Apple has kick started the 'Gather Around' event with Apple Watch Series 4 announcement. The new Apple Watch Series 4 packs a stunning new display with an edge-to-edge curved display to perfectly match the shape of the watch. The company says that the screen is over 30% larger than the predecessor.  The U.I has been tweaked to take advantage of the larger screen. It lets users add contacts to watchface for one-tap access to them and has redesigned the modular face providing more information from stocks, heart rate, activity. Apple just announced iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, the company's latest flagship smartphones at an event, as expected. The new iPhones have 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch 458PPI  Super Retina HDR displays with support for Dolby Vision and HDR 10, as well as 120Hz touch-sensing. Both these have Face ID for unlocking. Apple is also introducing Dual SIM support with dual standby via eSIM that is already available on iPad worldwide for the first time. The company is tying up with operators for this. However, China will get support for Dual physical SIMs. These are powered by new Apple A12 Bionic chip based on 7nm platform, first in the industry, before the Huawei's Kirin 980 next month. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available in 64GB, 256GB and 512GB capacity models in space grey, silver and a new gold finish starting at Rs. 99,900 (MRP) and Rs. 109,900 (MRP), respectively, through Apple Authorised Resellers starting from September 21st. We should know the price of all the variants shortly. In India the company has announced price cuts for iPhone 6s series and iPhone X as well, in addition to iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 series. This price cut comes after a price hike after increase in import duty back in February this year. The iPhone 7 Plus 32GB has received Rs. 12940 or 20.5% price cut, while it is just 1.8% or Rs. 2030 price cut for the iPhone X 256GB. Apple is adding new features to HomePod including the ability to search by lyrics, set multiple timers, make and receive phone calls and more. It is also bringing support for Spanish in the US, Spain, and Mexico, and expands support in Canada with Canadian French. The update also brings the popular Apple Watch feature; Find my iPhone, so users can ping any of their nearby devices to find them. With iOS 12, Apple introduced Siri Shortcuts where Siri learns user routines and suggests ‘shortcuts’ on iPhone and iPad. Now, these shortcuts are accessible on HomePod. Samsung Electronics and Google have announced that they are working together to offer global Rich Communication Services (RCS) coverage and interoperability. This will enable features like the ability to chat over Wi-Fi, create rich group chats, see typing indicators and read receipts, and share high-resolution photos and videos across platforms. Both the companies will work together to ensure that their messaging clients, Android Messages and Samsung Messages, work seamlessly with each company’s RCS technology, including cloud and business messaging platforms. As part of the collaboration, Samsung will work to bring these RCS features to existing mobile phones* beginning with the Galaxy S8 and S8+. However, upcoming Samsung Galaxy smartphones will also natively support RCS messaging, starting with those on a set of carriers that have or will soon launch RCS.
