Micromax has launched Canvas Selfie, the company's latest selfie-focused smartphone with a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash, similar to the HTC Desire Eye. It also has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a Sony sensor. Other features include, 4.7-inch HD display, 1.7 GHz Tru-Octacore processor, Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS, dual SIM support and 3G connectivity. Vineet Taneja, CEO, Micromax launched the phone with the IPTL stars Sania Mirza, Ana Ivanovic, Kristina Mladenovic and Daniela Hantuchova.
It has camera-centric features such as Eye Enhancement to eyes bigger & brighter, Face slimming, Skin Smoothening, Teeth Whitening, Remove Oil, option to add makeup effects like mascara, eye-shadow, blush, lip gloss and more.

Just a few weeks back we saw the Vivo X5Max being certified in China and now it looks like the handset is making its way to our shores. Arguably the world's slimmest handset, the phone has a thickness of just 4.75mm. This makes it slimmer than the already wafer thin Gionee S5.1.
Going by the certification information, the handset will not be skimping on the specs despite the razor thin frame. While not confirmed yet, the Android 4.4 running smartphone could be as slim as 3.75mm without the camera bulge. The handset is expected to be equipped with a 5.5 inch Full HD display. Powering it will be a 1.7Ghz octa core Mediatek processor paired with 2GB of RAM. There's also 16GB of storage built in alongside micro SD expansion which will let you push that up to 128GB. In terms of camera capabilities, the phone will have a 13MP rear facing sensor and a 5MP front facing camera. The phone will also pack support for 4G TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA connectivity and dual SIM cards.

Xolo launched the Omega 5.0 smartphone with HIVE UI for Rs. 8,999 yesterday. We already brought you the unboxing and benchmarks of the smartphone, here we have our first hands-on impressions and the photo gallery.
The Omega 5.0 has a 5-inch HD display. The display looks good, but it is glossy and is prone to fingerprints. It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Xolo's own HIVE UI on top. Xolo has promised to update all the HIVE UI smartphone to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) in future. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592M processor.
The Omega 5.0 has curved design. There is a 2-megapixel fixed-focus front-facing camera. There are the usual set of proximity and ambient light sensors next to the camera.
It has capacitive touch buttons below the display that offer haptic feedback when pressed, but these are not backlit.
It has metal rim running on the sides. The power/lock button is present on the right side under the metal rim.

The rollout of the Galaxy Note Edge is fast turning into Samsung's saga of the year as the unique twin of the Galaxy Note 4 could be delayed yet again. We've already seen the handset launch slip with the initial launch rumoured for the middle of November before being pushed back to November 28 and then again to December 12th. The latest information we have comes directly from Samsung's UK online store and suggests the launch may be pushed back a further 5 days with Note Edge shipments set to begin on December 17th.
Gavin Fabiani on Twitter, who also runs tech blog Gavin's Gadgets, got in touch in a reply to an article we wrote on a couple of weeks ago about the launch date being pushed back to December 12th. According to Gavin, he was one of the first to order the handset directly from Samsung's online store - he placed his order as soon as pre-orders opened - and the online order page says his handset won't be despatched until December 17th meaning the earliest Gavin can expect to receive it is December 18th.

Samsung has started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Galaxy S5 devices in South Korea. Galaxy S5 models of Korean mobile carriers SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus are receiving the Lollipop update from December 5th.
Last week, Samsung started Lollipop update to Galaxy S5 models in Poland. The latest update in Korea for the S5 has the build number G900KKTU1BNL2 for all three carriers. Samsung's own TouchWiz interface still remains even after the Lollipop update. Lollipop update brings lockscreen notifications, increased performance thanks to the switch to Android’s new ART runtime, better battery life, improved fingerprint recognition, redesigned Samsung apps, heads-up alerts, multi-user support for phones, Smart Lock, MirrorLink and so on.
HTC and Sony have also started updating their devices with the latest Android 5.0 update. Samsung is expected to bring Lollipop update to Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4 in early 2015.

Microsoft's virtual assistant Cortana has arrived in a few international markets. The virtual digital assistant is now landing in France, Italy, Germany and Spain.
Cortana can be accessed for those on the Windows Phone Developer Preview in France, Italy, Germany and Spain. The virtual assistant will be available in these new places as "alpha" which means that Cortana is new in these countries.
"Cortana will be available through the Windows Phone Developer Preview Program first because we need help from the community to use and speak to Cortana in order to improve the speech and language recognition models for each of the new languages. By working with her, you will help to improve her conversational understanding and also help us improve her intelligence – the breadth of answers she can provide and the categories she’s aware of – so she can truly help you throughout your day."

A few days back we spent the weekend in Edinburgh courtesy of Acer and whilst sampling the Scottish delights that include deep fried Mars Bars and Haggis, we also spent time with some of Acer's new consumer gadgets. We've already taken a closer look at the Acer Liquid Leap, Iconia Tab 8 and the Switch 10 Tablet Hybrid and now we come to the fourth and final device - the Acer Liquid Jade smartphone.
Announced back in June and released a month later, the Liquid Jade is Acer's latest 'flagship' smartphone and comes sporting a large 5 inch 720p HD IPS display. It might not be full resolution but text still looked sharp and alongside a different 5 inch AMOLED display, the Liquid Jade had a cooler colour palette resulting in cleaner whites but with the downside of duller blacks and some washed out colours. The back of the Liquid Jade has a glossy finish and this is one of the areas where we're less than impressed; the handset is simply a fingerprint magnet and despite our best efforts to keep it 'clean', it was always full of fingerprints.

