whilst also providing an easy to use yet functional user interface. In the Ascend P6, Huawei have aimed to do just that but have they been successful? Or does the design cross the fine line between excellent design and "taking inspiration from rivals"?
The Ascend P6 follows a similar design to the iPhone 5, with the candybar design dominated by the large display. With the same 4:3 aspect ratio on the screen, the Huawei Ascend P6 looks like a larger version of Apple's current flagship smartphone.
The back of the Ascend P6 also looks almost identical to the iPhone 5 - from the camera in the top let hand corner to the Huawei logo beneath, the P6 follows an almost identical design style. The key differences are the positioning of the camera flash and the speaker grill - the iPhone speaker grill is at the bottom of the device.

Lenovo has announced the Vibe X , the company's latest smartphone at the IFA 2013. It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS "20/20 Vision" display at 440 PPI for sharp images with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor and has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 88 degree wide angle lens. There is also a photo application to view and organize images, option to create puzzles and customize specific games from the photos, choose custom settings and filters and instant photo and video sharing.

The big day at IFA has come and gone but sadly there has been no official announcement of the rumoured HTC One Max phablet. Nonetheless today Samsung announced their new Galaxy Note 3 phablet and we went hands on alongside a quick comparison with the HTC One.

The two devices are classes apart in terms of both design and specifications - whilst the HTC One has a 4.7 inch Full HD display offering best-in-class 468ppi pixel density, the Galaxy Note 3 comes with a 5.7 inch Full HD 1080p Super AMOLED display that promises vibrant colours and deep blacks.
Under the hood is the biggest change - the HTC One is powered by 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor and features 2GB RAM whilst Samsung have gone all out in the Galaxy Note 3, equipping their flagship phablet with a superfast 2.3 GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 processor for LTE markets and 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos 5 processor for non-LTE markets. Today we have the new Google Nexus 7 (2013) against Samsung's Galaxy Tab 3 311. The new Nexus 7 was launched in July and is yet to be available in India while the Galaxy Tab 3 was launched in July and has been available since then in India.
The Nexus 7 comes with an upgraded processor, much better display and a rear camera which was absent in its predecessor while the Galaxy Tab 3 has Samsung's Exynos SoC.

Design, Build Quality
The Google Nexus 7 follows a different design formula with thin side bezels, but big top and bottom bezels. The material used is also different with the rubbery matte finish on the back offering a solid grip. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 follows the design language of the latest series of Galaxy phones with a full plastic build and a plastic rim running across the device.
In terms of dimensions, the Nexus 7 is less wide and shorter than the Galaxy Tab 3, but is thicker than it. In terms of weight, the Nexus 7 weighs 290g while the Galaxy Tab 3 weighs 314g.

Earlier this year Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 and then, to compete against the waterproof Sony Xperia Z, they introduced the Galaxy S4 Active. The S4 Active is a durable version of the Galaxy S4, with a thicker design and IP67 dust and water resistance. Traditionally durable smartphones have come with less-than-stellar specs lists but the Galaxy S4 Active aims to buck this trend.

Google has updated the Drive app for iPhone and iPad to version 2.0 that brings a lot of features including a new design with new grid view, previews and lotes more. Google Drive for Android got these features back in May. You can also switch between the new thumbnail view and the traditional list view, copy the link for any Drive file to share it easily, new details page makes moving the file a Drive folders and sharing easy. Search is not on the front so that you can find something in you drive quickly.

Intex launched the Aqua i7, the company’s flagship Android smartphone earlier this week, Aqua HD that appeared on the official website on the same. The phone is now available from online retailer Infibeam in India. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589 processor and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). The IFA event at Berlin, one of the increasingly important consumer electronic trade shows, just started, but tons of devices have already been launched. Amongst them, standing out from the crowd, is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, unveiled with much excitement and fervor, as leaks failed to provide proper information before launch. The Note 3 is the third iteration of the very popular Note series of devices Samsung made popular. The range, infamously held responsible for creating the phablet phenomenon, also created a paradigm shift in the company, for its portfolio.
Lets go back a little bit. When the first Samsung Galaxy S launched, it was very clear that the company intends to make it its flagship series, with a halo effect trickling down the range under the same Galaxy brand. And then the successor, Samsung Galaxy S2 launched, at the time which the halo effect was essentially accomplished, but there was another device that Samsung launched in the same year - the Samsung Galaxy Note.

