Vivo recently introduced the first smartphone in the world with an in-display fingerprint sensor followed by Huawei Mate RS Porche Design. Now OPPO appears to be the third one in the list as the company's new patent which was received from State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) reveals a fingerprint scanner under the display.
The documents are backed by multiple images that reveal the scanner might be used not only for unlocking the device but also for authorizing payments. The images briefly show how the sensor works and what parts of the actual finger will be recognized. Since the is seen working even when the screen is on, it is different to what Synaptics developed which is a sensor that is emitting light underneath an OLED panel and then reading the fingerprint.
OPPO has filed for the patent back in May 2017 with the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) in China. The patent was approved on March 30, 2018, and shows various images of Oppo smartphones with a built-in fingerprint sensor under the display. Flipkart at its BigOnFlipkart event in partnership with ASUS has announced that it will launch Zenfone Max Pro, a new mid-range smartphone with Snapdragon 636 in India on April 23rd. The company said that the phone will be a game-changer and will be disruptive, but it did not reveal any other specifications of the smartphone.

Yesterday Xiaomi confirmed that the Mi 6X that will be announced on April 25th will feature 20-megapixel cameras on the front and back. Today it has shared images of the smartphone in Blue, Pink, Red, Black and Gold colors. This also shows sleek metal body and a flash for the front camera.
The fingerprint sensor is present on the back and there is a Xiaomi logo as well.
Another images give a closer look at its camera. The arrangement looks similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Some rumors say that the phone will also come with MediaTek Helio P60 SoC, while other say it will be Snapdragon 660 or Snapdragon 626.

Chipset maker MediaTek and Microsoft today announced a partnership to deliver Azure Sphere MT3620 chipset to drive Internet of Things innovation with built-in security and connectivity. Microsoft's Azure Sphere is a solution for creating highly-secured, connected MCU powered devices at an affordable price.
The dedicated MediaTek and Microsoft's specialized chipset features a Wi-Fi connected controller built around a processor that is designed to run Azure Sphere’s IoT operating system. Motorola has been expanding its retail footprint across India rapidly. Earlier this year it opened 50 new Moto Hubs in New Delhi, recently in opened 25 stores in Kolkata, 50 stores in Mumbai, 100 Moto Hub stores in Karnataka and 100 Moto Hub stores in Tamil Nadu. Now the company has announced the opening of 60 new Moto Hubs in Madhya Pradesh that includes 25 Moto Hubs each in Indore and Bhopal and 10 in Jabalpur, with a focus of strengthening retail store in the central region.
The Moto Hub store will house the entire portfolio of Motorola devices, including the online exclusives such as Moto X4 and Moto MODs as well as accessories like on-ear and in-ear headphones, moto shells and covers.
The company already said that it is planning to open 1000 new Moto Hubs in top 100 cities by the end of 2018, in the second phase of retail expansion.

ZTE's nubia brand recently announced that it will launch a new Red Magic gaming phone on April 19th. Now a blurry image of the phone has surfaced online that shows new design. It is said to be powered by Snapdragon 845 with up to 8GB RAM and come with air-cooled body to compete with Xiaomi Black Shark gaming phone that was introduced last week.
The phone is expected to feature lights on the back, black colored body made of unique mater and three-dimensional structure for easier cooling when playing intensive games.
The company's CEO recently shared an image of the phone that shows curved edges, metal frame and an unique design. The phone is rumored to feature a full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) screen and stereo speakers along with Android Oreo with nubia UI on top.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has banned the Chinese maker ZTE from using American technology for seven straight years for violating the terms of a sanctions settlement. The company was caught illegally shipping goods to Iran, the U.S said the officials.
This is a serious deal breaker for ZTE as 25% to 30% of the components used in the ZTE’s equipment is from the American companies that include smartphones and gear to build telecommunications networks. The company failed to comply with an agreement with the U.S. government and it pleaded guilty last year in federal court in Texas to conspiring to violate U.S. sanctions by illegally shipping U.S. goods and technology to Iran.
ZTE was previously fined for shipping telecommunication equipment to Iran and North Korea. It went on to pay $890 million in fines and penalties, with an additional penalty of $300 million that could be imposed. ZTE also paid full bonuses to employees who engaged in the illegal conduct. The company later failed to issue letters of reprimand and lied about the practices to U.S. authorities.

