The OnePlus 6T has been scheduled to arrive in a couple of weeks time, following up on the OnePlus 6, which was released in May. As the name suggests, the OnePlus 6T is an incremental update over one of the best smartphones of 2018, the OnePlus 6.
Hence what do we get in this 6th generation 'T' edition smartphone? Before talking in-depth, the new upgrades include a water-drop notch, in-display fingerprint scanner, a.k.a. Screen Unlock, Android 9.0 Pie out of the box, bigger battery and of course, several launch offers.
With that being said, the mid-cycle refresh of OnePlus 6 seems to have some jaw-dropping features to justify its existence in this brief amount of time as well. In this article, we have listed out 5 things we can't wait for in the upcoming OnePlus 6T.
Water-drop notch
Unlike OnePlus 6 with a big notch, the OnePlus 6T is expected to come with a trending water-drop notch in a bid to give more real estate on the display. In OnePlus 6T, the notch is really small and shaped like a water droplet wrapping around the front camera. While the regular notch had an earpiece, front camera and sensors, the functionality of the water drop notch remain foggy at present mainly due to its size.
Screen Unlock
A few days back OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau confirmed the In-display Fingerprint scanner, a.k.a. Screen Unlock through a forum post on OnePlus Forums. He also added Screen Unlock consolidates a collection of software processes and hardware components, tuned in such a way to work optimally on the OnePlus 6T. Having said that, the Screen Unlock feature will recognise fingerprint with higher accuracy through extended usage. Furthermore, the company has ditched the 3.5mm audio jack as well. As stated by Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, removing the headphone jack has freed up more space, allowing them to put more new technology into the product.
Bigger battery
Some rumours and leaks across the Internet so far have been pointing towards the OnePlus 6T equipping a bigger 3700mAh battery for the first time in OnePlus history. Notably, the OnePlus 6T battery is 10% bigger than its predecessor and will be also having OnePlus’ proprietary Dash Charging technology.

Android 9.0 Pie brings new gesture navigation that replaces three software nav buttons. This new gesture-based navigation requires you to swipe back and forth between apps and menus. This new navigation method is optional on the Pixel and Pixel 2, but Google has confirmed that it is default on the Pixel 3.
The new gesture-based navigation system cannot be disabled or swapped either. Google on Twitter said that "Pixel 3 introduces a new pattern that will represent navigation on all Android phones going forward, the tweet said. "While change & adapting to new patterns is hard, we believe it's a better navigation pattern & makes app switching a faster experience."

However, this doesn't come as a surprise especially since it is enabled by default on the new phones with Pie. So, if you were hoping on using the classic nav buttons on your Pixel 3, this might be a bit disappointing.
Alphabet unit Google has challenged the fine imposed by the European Union antitrust regulators in July. The commission has fined Google a record 4.34-billion euro (£3.8 billion) for imposing illegal restrictions on Android device manufacturers and mobile networks to cement its dominant position in general internet search.
Google in a statement said that “We have now filed our appeal of the EC’s Android decision at the General Court of the EU.” The company had previously said it would take the case to Europe’s second highest court in Luxembourg. As for the European Commission, in its July decision said that Google had abused its market dominance since 2011.
It further said that Google imposed conditions that manufacturers have to pre-install the Google Search app and browser app (Chrome) as a condition for licensing Google’s PlayStore. Google said to have made payments to certain manufacturers and mobile network operators on condition that they exclusively use the Google Search app on their devices.
Since it is a complex case, it could take several years before judges rule on it. A final appeal is possible at Europe’s top court, the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Dialog Semiconductor plc has announced an agreement with Apple Inc. to license certain of its power management technologies, transfer certain of its assets and over 300 employees to Apple to support chip research and development.
Apple will pay $300 million in cash for the transaction and prepay $300 million for Dialog products to be delivered over the next three years. The company says that the employees who are being transferred have worked closely with Apple for many years, and this transition will foster deeper collaboration between the two companies.
Dialog also announces that it has been awarded a broad range of new contracts from Apple for the development and supply of power management, audio subsystem, charging and other mixed-signal integrated circuits. The Revenue from the new contracts is expected to be realized starting in 2019 and accelerating in 2020 and 2021. Dialog’s 2018 revenue will not be affected by this agreement, and the company will continue shipments of current products in production to Apple. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2019.

Microsoft Corp. and Anil Kumble’s technology startup, Spektacom Technologies, with support from broadcast partner Star India introduced Power Bat to provide players, coaches, commentators, fans and viewers with a completely new and unique way to engage with the sport and help improve their game. This will be powered by the Microsoft Azure cloud platform using AI and Internet of Things (IoT) services.

Huawei introduced EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9.0 (Pie) at the IFA 2018 last month. Today the company has announced that EMUI 9.0 will bring local language support, local calendar, deeper integration of Paytm, and more.
Huawei promises 12.9% better performance and 10% better app load times with EMIUI 9, compared to EMUI 8. EMUI 9.0 will feature Natural UX design with integration of nature’s sound and color with natural minimalist style, returning to the natural immersive design.
This also brings down number of settings from 940 in EMUI 8.0 to 843 in EMUI 9.0. It also promises smooth experience with GPU Turbo 2.0 that improves the graphics performance of a smartphone by 60% while reducing power consumption by 30%, and Helpful AI. Google earlier this week has introduced new hardware, and along with it, the company has introduced new Assistant features that will be coming over the next few weeks. The Google Assistant can now also control many popular media and entertainment devices, and the biggest among them is the ability to detect spam calls and let Assistant do the job for you.
When you get an incoming call from an unknown caller, just tap “Screen call” to let the Google Assistant help out. You'll see a transcript of the caller's responses in real-time. This feature is coming to Pixel 3 this month and to Pixel 1 and 2 in November. This uses the same AI technology as Google Duplex.
The company back in May at the I/O 2018 introduced the Duplex technology which on behalf of the user takes the appointment requests and more. At the Pixel event, Google announced that this feature would live in November. After being in beta for a while, Apple rolled out the iOS 12 updates to every compatible phone on September 17th. The iOS 12 update is now present on 53% of active devices introduced in the last four years, according to Apple states page on the App Store.
iOS installation rates are being broken down in a new way. The 53% statistic applies only to devices released in the last four years. While it is at 50% on the whole. Of all the device released in the last four years, 40% are running on iOS 11 and 7% are running an earlier version of iOS. Among all devices, 39% continue to run iOS 11 while 11% use an earlier version of the operating system.
Apple's data is in line with iOS 12 adoption rates as monitored by analytics site Mixpanel which suggested around 46% of devices were running iOS 12.
The iOS 12 adoption has outpaced iOS 11 adoption rates at the same time last year. In early October of 2017, iOS 11 was only installed on approximately 38.5% of devices and by the early November 2017, the iOS 11 adoption rate hit 50%, according to Apple's official numbers.

Sony Mobile officially confirmed the list of its smartphones that will get Android 9.0 (Pie) update back in August. It said that its Premium-range models will get the upgrade from November, now the company has started rolling out the Pie update for its Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact smartphones earlier than expected date.
Android Pie update comes with lots of new features and improvements including navigation gestures, Adaptive Battery that uses machine learning to prioritize system resources for the apps, App Actions, and more. The update comes with new camera app, however it doesn't include portrait selfie mode.
The OTA update is 1.05GB in size and has version number 52.0.A.3.27. It also includes the latest October Android security patches. Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ1 and XZ should get the update soon. The company already said that its XA2 series will get the update in early 2019.