For the first time, Apple is hosting two events for the launch of their premium iPhone. The first event is scheduled on September 10th at Apple's HQ in Cupertino and the second event is planned for Sept 11 in China. According to the rumor-mill, it is believed that Apple will be launching two iPhones this time - iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
China Telecom seems to have confirmed the release of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Yesterday, on a micro-blogging site, Chine Telecom's official account posted that the company is now ready to accept pre-orders for the yet to be announced iPhone 5S/5C. The account also said that China was listed one of the first countries to receive the iPhone 5S/5C. It also shared a mock up pre-order page. Both the pages have now been removed.
China is the second largest market for Apple after USA and things are expected to change soon as China is expected to US because of the sheer volume. Sony announced its latest flagship device, the Xperia Z1 here at IFA in Berlin and we've already gone hands on with the camera centric device. It competes within its own stable with the Z Ultra that is also a relatively recent launch for the Japanese smartphone manufacturer. While they don't exactly compete with each other, here's a quick break down to see how the handset fare when placed next to each other.
The design language of the Z1 and Z Ultra is very similar and they most definitely do appear like they belong to the same family of smartphones. The front of the Z1 has a 5 inch Full HD Triluminous display with Sony's X-Reality Engine thrown in for good measure.The Z Ultra on the other hand has an absolutely gargantuan 6.44" screen. The resolution is the same as the Z1 at 1920 x 1080 with the pixel density dropping down to 342ppi versus the 441ppi of the Z1. The screens on both the phones are a much needed improvement over previous gen Sony devices and have fairly wide viewing angles and good color reproduction.

The Sony Xperia Z1 is the latest flagship device announced by the Japanese smartphone manufacturer. We've already gone hands on with it and brought to you all the latest details of the phone. Given the camera centric pedigree of the phone, we found it apt to compare with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. Here's a quick comparison between the two.
The front of the Xperia Z1 has a 5inch Full HD display with the company's triluminous display built in while the Galaxy S4 Zoom makes do with a 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD panel. The Z1 has no capacitive buttons and makes do with onscreen controls. The S4 Zoom on the other hand has a hardware home key right below the display with capacitive buttons on either side of it.

Apple is all set to announce its next iPhone - iPhone 5S and its cheaper version of iPhone - iPhone 5C next week on September 10th. We have had various leaks and rumors suggesting that Apple was indeed testing a bigger iPhone and a larger iPad and today we have more information from The Wall Street Journal that Apple is testing iPhones ranging from 4.8inch - 6inch.
The era of big screen handhelds (not tablets) started with Samsung's experimental Note series. The Galaxy Note became an instant hit because of its huge display which seems perfect for media consumption. Ever since, 5inch+ devices are weird anymore and Samsung just announced their third Note iteration - Galaxy Note 3 which, given its features and performance, is expected to be another feather in Samsung's cap. Nonetheless, Apple hasn't had any share of this big screen pie yet. Apple has been happy with the success its 4inch device is bringing. Just ahead of the IFA, Google revealed that their next version of Android will be Android 4.4 KitKat in a surprising manner with no events or anything of that. Last year, Google Nexus 4 was launched in November along with Android 4.2 Jellybean and looks like Google are getting ready to replace their flagship smartphone device. In the past, there have been rumors flying around that Motorola has been roped in build the next Nexus smartphone device. Certain rumors hinted at LG to repeat its favor last year and nothing was confirmed until Google released a video for Android 4.4 KitKat in which Google may have teased the new Nexus 5.
Just a few days after that, a new LG device with the codename - LG D820 has passed the FCC for approval. There were leaks of the back of the phone showcasing its inductive charging unit and NFC coils. The Nokia Lumia 1520 has finally leaked in full glory. We saw the 1080p GDR3 screenshot, we saw the aluminium case and the bezels, and then we saw the phone's rather huge front in another leaked image, but this time, thanks to the leakmeister EVleaks, we have a full press image. From the looks of it, it is definitely made in polycarbonate, with the design closely resembling the Lumia 925, and the device is... just massive. If you don't think it's huge, just take a look at the Windows shortcut capacitive keys. It is also nice to see that the phone has really thin bezels.
Previously, it was claimed that the screen size would be 6 inches, which seems to pretty much a fact after so many leaks. With 1080p support added to Windows Phone 8 in the GDR3 release, Microsoft has thought adding a column of medium sized tiles would make a good idea of utilizing real estate. But I think they are very wrong this time, the screen looks too busy and cluttered to make it a clean experience, which Windows Phone WAS known for.

