Huawei Honor 6 Plus now available for purchase globally for $399

Huawei's new Honor 6 is recognised as one of the best value-for-money devices on the market and this was followed by the Honor 6 Plus, a larger version of the handset catering for phablet demand in Asia. A few weeks ago we reported the Honor 6 Plus wouldn't be coming to Europe but it is now available to buy globally for $399. Sporting a 5.5 inch Full HD 1080p display, the Honor 6 Plus is powered by Huawei's own octa-core Kirin 925 processor with 3GB RAM and a Mali T628 MP4 GPU. Under the hood is 16GB/32GB internal storage (which can be expanded by up to 128GB using a microSD card) along with a 3600mAh battery. LG CES 2015 teaser confirms G Flex 2

LG Electronics just released its CES 2015 teaser video that reveals several products, including its most expected LG G Flex successor with a curved screen. Looks like reports about the G Flex 2 announcement at CES 2015 were true. It is rumored to feature a 1080p display, compared to 720p display on the first G Flex smartphone. Other specifications of the smartphone are not available yet. LG would also showcase 21:9 Ultra wide gaming monitor, 4K Ultra HD LCD TVs, Quantum Dot 4K Ultra HD TVs, Double Door-in-Door Mega-Capacity refrigerators,  high-capacity Washing Machines and more. BlackBerry may have been through the wringer over the past twelve months but the company is still going strong and their latest handset, the BlackBerry Classic, is now in-stock and available to buy in both the UK and United Arab Emirates. We've previously heard that ShopBlackBerry will have the handset in-stock and available to ship in mid-January in the UK but if you don't want to wait that long, Selfridges have the BlackBerry Classic available to buy right now for £329.99 SIM free and unlocked. Better still, if you're based in a country where the handset isn't likely to launch, Selfridges will deliver it internationally for £15 (if you're within Europe) or £25 (if you're outside Europe). If you're located within the United Arab Emirates, you can also get your hands on the BlackBerry Classic from other than the official BlackBerry store in Dubai Mall. Acer Liquid Z410 budget 4G smartphone with 64-bit SoC announced

Acer has announced Liquid Z410, the company's latest budget 4G smartphone ahead of CES 2015. It has a 4.5-inch qHD screen, is powered by a 64-bit SoC with Mali-760 GPU (MediaTek MT6752 likely) and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with 80-degree wide-angle lens. It has front-facing speaker and DTS digital audio support for enhanced audio output. It has Acer's signature AcerRAPID key that allows users to access a range of customizable actions with single touch. The AcerEXTEND feature enables users to take full control of their smartphones via cable or wirelessly using their Windows-based PC, typing with their keyboard, using drag and drop and rich sharing. No details about the battery yet, but it promises up to 5.5 hours of talk-time and up to 400 hours in standby. Other specifications such as RAM and internal storage are not available yet. The Acer Liquid Z410 starts at 129 Euros ( US$ 155 / Rs. 9,790 approx.) and goes on sale  from February end in EMEA regions.

Xiaomi has announced the Redmi 2 4G smartphone in China as expected. It has the same 4.7-inch HD screen present in Redmi and Redmi 1S, but this is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64-bit SoC and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with MIUI 6 on top. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has Dual SIM support with 4G LTE  (TDD-LTE (B38/B39/B40 /B41), FDD-LTE (B3 / B7) on both the SIM cards. It also comes in separate China Unicom and China Telecom variants with support for suitable bands. Xiaomi sold 61.1 million smartphones in 2014, revenues up 135%

Xiaomi today announced that it sold 61.12 million smartphones in 2014 and has exceeded its 60 million target. This is a 227% increase compared to its sales the previous year. It sold 26.1 million smartphones in first half of 2014. It has posted revenue of RMB 74.3 billion yuan (US$12 billion approx.) including taxes, an increase of 135% compared to 2013. It raised US$1.1 billion in the latest funding and the company is now valued at US$45 billion, making it the world’s most valuable private tech startup. Lei Jun already announced that Xiaomi aims to sell 100 million devices in 2015. Today the company announced its Redmi 2 smartphone in China, which will go on sale later this month. It already promised to unveil its next flagship smartphone at an event later this month. Today it said that the event will happen on 15th January. Xiaomi has invested in more than 20 hardware companies, including home appliances giant Midea group. Motorola's budget Moto G handset was one of the best value-for-money devices when it was announced back at the end of 2013 but came without support for the next-generation 4G LTE network. The Moto G 4G was announced six months later with some feature upgrades and this handset is now available in the UK from network Three. Three are offering the Motorola Moto G 4G on contract with a variety of plans available starting at just £16 per month. This plan gives you 300 minutes and 500 MB 4G data each month but other plans available include those with more data or more minutes each month and the top plan costs £32 per month with All-you-can-eat data and All-you-can-eat minutes each month. All of Three's plans come with unlimited text messages and free 0800, 0808 and 0500 calls and have a minimum 24 month contract. Acer Chromebook 15 with Broadwell Processor announced for $249.99

