Samsung just launched the new Sunrise Gold color variant of the Galaxy S9 smartphone that joins the Midnight Black, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple versions that were launched earlier this year. Samsung has also announced a TV Control widget, which offers a one-of-its-kind unified convergence solution between mobiles and televisions.
Once enabled through Smart Things app, when a user is in the vicinity of a television, the TV Control widget will automatically show up on their phone and allow two-way screen mirroring and sound mirroring.
With the ‘View Screen’ mode in the widget, consumers can carry their television entertainment as they move across rooms by using the ‘TV to device’ option. Consumers can also enjoy mobile games on a big screen by mirroring their mobile screen on to their television using the ‘Device to TV’ option.

Since the in-pouring of Chinese smartphones in the Indian market, it has become difficult for the handset makers like Samsung, HTC and LG to make a dent in the mid-range smartphone segment. Keeping the optimism alive within themselves, the South Korean giant continues to launch the smartphones under mid-range with mediocre specifications.
In an attempt to restore their lost glory in the sub 15k segment, Samsung has come up with Galaxy J6 at starting price of Rs. Rs. 13,990. We got hold of the 3GB RAM variant unit for our review. Has Samsung managed to pull it off with the J6? Let's check it out.

OPPO is all set to introduce its flagship Find X smartphone on June 19th at an event in Paris. Google today is rolling out a new update to its Gmail app for iOS. This new update brings changes to the way the app pushes out notifications. When you receive important emails in your Gmail inbox, the app identifies which mail will need your attention.
Google will leverage on its Gmail’s machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities to identify messages you may want to read first. To enable the feature, select “High priority only” from the Notifications drop-down in the settings menu of your Gmail iOS app. However, the feature is currently only available on iOS but will be coming to Android pretty soon. Since this is not a 'by default' feature, you will have to enable the setting from the drop-down menu.
Google also said that this feature would be available to every iOS user in the coming two days, so if you haven't received the update yet, you will.

Apple post the release of iPhone X faced criticism from a section of users for its price tag. Following the backslash, Apple said to be developing production plans for its next iPhones stressing cheaper liquid-crystal display based on the consumers’ sensitivity to the price of smartphones, according to a latest report from WSJ.
Apple is hoping that the LCD models would make up for the majority of the iPhone sales that would be releasing this fall. It is rumored for quite some time that Apple is prepping a low-cost 6.1-inch iPhone model for price-sensitive markets. But the new interesting thing is, Apple is, in fact, preparing a larger portion of the models than analysts had anticipated. Interestingly, Apple is said to use the displays next year as well, according to sources involved in the matter.
Production planning suggests that the transition to OLED panels is likely to be slower than many in the industry believed a year ago, and according to analysts, the iPhone X with OLED display demand was weaker than their initial forecasts and is mainly due to its price tag at $999. Apple's top-selling models still pack LCD panels which include the iPhone 7, iPhone 8 starting at $699, and the 8 Plus ...

Samsung is already making its own Exyons SoCs for its smartphones that are sold outside the U.S. however these CPUs ARM Mali GPUs. Now a job listing for Samsung SARC, its R&D center in Austin, Texas and ACL (Advanced Computing Lab) in San Jose reveals that Samsung is looking to make its own GPUs, starting from its budget phones, but it also plans to develop GPUs for autonomous driving, deep and machine learning.
The company's own GPUs will be self-designed, including architecture, software, ISA etc. Other from Qualcomm, SoC manufacturers including MediaTek, Huawei, Spreadrum and others use either ARM's Mali or Imagination Technologies' PowerVR GPUs for their processors. Samsung could eventually make its own GPUs for its high-end Exynos SoCs to compete with Apple.
The listing for GPU engineer says:
Our flagship GPUs will populate lower tier mobile devices while nextgen GPUs embrace evolving markets like autonomous driving and the power of machine/deep learning computations. This is Samsung’s proprietary IP. We will define the ISA, the architecture, the SW, the entire solution. Not many companies can claim this - We can.

Apple is expected to launch three iPhones later this year; a low-cost 6.1-inch iPhone, iPhone X second generation, and iPhone X Plus with a 6.5-inch screen. Apple iPhone X Plus and 6.1-inch entry-level iPhone schematics surfaced last week, and today we have a brand new hands-on video with dummy units of what appears to be the final design of the upcoming apps.
The‘final design’ schematics have been floating through the Asian supply chain over the last week, allowing for detailed 3D mockups to be created. The 5.8-inch iPhone X 2018 schematics measure 143.65 mm by 72.03 mm by 7.69 mm thick. This means that the upcoming iPhone X 2018 will be 1.1 mm wider. As for the 6.4-inch OLED iPhone, the schematics indicate dimensions of 157.53mm by 77.44 mm by 7.85 mm thick. It can be comparable to the iPhone 8 Plus which is about 1mm shorter and 1mm wider.
This makes sense as the OLED model would adopt the same narrower aspect ratio as the current iPhone X. The 6.4-inch iPhone is 0.35 mm thicker and the report also states that the 6.4-inch iPhone X Plus will likely feature the same camera technology as the current iPhone X, with the TrueDepth sensor measuring in at ...
Starting iOS 12, iPhone users in the U.S. will be able to automatically and securely share their location data with first responders. This provides faster and more accurate information to help reduce emergency response times. Since more than 80% of 911 calls, today come from mobile devices, this move is indeed smart.
Since landline-era infrastructure is outdated for 911 centers to quickly and accurately obtain a mobile caller’s location, Apple launched HELO (Hybridized Emergency Location) in 2015, which estimates a mobile 911 caller’s location using cell towers and on-device data sources like GPS and WiFi Access Points. Today it announced that it would also use emergency technology company RapidSOS’s Internet Protocol-based data pipeline to quickly and securely share HELO location data with 911 centers, improving response time during an emergency.
The RapidSOS’s system will deliver the emergency location data of iOS users by integrating with many 911 centers’ existing software, which relies on industry-standard protocols. The company is also focusing on privacy, user data cannot be used for any non-emergency purpose, and only the responding 911 center will have access to the user’s location during an emergency call.
The FCC requires carriers to locate callers to within 50 meters at least 80% of ...

Google is planning on fixing a bug on Chromecast TV streaming stick and Home that reveals user’s location. This bug lets a website collect precise user location data, according to a report from security reporter Brian Krebs. This bug exploits a loophole in Google’s systems to cross-check a list of nearby wireless networks with Google’s precise geolocation look-up services.
By using the location gained by the nearby Wi-Fi networks through a Google Home or Chromecast, malicious websites can triangulate a user’s location. Since these devices barely need any authentication from third parties to receive data on local networks, they exploit the generous permissions to collect any sensitive data.
It is common for Web sites to keep a record of the numeric Internet Protocol (IP) address of all visitors, and these addresses can be used in combination with online geolocation to glean information about each visitor’s hometown or region. However, this type of location information is often quite imprecise. This is typically not the case with Google’s geolocation data, which includes comprehensive maps of wireless network names around the world, linking each individual Wi-Fi network to a corresponding physical location.
This gives Google an advantage to determine a user’s location to within a few feet by triangulating the user between several nearby mapped Wi-Fi ...
