LG has just announced its new flagship device at an event in New York. Called the LG G2, it is the first smartphone under the company's new G series of premium devices. The handset combines some of the most cutting technology out there right now with some very intriguing design choices. The LG G2 places all the buttons on the rear of the device which should make it easier to reach given the size of the device.  Moving the main buttons to the back of the phone gave users more control since this place was where individuals’ index fingers are naturally located.  Long-pressing on the rear-mounted volume keys allows users to launch QuickMemo and the camera app, making note taking and photo capturing even easier than before. The phone also lets you double tap the display to unlock the phone. The display is a 5.2 inch Full HD screen and is designed for one handed operation being an edge to edge display. The screen bezel is 2.65mm on either side. Given the quality of displays that LG has used in devices like the G Pro, we expect the G2 to have a stunning display. The LG G2 employs Graphic RAM (GRAM) technology. GRAM reduces the ...

LG launched the G2 their latest flagship Android phone today in New York City in USA. Andre from our US team was there at this launch event and got us these photos of the G2 just for FoneArena readers. The design of the G2 is the worst kept secret and has been leaked a zillion times but then this is the final real device which was announced today. The display is a gorgeous 5.2 inch full HD IPS screen with a very small bezel and there are no physical keys on the front and the Android keys are on screen like on the Nexus 4. It is only the 2nd device featuring the  crazy fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The display is surely one of the best features of the G2 , look at that awesome picture clarity and really thin bezel. LG have managed to pack a 2.1 MP front facing camera next to the ear piece. The back is where the innovation is according to LG and look at what the G2 has to offer. No other phone till date has had volume keys at the back. This is crazy but still interesting considering no other manufacturer has tried it till now. ...

LG G2 Hands On

At an event in New York, LG announced its next generation flagship dubbed the G2. The phone is a fairly significant departure from the design language of the Optimus G. In fact the device comes off as a smartphone inspired by the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and this ideology is not restricted to the hardware of the G2. We've had some time with the handset and while not conclusive, here are our thoughts on LG's latest. The design has seen a fairly major change compared to the previous generation. It's light, but not unsettlingly light like the GS4. The front of the device and the way the glass meets the body feels great. The glass slides off at the corners into the body and the ultra slim bezel (0.1 inches on either side) is highly appreciated. LG has figured out a way to connect the touch controller to the capacitive layer from both above and below the display thereby managing to shrink down the bezel. It calls this 'dual routing'. The phone has a very slim 8.9mm profile and felt great in the hand. Given the slim profile as well as the edge to edge display, some users might even find it a ...

Samsung was the first company to push the boundaries of a smartphone beyond 5 inches with their original Galaxy Note featuring a 5.3inch display and thus creating a new brand of devices - "phablets". The Galaxy Note was a big hit and Samsung followed it up with Galaxy Note 2 having a bigger 5.5inch display. Samsung decided to go beyond 6inches after Huawei's Ascend Mate with their Mega series. We brought you the hands-on comparison of both these devices from the Samsung Galaxy Mega India launch event back in May. Here we have the two members of Samsung Galaxy Mega family - the Mega 5.8 and the Mega 6.3. The twins, if you could call them, were launched at the end of May in India at different price points. Both the devices are almost similar in terms of looks except for the size. The internals however are different in both the phablets. Let's find out which is better. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwiS-oXqyD4 Design, Build Quality Even the designers of these phones would find it hard to differentiate the phones if it wasn't for their size. Here's a surprise. Nokia has added one of the most wanted features to Windows Phone through a simple Extras+info update on Lumia devices running on the Amber update. It was previously revealed that Microsoft had added hooks to its Windows Phone GDR2 release for developers to latch on, and those were of the call and SMS blocking features that didn't exist before. While we were hoping for some third party developer to do it, Nokia itself has come to the fore and added these much requested features to Windows Phone, which is much welcome. Yet another indication that Nokia is doing the work for Microsoft when it should be the other way in an ideal world. This news comes from WPCentral, who have uncovered the update and have provided an overview of how it works in a video here - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztMvlRApIxM Here's the app that enabled and adds call and SMS blocking - As you can see above, the blocked calls and SMSes are displayed and you can view the blocked numbers too. Additionally, you can add live tiles to your start screen that displays the number of blocked calls and SMS. Good news is that it actually integrates with the dialer app, and ...

Samsung is known for flooding the entire market with a plethora of phones and the Galaxy series is good example. Nokia Asha 501 – Made in India, by India, for India

Sriperumbudur, a quiet town outside of Chennai, is now increasingly known for its sprawling automobile factories, electronic SEZs(Special Economic Zones), and of course, hot job opportunities. Several automobile and mobile phone giants are part of this story. It all started 10 years back, when automobile companies like Hyundai saw the proximity to a harbour huge enough to handle exports and set up bases here, quickly gaining this city the name "Detroit of India". In the same "Detroit of India" lies one of Nokia's biggest production facilities. The opportunistic Nokia of the past saw the booming mobile market in India in the 2000s, and started setting up their assembling facility here, right in the heart of Sriperumbudur's SEZ. The logistics for exports had already become robust, thanks to the omnipresent automobile industry in that area. On a surprisingly overcast day, I was on my second visit to Nokia's Chennai facility with several other bloggers. Having already witnessed the marvel of a huge production facility the first time, I couldn't wait to see what new tricks Nokia had up their sleeves. Spoiler: It's the Nokia Asha 501. Yes, the Nokia Asha 501 is one of the many devices that are in production in the ...

Next-gen Nexus 10 Tablet to be manufactured by Asus?

Asus, the manufacturer of the Nexus 7 tablets would make the next-gen Nexus 10 tablet, according to a report from Geek.com. Samsung manufactured the first Nexus 10 tablet that was released back in October last year. Back in July, Amir Efrati, a WSJ reporter tweeted that Google's Sundar Pichai told him that new 10-inch Nexus 10 Android tablet (made by @Samsung) would come in near future. Now he says that the original tweet was badly worded, and the tweet actually meant currently made by Samsung and Sundar didn't specify maker. The first tablet had a 10″ display at a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and was powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual-core ARM Cortex-A15 Exynos 5 dual processor with Mali-T604 GPU. Since the next-gen Nexus 10 is also expected to come with a 10-inch display, it might have same resolution and run on a Snapdragon processor since the new Nexus 7 tablet has a Snapdragon S4 Pro chip instead of the Tegra 3 chip in the last-year's Nexus 7. No details about the specifications yet, or whether this would come with LTE/3G support like the new Nexus 7. The website has also shared a screenshot of the retail inventory that shows Google Nexus 10 16G WiFi model with ...
