Among the myriad of announcements Microsoft made at its Build 2014 keynote is one small but highly important detail. With the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system moving to a WinRT layer, all the Microsoft platforms now run on the same runtime, which includes all the devices like a PC, a tablet, a phone, and yes, even the Xbox One. Powered by a common runtime, developers will be able to target all these devices with a shared set of code that will work across all the platforms, like for example notifications, in-app security and so forth. This also means that users can buy an app from one store and use it on another, although the interface will change according to the form factor. Making it the first time for a single runtime to have a target of this breadth, Microsoft is also updating its Visual Studio development tool to support this, with easier targeting and deployment on all of its platforms. Basically, an app developer will be able to share a big chunk of code like business logic, for Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox, with device specific interface and code separately adapted for the respective platforms. This enables developers to target a ...

The event, which will showcase the next versions of iOS as well as the Mac OS X will be attended by 1000 Apple Engineers and 5000 developers from around the world who work on Apple's devices and its platforms. With iOS 7 and Mavericks, Apple had set a clear path for both the mobile and the desktop OSes respectively, and they both were divergent rather than close, so we may see Apple adopting some iOS 7 design philosophies for the OS X interface and may even introduce new features, which we are not aware ...

Google has just added another feature to its Play Store. This time, it doesn't have anything to do with the apps or the way your apps update. But, it brings a little social interest to your Play Store. You now get a "People" tab in the side navigation bar and when you choose it, you get a list of what other people are downloading. This feature integrates with your Google Plus account and brings content from your circles. It shows you various apps and games that people in your circle are downloading and using. Prior to this update, you used to get "From familiar faces" section in the home page of the Google Play Store and now Google has given it a separate page. In addition to getting apps from your circle people, you can also follow people inside the Play Store and view their profiles. The entire thing however, is focussed on apps - mainly what they download and how they have rated the apps they have used. This may improve the discoverability of apps and may help the developers. Have you got a People section in your Google Play Store? Do let us know in the comments below. Source

Ever since we heard about Google Glass getting less geeky with new frames that could support prescription lenses, we wanted to try one. We promptly ordered one once Google started taking those elusive orders, and what we have here now with us, is a Titanium thin frame, in Charcoal colour that will stop making us look like Glassholes. Yes, it is just a frame with plain lenses that lets you attach your old Google Glass to it, but it suddenly makes it way less intimidating than before. Essentially, you will stop looking like a cyborg with an extra eye and the frame will now hide the glass apparatus somewhat, making it a better blend than before. We had shot a video to show how one fixes the new frame onto the Glass, watch - httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN15MR1G8uk Check out our previous Google Glass Unboxing video The frame you saw in the video above is thin, light and sturdy enough to take a lot of falls. This is how different the both frames looked - As you can see, the one on the right looks so much better than the one on ...