Google has released the Android’s Platform Distribution Numbers for the period of August to September 2013. Devices running on Jelly Bean (Android 4.1 and 4.2) has jumped from 40.5% to 45.1%, a 4.6 % jump in a single month. The growth is more compared to last month. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean started rolling out for the Nexus devices and Google Play Editions of the S4 and the HTC One. Last month we reported that HTC would launch the Dual SIM variant of the HTC One soon. The phone went on sale online last month, Now HTC and Tata Docomo has partnered to launch the phone in India officially, calling it HTC One Dual SIM +. The company says that this is the first Android phone launched in India which offers CDMA and UMTS dual SIM capability. It has similar features as the HTC One single-SIM variant including a 4.7 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, Android Jelly Bean with Sense 5, UltraPixel camera with LED Flash and a 2.1MP HD front-facing camera.

Without doubt, apple has had a lot of success with the slate design of their iPhones - from the iPhone 4 onwards, the design hasn't really changed.
For rival manufacturers, the challenge has been to design hardware that is as appealing whilst also providing an easy to use yet functional user interface. In the Ascend P6, Huawei have aimed to do just that but have they been successful? Or does the design cross the fine line between excellent design and "taking inspiration from rivals"?
The Ascend P6 follows a similar design to the iPhone 5, with the candybar design dominated by the large display. With the same 4:3 aspect ratio on the screen, the Huawei Ascend P6 looks like a larger version of Apple's current flagship smartphone.
The back of the Ascend P6 also looks almost identical to the iPhone 5 - from the camera in the top let hand corner to the Huawei logo beneath, the P6 follows an almost identical design style. Lenovo has announced the Vibe X , the company's latest smartphone at the IFA 2013. It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS "20/20 Vision" display at 440 PPI for sharp images with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor and has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 88 degree wide angle lens. There is also a photo application to view and organize images, option to create puzzles and customize specific games from the photos, choose custom settings and filters and instant photo and video sharing.

The big day at IFA has come and gone but sadly there has been no official announcement of the rumoured HTC One Max phablet. Nonetheless today Samsung announced their new Galaxy Note 3 phablet and we went hands on alongside a quick comparison with the HTC One.

The two devices are classes apart in terms of both design and specifications - whilst the HTC One has a 4.7 inch Full HD display offering best-in-class 468ppi pixel density, the Galaxy Note 3 comes with a 5.7 inch Full HD 1080p Super AMOLED display that promises vibrant colours and deep blacks.
Under the hood is the biggest change - the HTC One is powered by 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor and features 2GB RAM whilst Samsung have gone all out in the Galaxy Note 3, equipping their flagship phablet with a superfast 2.3 GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 processor for LTE markets and 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos 5 processor for non-LTE markets. Today we have the new Google Nexus 7 (2013) against Samsung's Galaxy Tab 3 311. The new Nexus 7 was launched in July and is yet to be available in India while the Galaxy Tab 3 was launched in July and has been available since then in India.
The Nexus 7 comes with an upgraded processor, much better display and a rear camera which was absent in its predecessor while the Galaxy Tab 3 has Samsung's Exynos SoC.

