Apple may discontinue iPhone X and iPhone SE to focus on 2018 iPhones

As we inch closer to the launch of new iPhones in the coming weeks, speculation surrounding the launch is already catching. According to a new research from BlueFin Research, Apple might discontinue the iPhone SE and iPhone X this year as focus shifts towards the “iPhone 9, iPhone 11, and iPhone 11 Plus. Furthermore, BlueFin analysts predict that this year's iPhones might have huge-demand considering the lack of upgrade activity over the past few years. Apple will likely order to manufacture 91 million units of its new 2018 iPhones during the latter two quarters of this year. Furthermore, it will ramp up the 91 million and go for another 92 million units for the first two quarters of 2019. As for shipments, analysts expect a 20 million, 60 million, 45 million and 40 million over the four quarters once the sales start. The iPhone 11 Plus will be the best seller who found the iPhone X too small and the iPhone 9 will carter price-sensitive markets. Google Pay update brings the ability to pay friends, save tickets and more

Google Pay is getting a new update bringing features like the ability to pay friends, save tickets, manage information in one place. Google is now combining the Google Pay and Google Pay Send apps. Now, you can send or request money right from the Google Pay app. Google Pay lets you send or receive money if you live in the U.S. and it also lets you split the bill. Just tap on a recent purchase and instantly request money from up to five people. You can also save your concert tickets and boarding passes and once the tickets are saved, you’ll find them with your loyalty cards, gift cards, and offers in the new Passes tab. Now it is also easy to manage your payment info in the app or on the web at pay.google.com, everything is synced with your Google Account. Nokia and China Mobile sign 1 billion euro frame agreement for future-oriented network infrastructure

Nokia and China Mobile today announced that they have signed a one-year frame agreement that is being valued at up to EUR 1 billion. This agreement will support the Chinese mobile operators to a future-oriented network infrastructure and provide seamless connectivity to more efficiently growing data traffic demand. Nokia, Under the agreement, will provide China Mobile with end-to-end technology solutions to enable next-generation cloud and machine communications. It will also provide additional elements of its mobile radio access and core portfolio in addition to fixed access, IP routing and optical transport, customer experience management, as well as its services. Both the companies will nor work together to bring out more products and services that will enable the operator to explore new opportunities in vertical markets. They have also signed a memorandum of understanding for research and testing of the artificial intelligence (AI) and machine-learning capabilities of next-generation networks. Update: AgileBits, developer of 1Password has dismissed the rumor  saying that the company is happily independent and plan to remain so. Rumours of my acquisition are completely false. According to a new report, Apple is planning to deploy 1Password internally to all 123,000 employees in the next two month, and 100 Apple employees will start using 1Password starting this week. The report adds that Apple will offer family plans, giving up to 5 family members of each employee a free license for 1Password.  The report doesn't say how much Apple has paid for the deal, however it says that AgileBits started paying out large bonuses after this deal with Apple was signed. According to the report, Apple is also looking to acquire the company in future, and if happens, the company might integrate the features of 1Password into the iOS, similar to what it has done with earlier iOS acquisition Workflow and the new Shortcuts app. Source

Apple names John Giannandrea as its first Chief of Machine Learning and AI strategy

Apple today has announced that it is naming John Giannandrea as its first Chief of Machine Learning and AI strategy. John Giannandrea joined Apple back in April, he was making contributions at Google since 2010 including AI related products like Google Assistant, Gmail, Google Search’s Knowledge Graph, and more. The company is also heard grouping some machine learning teams to see further improvements to Siri and more. The regrouped artificial intelligence/machine learning teams will be overseen by Giannandrea in his new Chief of Machine Learning and AI Strategy role. Before, Google Johnco-founded two technology companies, Tellme Networks, and Metaweb Technologies. Apple is also overhauling Maps from the ground up and for this, the company is said to be using first-party data gathered by iPhones with a privacy-first methodology and its own fleet of cars packed with sensors and cameras. Gboard V7.4 hints at floating keyboard, Minis selfie stickers, spell check and more

