Samsung launched the Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-I9200) in India at a price tag of Rs. 31,490 along with the Mega 5.8 last month. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 went on pre-order from online retailers last week, the phone is now available from those retailers. The official Samsung eStore is still taking pre-orders for the device. It has a 6.3-inch HD ( 1280 x 720 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).
It has a 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.9 MP front-facing camera. Other features include Infrared LED with WatchON app that would let you remotely control your TV, S Translator, Story Album, Air View, Multi Window, Pop Up Play and ChatON Messaging service.

Wall Street Journal, the publication that is always bang on target with rumours and speculations reports that Microsoft recently held talks with Nokia to acquire its mobile phone business. The recently held meetings apparently broke down due to various reasons like price and market position. The most interesting thing is that these meetings were held recently and not a thing of the past. Recently there was a non-news that Huawei was planning to acquire Nokia and later completely denied it.
At this point in time, Nokia is slowly picking up on the smartphone market that it gradually lost to Google and Apple in the past five years, with Microsoft's help of course, but the Windows Phone route has been not as rewarding as Nokia expected it to be. Screenshots of the upcoming Xperia ZU phablet has surfaced on XDA forum that reveals the home screen and app drawer with small icons. Even though the specifications of the device surfaced last week, the new screenshots confirm that the device would indeed come with a 6.4-inch 1080p display and powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor.
In this screenshot the board is mentioned as MSM8974 (Snapdragon 800) with Adreno 330 GPU is revealed and the Android version is 4.2.2.
The display is 1080p with 342ppi so the display size could be calculated as 6.4-inches. It also reveals the 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. You can see According to the earlier rumors, the Xperia ZU would come with super sensitive screen with Triluminos with X-Reality Mobile display, 8MP Primary Camera with Exmos RS sensor, up to 64GB expandable memory via microSD card, NFC, Wi-Fi and Miracast support for connectivity and a 3000mAh battery.
The name of the device is not confirmed yet. We have to wait for one more week for Sony's event in Germany where the phone is expected to be unveiled.

Youku Tudou, China's leading online video giant and Qualcomm Incorporated has partnered to announce a collaboration on H.265 technology that would offer Youku viewers high quality video content on Qualcomm Snapdragon processor powered devices. The H.265, also known as High Efficiency Video Coding was approved by ITU-VCEG (Video coding experts group) earlier this year. This offers compression efficiency of up to 40% compared to current video compression technology H.264. This also provides high quality video at the same time.

Spice Coolpad Mi-515 that went on sale online earlier this week has been officially launched in India. It comes under the new Spice Coolpad series and has a 5-inch qHD (960 × 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 4.5-inch TFT screen at a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and 217 ppi pixel density. The screen is bright, but the viewing angles are not impressive. The phone has curved corners with chrome finish on the sides.
There is a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) font-facing camera on the top. There is a Proximity sensor next to it along with the LED notification light, but the ambient light sensor is missing so that the screen brightness could not controlled automatically.

Amidst tough competition from various home brands like Karbonn, Micromax and Lava, Samsung has finally snatched the no.1 spot from Nokia as the leader in overall mobile shipments. According to a report from Bloomberg, HTC is supposedly in talks with Iron Man superstar for a $12 million ad deal to promote its Smartphones. The "billionaire, industrialist, playboy" Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. has been at the fore front of the massive success of the Disney-Marvel franchise, and apparently plays a key role in selecting the creative elements for this campaign too. Bloomberg also reports that Robert Dwoney Jr. will be featured in the campaign as himself and not as one of his characters, like Sherlock Holmes or the Iron Man.
This comes at a time when HTC is slowly regaining some lost geek cred with its HTC One flagship, that has received critical acclaim from the media, yes, we love it too. While HTC is ramping up its marketing budget, which was only 1/10th of Samsung's marketing budget last year, things are looking up, especially with this news. Hiring a top Hollywood star seems like a great way to push those marketing dollars the right way. Samsung announced last month that the Galaxy S4 would be available in new colors including Blue Arctic and Red Aurora, followed by Purple Mirage and Brown Autumn this summer. Now the company has announced at the Samsung Premier 2013 event in London that the phone would also come in Pink Twilight color variant. The Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched in Black Mist and White Frost color variants and the Blue Artic variant went on sale from NTT Docomo in Japan last month.
Last month Samsung announced that they have shipped 10 million Galaxy S4 globally. These new color variant would attract more customers. Samsung unveiled the range of colors including Amber Brown, Garnet Red, Sapphire Black and Titanium Grey for the Galaxy S3 last year and it launched in limited edition Martian Pink color in Korea.

Google started publishing Android version distribution charts for various platforms in 2010 on their Android developer page. Now Apple has followed them and published their iOS distribution Pie chart similar to Google. Apple announced at the WWDC 2013 earlier this month that 93% of App Store customers are using the latest iOS 6. Now the distribution numbers are up on the Apple Developer website. The chart shows that 6% of customers using iOS 5 and just 1% are still stuck with versions older than iOS 5.
It is not a surprise that most of the Apple users are using the latest version of the users. Google releases the latest version of the OS for the Nexus users immediately, but the smartphone manufacturers has to release their optimized version of the OS once the stock version is provided to them, hence only 33% of the users are using Jelly Bean, among those just 4% are on Android 4.2.

Intel is the new company to join the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP). The A4WP technology uses near-field magnetic resonance technology to wirelessly charge devices. Intel joins several giants including Samsung, Qualcomm, LG and HTC as a board member of the group. The group has a total of 40 global, technology industry leaders. The aim of A4Wp is to create a wireless power transfer (WPT) ecosystem that delivers spatial freedom in the user experience and industrial design of wireless battery charging of portable consumer electronics device.

Sony unveiled the first SmartWatch back in January 2012 with a 1.3” (128×128 pixels) OLED touch display that can wirelessly and discreetly access calls, messages and applications. It uses Bluetooth to communicate with the phone, and its dust and splash proof.

Last year Samsung started a new trend by announcing a mini version of their Galaxy S III flagship and shortly after the launch of this year's Galaxy S4 flagship, they continued the trend by announcing the Galaxy S4 Mini. As the name suggests, the handset is a smaller version of the flagship but although it's smaller and comes with a smaller price tag, it still packs a punch and will appeal to many users who found the original Galaxy S4 too big.
The front of the Galaxy S4 Mini features a 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED display that offers adequate brightness and vibrancy but the resolution may be lower than some people's expectations, especially as the Galaxy S4 has a Full HD display.
Above the screen is the 1.9MP front-facing camera and an array of sensors.

Pegatron's CEO recently revealed to shareholders that the widely rumored budget iPhone won't be cheap. The company has been charged with production responsibilities for the handset if rumors are to be believed and will be manufacturing the lower cost phone in a myriad of colors.
The CEO however revealed that while it will be cheaper than the current iPhone, it won't compete with bargain basement Android devices. Expect to see a strategy similar to the iPad Mini where the company cut down specifications and kept its design standards high. Previous rumors and leaks suggest that the handset will have a polycarbonate back like that of the iPhone 3G. It is also believed that Apple will finally introduce the iPhone in a range of colors to make it appealing to a younger demographic. The budget iPhone will hence end up being a premium mid range handset. In contract subsidized markets like North America, expect to see the phone sell for $99.