Acer has announced world's largest Chromebook with 15.6 HD display ahead of CES 2015. Dubbed as Chromebook 15, it will be available in two display resolutions -  1920x1080 pixels and 1366x768 pixels. The Chromebook 15 will also feature Intel's new fifth-generation Core i3 or Celeron processor. Acer says these new Broadwell-based chips will allow the laptop to reach 8 hours of battery life on a single charge. Storage options range from 2GB or 4GB of RAM or either a 16GB or 32GB SSD. The Chromebook weighs 4.85 pounds and measures 15.4 x 10.08 x 0.95 inches. It has the largest touchpad available on any Chromebook device. Other features of the Chromebook 15 are dual-band, MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. As for hard connections, this model offers one USB 3 and USB 2 port each, along with HDMI and an SD card reader. The Acer Chromebook 15 will be available in several configurations in the U.S. and price start at $249.99. In addition, Acer has also updated its current Chromebook 13 with touch screen. Samsung has been rumored to be working on the Galaxy S6 for quiet some time . A new report is now stating that the company will give a first look of the device at the upcoming CES 2015. According to the report, Samsung will showcase the phone only to selected partners and not the consumers at CES 2015. The company is even expected to show the Galaxy S6 variant at the event. Some rumors speculate that the Galaxy S6 variant Samsung is working on is the Galaxy S6 Edge. Asus hints at optical zoom for new phone in a video teaser

We know that Asus is going to announce next iteration of Zenfone at the CES 2015. The company  has released a video teaser giving out more details about the upcoming announcement. The video teaser which uses Morse code to delivery a "secret" message is deployed, with ASUS asking viewers to solve the message. Lenovo launched the S580 smartphone last month exclusively on Snapdeal for Rs. 8,999. We already brought you the unboxing and photo gallery of the smartphone recently, here we have the benchmarks. Dell introduced Venue 8 7840 tablet, world's thinnest tablet at just 6mm thickness, back in September last year. Now the tablet is available for purchase in the US from BestBuy. As we already know, the tablet has a  8.4-inch (2560 x 1600 pixel) OLED display, is powered by a 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor with PowerVR G6430 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Microsoft Devices today announced Nokia 215 and 215 Dual SIM, the company’s most affordable internet-enabled handsets. The Nokia 215 and the 215 Dual SIM have a 2.8-inch (320 x 240 pixels) QVGA LCD screen, Opera Mini browser, built-in MP3 player, FM Radio, 2G (EDGE), Bluetooth 3.0 with Slam sharing feature and a VGA rear camera without flash and a built-in torchlight. We already brought you the hands on impressions from the launch event and unboxing few days back. Here we have the hardware walk through of the smartphone in the form of photo gallery. The 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display is bright. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection as well. The phone has huge bezels around the display, so it's slightly bigger than smartphones like OnePlus One. It is powered by a Octa-Core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) SoC. It runs on Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android 4.4.4 (Kitkat). YU has promised to offer OTA updates every month and update the smartphone to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) soon. It has a 5-megapixel camera on the front with OmniVision 5648 sensor, 4P lenses and offers 71-degree wide viewing angle. Indian smartphone market is flooded with budget smartphones in low-mid range segment. Smartphones that belong to this segment are compact, offer a small screen less than 4.5-inches, and offer specifications usually seen in mid-range smartphones that are priced over Rs. 10,000. We recently compared the Obi Alligator S454 with the Lava Iris X1, here we have a comparison between the Obi Alligator S454 and Micromax Canvas Fire A104. It's not the HTC One M9 that everyone was expecting but as expected, HTC have expanded their Desire range with the entry-level Desire 320. The successor to the Desire 310, the Desire 320 aims to pick up where it's predecessor left off and offer HTC's Android experience at a low price point and will be available in the UK and Germany. The Desire 320 is a non-LTE handset powered by a quad-core Mediatek processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS and HTC's Sense UI. It has 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage along with a microSD card which can expand this by up to 32GB. The Desire 320 has a 2100 mAh battery and will be available in both white and grey. It's coming to the UK (possibly with O2 UK) and will also be stocked by O2 Germany. LG G Flex 2 with 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor goes official

LG has officially unveiled its second generation Flex smartphone at its dedicated Consumer Electronics Show press conference in Las Vegas. LG G Flex 2 is the first smartphone to feature the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with octa-core 2.0GHz CPU under the hood. Apart from spectacular hardware configuration, the device comes with the combination of G3’s practical design and original G Flex’s dynamic curves. Just like the first generation G Flex its successor also sports a self-healing back panel. While the original model came out with a 6-inch 720p panel, the G Flex 2 has a much smaller 5.5-inch display, but its resolution has been bumped to 1080p. LG has used its plastic OLED screen, which is similar to the one on the G Watch R. There is a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches and minor sniffs. LG G Flex 2 measures 149.1 x 75.3 x 7.1 – 9.44mm (at the thinnest and thickest spots respectively). Google Cast for audio lets you push audio from mobile device to speakers

Google today introduced Google Cast for audio. The audio streaming service enables users to wirelessly control and send the music playing on your iOS, Android device or Chrome browser right to new Google Cast-enabled audio speakers. The Google Cast for audio can stream music or audio from a selection of apps including Rdio, Pandora, NPR One, Google Play Music, and others to Google Cast-ready speakers, sound bars, and receivers. The service will work similar to Google's Chromecast streaming stick and users will have to simply tap the “cast” button in an app on Android, iOS, or the web, and select a Google Cast-supported device. As for hardware, Google said the first speakers to support Google Cast for audio will be available from LG, HEOS by Denon, Sony and others this spring in the US. Google's current service looks like a take on Apple's Airplay which also enables streaming of audio to AirPlay-enabled speakers.