Design, Build Quality
The Google Nexus 7 follows a different design formula with thin side bezels, but big top and bottom bezels. The material used is also different with the rubbery matte finish on the back offering a solid grip. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 follows the design language of the latest series of Galaxy phones with a full plastic build and a plastic rim running across the device.
In terms of dimensions, the Nexus 7 is less wide and shorter than the Galaxy Tab 3, but is thicker than it. In terms of weight, the Nexus 7 weighs 290g while the Galaxy Tab 3 weighs 314g.

Earlier this year Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 and then, to compete against the waterproof Sony Xperia Z, they introduced the Galaxy S4 Active. The S4 Active is a durable version of the Galaxy S4, with a thicker design and IP67 dust and water resistance. Traditionally durable smartphones have come with less-than-stellar specs lists but the Galaxy S4 Active aims to buck this trend.

Google has updated the Drive app for iPhone and iPad to version 2.0 that brings a lot of features including a new design with new grid view, previews and lotes more. Google Drive for Android got these features back in May. You can also switch between the new thumbnail view and the traditional list view, copy the link for any Drive file to share it easily, new details page makes moving the file a Drive folders and sharing easy. Search is not on the front so that you can find something in you drive quickly.

The phone is now available from online retailer Infibeam in India. The IFA event at Berlin, one of the increasingly important consumer electronic trade shows, just started, but tons of devices have already been launched. Amongst them, standing out from the crowd, is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, unveiled with much excitement and fervor, as leaks failed to provide proper information before launch. The Note 3 is the third iteration of the very popular Note series of devices Samsung made popular. The range, infamously held responsible for creating the phablet phenomenon, also created a paradigm shift in the company, for its portfolio.
Lets go back a little bit. For the first time, Apple is hosting two events for the launch of their premium iPhone. Sony announced its latest flagship device, the Xperia Z1 here at IFA in Berlin and we've already gone hands on with the camera centric device. It competes within its own stable with the Z Ultra that is also a relatively recent launch for the Japanese smartphone manufacturer. While they don't exactly compete with each other, here's a quick break down to see how the handset fare when placed next to each other.
The design language of the Z1 and Z Ultra is very similar and they most definitely do appear like they belong to the same family of smartphones. The front of the Z1 has a 5 inch Full HD Triluminous display with Sony's X-Reality Engine thrown in for good measure.The Z Ultra on the other hand has an absolutely gargantuan 6.44" screen. The resolution is the same as the Z1 at 1920 x 1080 with the pixel density dropping down to 342ppi versus the 441ppi of the Z1. The screens on both the phones are a much needed improvement over previous gen Sony devices and have fairly wide viewing angles and good color reproduction.

The Sony Xperia Z1 is the latest flagship device announced by the Japanese smartphone manufacturer. We've already gone hands on with it and brought to you all the latest details of the phone. Given the camera centric pedigree of the phone, we found it apt to compare with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. Here's a quick comparison between the two.
The front of the Xperia Z1 has a 5inch Full HD display with the company's triluminous display built in while the Galaxy S4 Zoom makes do with a 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD panel. The Z1 has no capacitive buttons and makes do with onscreen controls. The S4 Zoom on the other hand has a hardware home key right below the display with capacitive buttons on either side of it.

Apple is all set to announce its next iPhone - iPhone 5S and its cheaper version of iPhone - iPhone 5C next week on September 10th. The Nokia Lumia 1520 has finally leaked in full glory. We saw the 1080p GDR3 screenshot, we saw the aluminium case and the bezels, and then we saw the phone's rather huge front in another leaked image, but this time, thanks to the leakmeister EVleaks, we have a full press image. From the looks of it, it is definitely made in polycarbonate, with the design closely resembling the Lumia 925, and the device is... just massive. If you don't think it's huge, just take a look at the Windows shortcut capacitive keys. It is also nice to see that the phone has really thin bezels.
Previously, it was claimed that the screen size would be 6 inches, which seems to pretty much a fact after so many leaks.
