Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S View Flip Cover – One key design change

$

The Galaxy Note range arguably led to the creation of two of Samsung’s product lines - handsets with large displays and the rather unique S View cover and the latter has since been extended to Samsung’s other flagship handsets. With the introduction of this year’s Galaxy Note 4, Samsung has tweaked the design of the Galaxy Note 4 S View cover but there’s a very good reason for this. One design ‘flaw’ that’s been common to the entire S View range has been the tendency of the flip cover to open as there was nothing keeping it in place. With this flaw, products such as the Spigen Magentic Clip were born and with the flip remaining open, it often rendered the case redundant as it wouldn't protect your display from dust, dirt and accidental cosmetic damage (such as scratch marks, blemishes etc). Samsung seems to have been listening as it’s new cover is weighted to close the flip when it’s not in use. The front of the cover has a couple of indentations and shows where the weighting appears to be (between the indentations and at the bottom) - the result is that instead of the flip remaining open, it smoothly (but ...

Qualcomm has teased that it will announce a Snapdragon 800 powered smartphone at CES 2015. The company gave a first look of the device via its official Twitter account. However, the teased image does not give away much and only shows the Snapdragon chip and rear buttons of a smartphone that resembles a LG device. Hence, it is speculated that as the volume buttons are at the back this might be a smartphone from LG. If this turns out to be a LG device, then the company will have more than one phone announced at CES. LG is also expected to unveil the G Flex 2 at the event. A range of new smartphones from Asus, HTC and Sony are expected to announced at CES 2015. via

Apple is offering a 14-day, no-questions-asked return policy for all content purchased through iTunes, according to 9to5Mac. The latest offer is only available in certain cities of Europe. The new policy applies to all items purchased through the App Store, iTunes, and iBookstore in the U.K., Germany, Italy, and France. To receive a refund, buyers can either use Apple's online "Report a Problem" tool or send a physical cancellation form to the company's European headquarters in Luxembourg. Apple will process the refund in two weeks’ time after it receives the cancellation notice from the customer. Prior to this, Apple’s policy on returns was that customers could return without charge and without giving any reason until delivery of the product has started. Apple’s new policy does not cover gift cards or gifts on iTunes and hence cannot be returned. This new refund policy also appears to be part of a new consumer rights directive in the EU. Google still has not added a 14-day return policy for apps and other purchases to the EU incarnation of its Play Store, said the report. via

Having launched in the USA earlier this year, Apple Pay is set to roll out across international markets from early next year. According to The Telegraph, the Cupertino-based giant is in talks with UK banks to bring Apple Pay to the UK early next year. According to their sources, the negotiations are proving difficult as their are concerns over which information the company will be able to access. The unnamed bank - which is one of the biggest banks in the UK - is understood to be uncomfortable with amount of personal and financial information Apple wants to collect and store about its customers. The sources also claim that executives fear that the amount of information Apple will hold could lead to an expansion into the banking industry. Apple Pay was launched alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and takes advantage of the new NFC-based chip in the handsets. The feature means the iPhone range finally offers mobile payments and initial feedback from the USA suggests that the service could be the answer to the UK banking industry's attempts to persuade customers to pay with their mobile device. Apple Pay certainly isn't a new feature as NFC-based payments have been present ...

3 ways to customise your Smartphone’s colour

Most modern smartphones are available in a range of colours to suit various needs but often the place you buy from can determine which colour options you have. Take the Galaxy Note 4 as an example - it’s available in four colours but most UK networks are only stocking the Black version so if you’re looking for another colour, you’ll either need to buy it from elsewhere or customise your smartphone using these solutions. 1. A replacement back cover Whilst many people use a case to protect their smartphone, there’s also those who prefer to keep their handset natural (i.e. as the manufacturer designed it). When using a case, you can find a range of multi-colour cases but if you prefer to keep your smartphone free of a case, a replacement back cover is an easy way to customise the colour of your smartphone (if you have a removable back cover). We've got the Black Galaxy Note 4 as it was the only one available at the time but to change the colour, we've also got the Gold Note 4 back cover. The standard gold Note 4 has a black front fascia with a small gold trim and replacing the back cover makes ...

The Galaxy Note 4 has one of the best displays on the market but none of Samsung’s official accessories come with the option to prop the handset up so you can enjoy media on the 5.6 inch Quad HD 2k display. This is where third-party manufacturers like Spigen come in and offer a case that is both stylish in design and impressive in its protection. The Spigen Slim Armor Galaxy Note 4 Kickstand Case is available in a range of colours (including metal slate, champagne gold and electric red) to suit all tastes. There’s a hard polycarbonate shell - which is blue as we've got the blue case - which wraps around the soft hybrid TPU interior which uses AirCushion technology to protect your large Galaxy Note 4. The hybrid combination features improved shock absorption on the top, bottom and corners to protect against external impacts and the TPU interior can be removed from the poly carbonate exterior allowing your to change the coloured hard shell when you fancy a change. The TPU exterior houses the kickstand feature which has worked really well in past Spigen cases. In this particular instance, it is a little flimsy and whilst it does just about ...