HTC, as promised has started rolling out Lollipop update for One M8 and M7 Google Play Edition (GPE). However, the company is skipping the Android 5.0 and jumping directly to Android 5.0.1.
The LRX22C build is based on Android 5.0.1 and is live as an over the air update. The update weighs around 500MB and should show up as an OTA notification for GPE handset owners. HTC One M7 and One M8 Google Play Edition devices were scheduled to receive approval for the Lollipop update last week. As usual the update is being rolled out in phases and all models will get it before the end of this month.
Google Play Edition devices are usually the next in line after Nexus smartphones and tablets to receive the latest Android OS updates. Samsung and Sony are has rolled out the Lollipop update to selected devices.

Lenovo has launched TAB S8, the company's latest top-end tablet in the S series with voice calling capabilities exclusively on Flipkart. It was announced at the IFA 2014 back in September and packs a 8-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) full HD display based on one-glass-solution technology , powered by a quad-core Intel Atom (Z3745) processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera.
It has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with expansion slot and Dolby-enhanced dual front speakers. We went hands-on with the tablet at the IFA, check out the hands-on video.

Google Translate's upcoming update will add WordLens integration. For those unaware, WordLens is an app which translates visual into texts without a network connection.
Acquired by Google earlier in May this year, WordLens uses smartphone’s camera to translate printed words from one language to another in real time. Currently, WordLens supports the languages like English, Russian, Portuguese, German, Italian, French, and Spanish. The translations can go to or from English, but English has to be one of the languages.
In addition, the Google Translate update will also get auto-detection for conversation mode. With the help of this feature, the app will listen out to conversations held between you and the other person. Users will be able to choose the languages involved in the conversations. Both the updates look promising and will further enhance Google Translate features. It is not known as to when will Google release these update.

Overall, the LG G3 Beat scored a One Charge rating of 6 hours and 51 minutes in our battery test. This is not great considering the large 2540mAh battery and a 5-inch screen.

The Intex Aqua KAT comes in Black and Grey colors and is competitive priced at Rs. 2,999. Looks like this is the cheapest 3G smartphone in the Indian market with a 4-inch display and Android KitKat, making it cheaper than the Intex Aqua 3G that was launched earlier this year.
Micromax launched the Canvas Nitro A310, a mid-range Canvas series smartphone back in September, and we reviewed it soon after the launch. Now the Micromax Canvas Nitro A311 has been listed on the official website. The only difference between the Canvas Nitro 310 and the 311 is the 16GB of internal storage in the A311, compared to 8GB of storage in the A310. Lenovo launched the Vibe X2 smartphone with an unique layered design last month for Rs. 19,999. We brought you the unboxing, photo gallery and the benchmarks of the smartphone recently. Here we have the camera samples from the smartphone. The Vibe X2 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. The camera UI is simple with camera, flash and HDR toggles on the screen. Apart from the normal mode, there is Panorama mode and live Instagram-like effects.

The 5-megapixel front-facing camera is also decent and has face beauty features (sale of 1 to 7), voice, timer, hand sign and Blink image capture options. Both the front and rear cameras can record videos at 1080p full HD resolution at 30fps.

Cyanogen inked an exclusive deal with the popular Indian manufacturer Micromax, a couple of days ago. The terms of the partnership did create some confusion in the minds of the potential OnePlus One buyers in the country.
Back then a press release from Cyanogen said that their mobile operating system will not support any other device expect the Yu branded smartphones in India. The statement came at a time OnePlus launched their device in the sub-continent and this is when things started to get messy.
The global version of the OnePlus One is powered by CyanogenMod OS and if the operating system does not get updates in India, what does that mean? Well, thankfully OnePlus came out and publicly addressed the issue with the announcement of their own build.
Cyanogen had to clear some uncertainties and they did by saying that they will continue to support for global OnePlus One units including the devices in India. Did the confusion end here? Well, the situation only got worse because the statement was vague.

The Honor 6 might cost less than the iPhone 6 but it doesn't mean it features reduced specs; in fact, the display is significantly better than the iPhone 6 and offers Full HD resolution on a panel measuring 5 inches compared to the 4.7 inch 750p HD panel on the iPhone 6. The Honor 6 uses IPS LCD technology compared to the Retina Display on the iPhone 6 and in real-world usage, the 326 pixels per inch density offered by the iPhone 6 pales to the Honor 6 which at 445 ppi is significantly more vibrant and immersive. When the Google Nexus 6 was announced back in October, it probably featured on many users' wishlists but a much delayed launch and some confusion around pricing and date has likely affected this. The Nexus 6 has only just gone on sale in the UK - thanks to O2 - and over the weekend, I had a chance to have a very brief hands on with Google's new smartphone.
The unit in question was a retail model of the Nexus 6 in Black and as soon as you open the box, the size of the handset strikes you. At 83 mm wide and 159.3 mm tall, the Nexus 6 is definitely big. Google have clearly tried to keep the size as small as possible - the 78.75% screen to body ratio is testament to this - but it's still a substantially large device. As a Galaxy Note 4 user, I'm used to a larger phone but the Nexus 6 feels almost too big.

Google is finally bringing the Chromecast device to Indian markets officially. According to a report, the popular HDMI media streaming dongle that lets you stream videos and more on a TV will be available in India via Snapdeal.
The report is stating that Google Chromecast will be officially launched in India during the Google Online Shopping Festival that will start from December 10. At the moment there is no word on the pricing of the device. Currently Chromecast is available on Flipkart and eBay for Rs 3,499 and Rs 2,850 respectively. The device is priced between $30-$35 in the US which translates to Rs 1,856 - Rs 2,165 in India.
At the time of writing this article the Chromecast was not listed on Snapdeal. Google had launched Chromecast in the US in 2013 and it works with Netflix, YouTube, Google Play Movies & TV, and Google Play Music and more. It has HDMI out and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n support to connect to your devices. You need a Wi-Fi enabled device and HDTV to use Chromecast and a Wi-Fi router.