Google's Gboard application is getting a new update which brings features like spell check, a mini mode for the morse code keyboard, and an adaptive icon. Though few of them are already available, few are still disabled. As for the stuff that is lying beneath, there are hints at the development of Minis; Allo type Selfie Stickers, a floating keyboard, more Make GIF effects, and more.  The new Spell check feature will now underline misspellings in red, but this feature can be turned off. However, the feature still might be having some glitch, as it is not enabled by default. Since the setting does exist, we hope it will be fixed soon. Google at the I/O 2018 introduced the Morse Code keyboard and now the company is bringing a mini Morse keyboard so you can reclaim some of the screen sizes.  To enable the mini keyboard, you can open the language settings and tap on the morse code keyboard, and there you will find the toggle to turn it off/on. Itel expected to launch new smartphone with full-screen display, dual rear cameras this month

Itel is said to launch a new smartphone in India later this month with dual rear camera and 18:9 aspect ratio display. The image reveals a fingerprint sensor on the back. The company launched the itel S42 and itel A44 smartphones with a full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio back in March this year. The smartphone which is said to be called the Itel A62, is expected to come with face unlock feature as well as Bokeh mode to capture portrait shots. It is expected to feature a 5.6-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio, powered by 1.3GHz processor, run Android 8.1 (Oreo) and a 3,000mAh battery. It is said to be priced around Rs. 7500. The specifications look decent on paper, but we have to check out the phone to know more about the performance and camera quality. We should know more details about the smartphone when it goes official in the next two weeks.

Xiaomi is amongst the manufacturers which allow users to switch between different MIUI ROMs without worrying much about the warranty, users can upgrade/downgrade MIUI ROMs on their devices using Fastboot and Updater method. At Google I/O, Google announced rollback protection feature, and now Xiaomi has announced that it will no longer allow Redmi Note 5 Pro/ Redmi Note 5 users to downgrade MIUI Stable and Beta ROM after you have updated to MIUI 10 Public ROM 8.7.5 or later. A post by an admin on MIUI Forum says, To maintain system stability and ensure the security of the device, we have introduced a mechanism of anti-rollback. After you have updated to MIUI 10 Public ROM 8.7.5 or ROM afterwards, you can not downgrade your ROM to previous Stable ROM and Beta ROM.  If you have already updated your device to MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.7.5 or ROM afterwards, please don't try to downgrade the ROM of your device. Otherwise, your device will be bricked, which may also affect your device stability. Xiaomi just sent out invites for the announcement of its Mi Max 3 smartphone in China on July 19th. The company said that it will have a large screen and a huge battery. It was teased by the company's CEO last week. Xiaomi schedules global launch event in Spain on July 24, Mi A2 Android One smartphone expected

After launching the global Mi Explorer program to offer its fans a chance to travel to Spain, Xiaomi has officially scheduled its global launch event in Spain, Madrid on July 24, where it is expected to introduce the Mi A2, the global version of the Mi 6X which was introduced  back in April. According to a recently-leaked video, which was removed later, the phone is said to have similar specifications as the Mi 6X, but will come with a 3.5mm audio jack. However it is not clear if the smartphone will feature a microSD card slot which the Mi 6X doesn't have. Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities is back with yet another new investor's note and this time according to the analyst, Apple is said to be working on launching 11-inch iPad Pro, refreshed Mac mini, Apple watch with large display, Airpower in fall. The newly updated portfolio will join the three iPhone models; 5.8″ OLED model, a new 6.5″ OLED model, and a new 6.1″ LCD variant.  The updated iPad Pro model will come with Face ID, no home button and Apple seems to be working on two variants; one with 11 and 12.9-inch displays with a full-screen design similar to the iPhone X. Though Kuo didn't say much about the Mac mini update, he said that there will be a processor upgrade and this is coming three and a half years since the last Mac mini update. It is also unclear if the Mac mini would see a design change. Both the MacBook and MacBook Pro will see processor upgrades and it is already known that Apple is working on a new low-priced notebook.