Google Translate gets a new update which brings some useful features if you are a constant traveler. It gets an offline translation, instant camera translation from English to 7 Indian languages, and more.
These seven Indian languages include Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Offline translation lets you download a file so that you can translate even when you don't have a data connection. Instant camera translation is an extension of that. However, this feature will only work for the English language in offline mode.

Huawei has kickstarted its global analyst summit 2018 edition in Shenzhen, and during the event, the company detailed its plans for the next year. With 5G set to take over the market in 2019, Huawei has announced that it will debut its first 5G phone in Q3 2019.

It is possible that Huawei Mate 30 (if this year's model is dubbed Mate 20) will be the first 5G phone from the company given the timing which perfectly lines-up with previous Mate launches. Whats interesting is that it will use the company's own 5G modem; Balong 5G01 chip which it unveiled at Mobile World Congress. It is said to deliver a bandwidth of 2.3Gbps. Considering the size of the Balong chipset, it is most likely to be used in mobile hotspots and self-driving cars rather than phones, but Huawei is also working on a 5G modem especially designed for phones.
Huawei is also said to be looking to be an end-to-end services provider for 5G which will deliver network equipment to service providers when the 5G-ready hardware is available to consumers.

This has a similar 6.23-inch Full HD+19:9 aspect ratio display, is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 with up to 6GB RAM, runs on ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo) and has a 16-megapixel raer camera with LED flash, but this has an 8-megapixel front camera instead of 25-megapixel front camera on the F7.
It has model numbers PADT00 and PADM00. It should come with Face unlock, but there is no sign of fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi launched the new 10000mAh and 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i as ‘Made in India’ power banks back in November last year and the power banks were launched on Amazon.in and Flipkart last month. Today the company has increased the price of the power banks by Rs. 100, which are now available for Rs. 899 and Rs. 1599, respectively.
Reason for the price hike is not clear. Other than the name, the design and specifications of the new Mi Power Bank 2i are similar to the old ones, but the dimensions are slightly different. Both these come with two-way fast charging and low-power mode that can be activated by pressing the power button twice, to charge devices like Mi Band and Mi Bluetooth headset. Amazon has silently has launched lite Android web browser - Internet: fast, lite and private. The main aim of launching this lightweight browser is to offer a medium where access to mobile data and high-speed connectivity is limited if not poor.
The app is currently available on PlayStore, and it is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 or higher. Like with most lite apps, the Amazon browser is also just a 2MB download. To put that into perspective, Chrome (21MB), Edge (54.5MB), Firefox (19.9MB) and Opera (14.7MB), are nowhere close to the Amazon's 2MB browser.
The Play Store description reads 'Private' which means that it doesn’t ask for extra permissions or collect private data like other browsers do. Firefox is one such browser which blocks website trackers. It also supports Private tabs so that you can browse without saying browser history. Other features include tab previews, an automatic full-screen mode, integrated news reader, and more.
News reading experience is another indication that the browser is only meant for Indian users. The browser homepage displays news, cricket, and entertainment from top sources, and cricket. Amazon also offers a Kindle Lite app in India.

Microsoft today has launched the Windows Defender antivirus scanner for Chrome. It is a Chrome extension that includes a list of malicious URLs that will be blocked in Chrome. If the malicious link matches one on the list, Windows Defender Browser Protection will show a red warning screen letting you know that the web page you are about to visit is known to be harmful, giving you a clear path back to safety with one click.
The main goal of this extension is to block malware from entering into PCs from malicious sites and prevent phishing emails from being successful. Google already provides its own security protections against malicious links within Chrome. While the Microsoft's extension acts as an extra layer of protection.
The company claims that its Windows Defender protection against phishing is 99% efficient, compared to 70% for Firefox. It is a welcome addition to any case if you are overprotective.
